PARADISE LOST: 'Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us' First-Week Chart Positions Revealed - Oct. 9, 2009
"Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us", the new album from British gothic metal pioneers PARADISE LOST, has registered the following first-week chart positions:

U.K.: #16 (Rock Albums)
Germany: #22
Finland: #22
Sweden: #29

The limited formats of this landmark gothic metal opus include two orchestral versions of the album tracks "Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us" and "Last Regret", which were recorded by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra in July 2008.

The limited-edition deluxe two-CD includes special packaging (DVD-sized Mediabook with O-Card in a special leather look) and a bonus track, "Cardinal Zero", on Disc 1 plus a separate bonus CD featuring the "Lost In Prague" tracks. All vinyl lovers will be delighted to hear that the album is available as a limited-edition gatefold LP, including the bonus track "Cardinal Zero", the orchestra mixes on a separate bonus 7" EP, the entire album on CD (in a blank sleeve), and an exclusive poster.

The highly anticipated follow-up to 2007's "In Requiem", "Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us" was recorded at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden with producer Jens Bogren.

The track listing for the CD is as follows:

01. As Horizons End
02. I Remain

06. The Rise Of Denial
07. Living With Scars
08. Last Regret
09. Universal Dream
10. In Truth

The album's artwork (see below), which is based upon a "Danse Macabre" woodcut by Hans Holbein the Younger (first published in 1538), was created by Stefan Wibbeke at Medialogistics (LACUNA COIL, POISONBLACK).

and Shades of God were crap, Icon and Draconian Times were awesome, then they somehow tried to turn themselves into Metallica meets Depeche Mode with UTTER crap being the result. Did they give up and go back to being a metal band?

amazing album. Although if I wanted to hear Icon again, I would have listened to Icon. They definitely went back to early 90's with this one (isn't every metal band doing that again)?

Still my favorite band, but I don't think this one will get 10% of the car stereo timethat In Requiem did.

Please stop citing chart positions from "rock album" charts and crap charts like that. Only the proper comprehensive charts matter. Sometimes band management want to brag about the success of the band by referring to the minor charts. It is like being no. 73 in the chart for the bands lead by left-handed drummers etc...

I'd agree with the post above although I still question their motivations for the return to a harder sound. Is it the actual trend to go back to your 'roots' or the desire to go heavier for the pleasure of it?

Getting heavier again sells these days, let's not forget. At least Paradise Lost does it with class.

I like the track along with the video posted up above. They were brilliant at Sonisphere at Knebworth a few months ago considering they were on at midday on a Sunday!

production and soundwise, but it;s generic, just like the new metallica and megadeth and unlike ACDC who always sounded the same, but they were consistently good !

At any rate, those people in mags who chose this as album of the month must be counting many a pretty dollars.
It's boring, just like anything post draconian. After that album i only like one song per album. Maybe if they do a best of, post draconian of the songs that i like i 'd buy it.

Lame band. The artwork is very similar to Machine Head's "The Blackening"

They were almost good when they played pop.

Agreed. I think this is their best album. It's so unbeleivably awesome. This will be in my top 5 of 2009.

Are you serious? Do you consider a band´s evolution sounding always the same? This band has NOTHING to do with Metallica. They wanted to evolve and NOT sound ALWAYS the same. They went too far? Maybe, but they haven´t lost A BIT of their quality. Why did they come back to their current sound? They went little by little from `Believe in nothing´ (8 years ago my friend) spanning 5 albums (BIN, SOL, PL, IR and FDUDUU) hardening their sound consistently with every new album (that is, progression) up to their newest album, a fact that CANNOT be denied. A band has cycles, but I think their changes have NOTHING to do with the fact that bands are now returning to their `heavier´ roots, PL don´t need to do so, it is part of their natural progression and evolution from 8 YEARS AGO up to now, so I don´t see as a coincidence with today´s bands´ return to their `more metal´ roots, PL are cleverer than that. For that, they deserve (and ALWAYS will) my UTMOST respect.
