DEF LEPPARD: Third Leg Of North American Tour Cancelled - Oct. 16, 2009
Due to unforeseen personal matters, the third leg of DEF LEPPARD's North American tour, set to begin on October 22, has been cancelled.

"We know how truly blessed we are to have such committed fans," said the band in a statement. "That's why we've agonized over this decision. Even if just a single concert, we don't take cancelling shows lightly, but unfortunately life's commitments need to be the priority."

Ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase.

DEF LEPPARD recently released deluxe editions of its classic albums "Pyromania" and "Adrenalize". The albums feature never-before-released B-sides and live recordings as well as nine Top 10 singles from the legendary rock band. The deluxe edition of "Pyromania" features a 15-track live show recorded at The Forum in Los Angeles in 1983. The deluxe edition of "Adrenalize" features demo tracks, live tracks and acoustic tracks.

Not surprised. Why don't you guys play a club tour for your older fans - play High N Dry in its entirety...that'll get me back to your live show.

What DEF LEPPARD are trying to say is: "We can't sell enough tickets to fill up a small club let alone a large venue." What we said: "You suck too much to bother to go see live."

Now CHEAP TRICK can tour with pride.

I've seen them a few times in larger arenas and they were not sold out. Their egos are too big to do a club tour. Oh well, it's 2009 guys, and not 1988. They should open for Taylor Swift. She's selling out arenas and selling 3 million albums....in 2009.

Couldn't agree more. Saw CT a few years ago on the casino circuit and they still put on a great show. The new disc is good vintage CT. These guys should have been bigger than they were. Every album they ever did.........aside from the Doctor, Lap of Luxury, and Busted..........are "must haves" for any serious collection.

I would also include "Special One" with the Cheap Trick albums that one should pass on. A HUGE disappointment IMO..

I still consider their 1977 debut, "Heaven Tonight" and "All Shook Up" as some of the all-time greatest rock albums..

Saw them 5 or 6 years ago, cause I liked them when I was younger and thought it'd be cool to see live. It was a great show (we were on the floor).

Since that show as good, we saw a 2nd how two years later but got stuck in the seats. A bunch of people told us to sit down (of course we didn't listen), but the show wasn't as good.

I guess the novelty wears off after the first show. Def Leppard doesn't sell that many tickets, so they never stop touring. So now they've probably oversaturated themselves in alot of markets.

AC/DC 4ever - I HAVE to disagree - "Special One" is one of my TOP faves, and I'm a lifelong CT fan. It's more about the songwriting than their oft-radio-friendly albums, so the songs actually feel something and aren't just a hook delivery method - And much of it was recorded live, it's not a big corporate jigsaw puzzle like "The Flame" etc. Give it a chance to sink in, it really does rock!

Listen to Def Leppard's High N Dry and then to their X cd. They are now an adult contempory band no heavier than Michael Bolton or anything you would hear on a light rock station. They should have changed the name of the band after Pyromania or at least put warning stickers on their cds after that. Hysteria was an ok cd for the time but doesn't hold up now. Adrenalize had 1 good song, Slang sucked and Euphoria had a few good tunes. X SUCKED and I have yet to hear the last one but could care less at this point.

It's an awful pity they had to cancel this tour, for what ever reason.

Leppard are a great band with more classic tracks in their back catalouge than most bands could ever dream off. Their last album' Songs from..' was fantastic, not he quality of Pyromania, Hysteria and them but pretty fucking savage and by far the best Leppard record since Adrenalize.

I don't understand why Leppard cancelling a tour prompts fifty people to comment back about how much Cheap Trick rule. er a bunch of sad little, internet dweebs aren't ye? Internet metalers, the saddest little gits this side of Paris Hilton.

Maybe when some of ye accomplish what Leppard have managed in their career (oh go on, be clever ya pathetic fat useless excuse for a music fan). Why don't you guys focus your energies on maybe getting a girlfriend or friends. Useless pieces of shit, all of you fucking tools.

Nothing to do in your life but repeatedly shit all over every single fucking post Blabbermouth puts up here about pretty much every band under the sun. Young, naive, thick as fucking planks, almost every fucking one of ye!!

Leppard rules, hope all is well on their side.

High and Dry is ranked #2 on my all-time favorite albums list right behind Appetite for Destruction. I turned 12 years of age in Nov. 1977 so I was lucky enough to have my teenage years synch up with the Metal/Hard rock movement in its prime. (yes, once upon a time Maiden and Priest could be heard on commercial radio, at least on WBCN, I live a little North of Boston) I agree that Def Lep's Latest stuff is way more Whitney Houston than it should be, is this the same band the made On Through The Night? And that Joe Elliot is highly delusional, He mentions Lep in the same breath as The Stones and U2 terms of touring longevity and relevance. Those two bands last played in my neck of the woods in the same venue the Patriots play every other Sunday. Anyway Lep killed in 1981. Everyone have a pleasant weekend.

I wouldn't cross the street to see a concert by these guys now ... I caught a show on TV the other day and Joe Elliott sounded pathetic. They were a great band once, but that ended when Hysteria came out 20-something years ago. Now they've forsaken all their great early material (which I still listen to and love).

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Lifelong Cheap Trick fan as well. I worked on the band's "Silver" DVD and I've known Rick Nielsen for years..

I gave "Special One" many chances through the years, and it just doesn't do it for me. It does have it's moments ("Pop Drone", "My Obsession") but most of the tracks just kinda "lay there," and there is no excuse for the last two tracks on the album which are virtually the same song!

Whats funny is the rude ranting you go on for 2 paragraphs about people rude ranting. Many of us are not young, had our share of chicks, married and great careers. We just think Def Leppard has failed since they went pop. That is why the METAL fans here love High and Dry and hate the new Def Leppard. Epic failure on your sad attempt to make a point. Hypocrite.

On the other hand, glad to hear so many good posts about Cheap Trick. I saw them at the Ravinia here in Chicago about three years ago and they were great. I've seen them several times and as recently as two years ago. They still sound amazing live and have a tremendous amount of chemistry on stage. Sure, Joe can be hit or miss, but that's the way he's always been (go check some old live video if you don't believe me). He's a rock front man, not an operatic prog rock singer. The only complaint I have about their live show is that the set list should get some more post Adrenalize material in it.

I'm really bummed that I won't see them in St Paul now. However, I wish them the best in the resolution of whatever is behind this. Also, I hope they get back in the studio soon! Go Lep!

This cancellation has put DL all over the internet, but they
all report that their show was in the top 20 for ticket sales for 2009 (they came in at 11), and we're taking in at least $700,000 per show. This means they cancelled the last 23 shows at a loss of $16,100,000

I'm thinking whatever it was that spooked them enough to refuse that kind of cash has to be serious.
