POWERMAN 5000: Entire New Album Available For Streaming - Oct. 5, 2009
"Somewhere on the Other Side of Nowhere", the new album from cyber rockers POWERMAN 5000, is available for streaming in its entirety below. Due on October 6 via Mighty Loud!/Fontana, the collection finds the band returning to the hard groove of their earlier work which included hits like "When Worlds Collide" and "Nobody's Real". "We made this record with a clear vision and a purpose," explains frontman Spider. "We wanted to reclaim a sound we created and represent certain influences as only a band like POWERMAN 5000 can. While writing, we would watch 'Godzilla' or 'Ultraman' films to ensure the sonics were on point. We knew that this record needed to sound like the footsteps of a giant robot!"

He adds, "On the surface, this album is a big fun electro metal romp...though there are bigger concepts hidden within. A quote from HG Wells sums it up best; he said, 'Man is the unnatural animal, the rebel child of nature.' That is an ongoing theme in the songs, our inability to find a place in our own world. I couldn't be happier with the results. I finally feel like we have made a record that not only is exactly wanted we wanted it to be, but also a record that the fans are going to love!"

POWERMAN 5000 recently completed filming a video for the band's new single, "Super Villain". The clip was directed by Robert Hall ("Laid to Rest", "Fear Clinic"), and accompanied by award-winning cinematographer and director of photography Brandon Trost ("Halloween II", "Crank 2"). The video also features actor Johnathon Schaech ("Quarantine", "Living Hell", "That Thing You Do") as the "Super Villain".

Gwar fronted by Billy Idol? I thought this band was a joke when they first came out, now I just don't know what to think anymore.

I didn't mean album cover, but the photo below it. Either way it's extremely discomforting to look at, or even think of.

Am I the only person on Blabbermouth who doesn't read articles about bands I don't like? Not to mention waste my time posting on said articles?

This band is great and has tons of fans, two things the top two posters here will never know what feels like.

It's a step in the right direction. This should of followed the "Anyone for doomsday" album.

Album Highlights: V is for Vampire, Get your bones and Horror Show.

What's missing is their funk rock influences. Their older stuff had a lot of funk in it that gave it flavor.

This is definitely better than their last album. PM5K decided to ditch the radio rock sound (which many bands have adopted including Staind, Papa Roach, and Drowning Pool) and go with what made them famous. Still not as good as Tonight The Stars Revolt but it is worlds better than Transform.

I'm sure it feels good as the "Lil bro" to know your new music is better than "big bros" new music. I really enjoyed the live show in San Antonio early this year. Rock on Evil Astronauts!

Leave it to the blabber baby 's to come out and troll like they never troll before on the forums on bands they waste there time on because that s all they could do is cry...

The album sound s better than big brothers so far, hopefully big brother has some tricks up his sleeve on the new album.

this band had a sweet sound back in the Mega! Kung Fu Radio days. This stuff sounds better than their more recent albums, but I much prefer their original sound.

I kind of lost interest in these guys after a rather lackluster performance at some radio-station festival about 5-6 years ago. But this CD is showing definite promise, especially considering the derth of competition they face compared to 10 years ago. I used to love all kinds of hard rock and metal. Now I can count the bands that fit that catagory that I'd pay to see or listen to on one hand.
