SEPULTURA's KISSER Says There Are No Plans For Reunion With CAVALERA Brothers - Oct. 6, 2009
SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser has once again denied that the band is considering a reunion of its classic lineup — despite the fact that fans are still clamoring for vocalist/guitarist Max Cavalera and former drummer Igor Cavalera to make their return.

"Two years ago, people were pressuring us for a reunion, since it was the age of reunions — from THE POLICE to ANTHRAX," Kisser told Noisecreep. "So I think people felt we might be ready to do something like that also. That is not the case. We are focused on what we are doing. We have a new drummer, and we recorded the album with him for first time. And we are in a great moment and the intention is build for the future and not be slaves to the past."

Kisser, however, stopped short of completely ruling out a reunion with the Cavalera brothers at some point in the future, stating, "You never know. This stuff can happen sooner or later. Who knows? Maybe never? Let's see. We're focusing on what we do right now."

In a September 2009 interview with "The Classic Metal Show", Max Cavalera was asked if he thought SEPULTURA's reputation was being tarnished by the band's current lineup. "Well, it's not really up to me to say that," Max replied. "I think I left it up to the fans to decide, and I think they are showing their feelings, because I don't think SEPULTURA is doing all that good these days. There's no original members [left], and it's just kind of hard to believe in a band like that, because everybody that was in it originally has left. But what can I say?! I'm pleased with what I'm doing. Playing with Igor [in CAVALERA CONSPIRACY] is great, and the way SOULFLY is coming together is great, so I just keep doing my thing."

They won't rename the band because their music sucks too hard to carry itself without the Sepultura brand.

Hey Andreas, you missed the fucking boat man, there already has been a Cavalera reuinon, its called Cavalera Conspiracy, and it blows away anthing than Sepultura will ever do again. I got to see CC in toronto, and it was amazing. They played a lot of Sepultura classic songs the only way they can be played. Andreas and Paulo should join KISS on tour, call the tour Scabs across America.

No reunion is necessary. SEPULTURA is still an awesome band that just released a kick ass record earlier this year with "A-Lex."

Next time Max mentions a reunion, he should first talk to Andreas and Paulo.
As someone who has seen the old and new Sep, I must say i enjoy the new line up of SEPULTURA, as well as the fresh brutal sound from CAVALERA CONSPIRACY.
Whats done is done let's move forward!

No need for a reunion, we had enough of both sides on their own and enough of Sepultura when they were still going as the "initial" unit. They couldn't top anything they've done previously and faking it for the money wouldn't be fair to anyone including themselves.

Bands DO break up, it happens, and some of you missed on them back then. Too bad. Next!

Sounds like Kisser is doing music not for money and fame but for the love of music himself. Otherwise I'm sure he'd be begging for a cheap reunion.

Of course they wouldn't say it now, its still around 9 months away. It wouldn't make sense to do that so close to the new (fake) albums release. It would destroy its sales.

Every band that has reunited has released one of these "statements" sometime before officially announcing anything. So far it has gone from NOW WAY to No plans but wont rule it out in under a year.

I'm glad I saw Cavalera Conspiracy live with Rizzo on guitar. He added more life to the Sepultura classics. They don't need Paulo or Andreas, them guys can be easily replaced. Max and Igor are the backbone of Sepultura, you can't replace them! Therefore, Cavalera Conspiracy are Sepultura.

Andreas' Sepultura is nothing more than just a cover/tribute band now.

Say what you will, "Sepultura" is a dead horse. In my opinion a reunion would be a waste, Cavalera Conspiracy have a way better lead guitarist so therefore why bother? Let Kisser and his band of delusional fools keep the name... anyone who knows better is aware that the only reason they've kept this name is solely for publicity purposes. Nuff said...

Do any of you guys even listen to sepultura?

It sounds like your all a bunch of fucking soulfly groupies.

A-Lex was a "solid" metal album.. it was heavy, and the clockwork orange angle was pulled off despite a lot of people expecting it to be corny as hell.

Soulfly and sepultura are both releasing great shit these days.. why would I want a reunion? I mean nostalgia but othern that, keep doing what they're doing.

seriously. get out of the fucking past and accept that the band is good without him. God you guys are fucking fools.

well said man, well said. They pulled that C.Orange concept off nicely. better than anyone could have expected.

Max shouldn't open his big mouth about who is and isn't doing well though, because the C.C album was a commercial flop, and Soulfly's popularity has been thinning out for years.

i like the new sepultura line up a-lx is a great album and the last one with iggor dante was one of the best sepultura album ever... i think soulfly last 2-3 albums are cool but i just did not get into them at first, nice to see max making good music again but the cavalera album was not that great, i would love to see another guitar player on the next album it did sound to much like soulfly to me, great guitar player but i think cavalera would not sound so much like soulfly with another guitar player.. i dont think we need a reunion, max left and did his thing and so did sepultura and now we have 2 great bands and 1 with cc thats ok...

...I like Derrick Green and think he fronts the band well, but A-Lex was a horrifically unlistenable album. Against, Roorback and Dante were all really good but A=Lex may even be worse than Nation was. Anyone who thinks differently are probably just desperately trying to hold onto something that isn't there anymore. Inflikted and Conquer are way better albums. There's not even a competition.

First off, I'm a huge Sepultura fan. Been listening since '93. I am a huge supporter of Max and have wanted an original Sep reunion for years, but honestly, I think I'm seeing Andreas' side more now.

Think about it from HIS perspective, just once. BOTH Max and Igor LEFT. They packed their shit and walked. Andreas and Paulo have fought to keep their band alive. Now all of a sudden, you've got these guys who WALKED AWAY from your band, trying to tell you what's what, and tons of old-school fans siding with them, instead of the guys who stuck it out and kept the name alive. As much as I'd kill to see both Cavalera's back in Sep, I can't say I blame Andreas one bit for not wanting it. I personally think the recent Sep albums have been absolute shite, but it's their call. They didn't quit like the Cavalera's did.

"Cavalera Conspiracy is Sepultura, they should take the name away."

Not even close...

Classic Sepultura = Max + Andreas!!! Morbid Visions was cool but the thing really started to get to another level on Schizophenia, when Max and Andreas got togheter... Forget if you don't like one of them... that's the fact!

CC / Soulfly is Max
Current Sepultura is Andreas

AND Igor is that Mixhell thing... he doesn't care about metal much more... He's a great drummer but he's taking too much credit for the Sepultura sound... He was in Dante XII and the music wasn't very different from A-Lex...

It's like saying Dan Spitz was the spirit of Anthrax... or Rex was the main dude of Pantera... Cool guys and players, but not the song writers of those bands... the same applies for Igor...

I'd prefer Max and Andreas getting along again and maybe a Soulfly jam with Andreas or current Sepultura jam with Max... That would be something really cool to see...

You know guys, Andreas is so stronghead at some point, but any way Sepultura is at his best moment with out Max, the Cavaleras left the boat is such a way that they must feel shame, but in my opinion no work since they parted ways is better than A-Lex, not from Max side or Kisser side, Soulfly is music for airhead teenagers!!!

people say Mark Rizzo is a better guitar player than Andreas? In what fukin reality is that? cuz he can play sweeps real fast? Andreas has true ability and is a well rounded player that can play anything from SRV to straight trash.

CC is not Sep. it's a stripped down copy. I Think they'll admit they were trying to RECREATE the magic. and it sucked live max's kid on drums is as good as Igor and max's guitar is so low the few times me plays it dont matter. A-Lex KILLS, and is fresh due to the fact that everyone whos there WANTS TO BE THERE and not rehashing old beats or dreaming about being a DJ. (MIXHELL).

^^^ uhh Rizzo doesn't only play sweeps you idiot. I guess you haven't taken the time to hear his solo albums. Rizzo is also a phenomenal flamenco guitarist. It's not any half-assed shit either, its real flamenco. That's something on a different level than shred. Not many thrash metal guitarists play flamenco these days.

And to the guy that said "because the C.C album was a commercial flop, and Soulfly's popularity has been thinning out for years."

^^^I laughed hysterically at that comment!!! Wow you are just speaking for your retarded self and not from facts. Soulfly show attendance has been better than ever these days. Cavalera Conspiracy live shows were packed. Just because you stopped listening to Soulfly doesn't mean everyone else has.
