DAVE MUSTAINE Vs. Norwegian Journalist: Video Of Entire Interview Released

Norwegian journalist Kristin Winsents, who was threatened with bodily harm by Dave Mustaine after she aired a video report focusing primarily on the MEGADETH mainman's brief tenure as the guitarist in METALLICA, has released the uncut version of the entire 25-minute interview, which was conducted on August 7, 2009 at the Langham Hotel in London, England. "I am still stunned by the aftermath of the interview I did with Dave Mustaine in August," Kristin writes on the blog of "Lydverket", the Norwegian broadcaster NRK's weekly pop music show which aired the original four-and-a-half-minute report. "He didn't much appreciate the feature we aired on our show 'Lydverket' last week. In fact, he hated it. He also hinted at the possibility that I more or less forced him to talk about METALLICA. "Both Mustaine and eager metal fans have asked to watch the entire interview. Here it is. "I really looked forward to interviewing Dave Mustaine in London on the 7th of August. I'd listened to [ MEGADETH's] new album 'Endgame', a great and extremely vital album. And I was excited to talk to a musician who actually masters the art of being relevant after 30 years in the business. And he certainly did not disappoint me, quite the opposite. " Dave Mustaine is incredibly funny and engaging, and a master at the fine art of storytelling. And that's exactly why we have been looking forward to airing the interview. And in contrast to a lot of other rock stars, Mustaine actually shares real and interesting stories about himself in a highly entertaining manner. And I find that an endearing quality. And I think that's why we've had a lot of positive feedback from viewers after we aired the interview. "I was taken completely by surprise by Dave Mustaine's anger. He's been in the spotlight since the early '80s, and should know that as a journalist I would find it highly relevant to use his statements about METALLICA. If he doesn't want that part of his life, and his turbulent relationship to James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, to be an issue, my advice would be for him to stop talking about METALLICA, Hetfield and Ulrich. " Dave Mustaine doesn't want to be my friend, he states. I can live with that. But it won't stop me from listening to 'Endgame' on full volume." its a really good interview. More or less Mustaine brought it up first, but really he was talking about his book and it led to that. I guess he did not realize how far he was goin till that was all mentioned. But she did lead the conversation about Metallica so there ya go. In some ways they are both wrong but more so Mustaine.

It's journalism. It's their job to ask questions to the interviewee. I remember back in the 80's and the whole anti PMRC of which Mustaine himself railed against censorship. People have the right not to have to answer questions. That is also the beauty of free speech. It is disappointing to know that Mustaine is now condoning the idea that journalists must censor their questions. Bad. Very bad.

Why is RoadRunner (yeah, yeah - I know - Blabbermouth is run independently...) using Blabbermouth to continue on with encouraging people to hate on someone who is under contract to them?

I think Dave's only problem is that he's so open that he gets into things that he probably should stay away from. It must be frustrating to give an interview where you talk about a million different things, but the only thing mentioned is Metallica.
That being said, he should just stop talking about it. The journalist should also stop it, too. Stop with the attention seeking.

Blabbermouth is running these stories because people read them and post on them over and over and over. It has nothing to do with love or hate with Mustaine/Megadeth. Hits are hits. Money is money. If you don't like the stories, skip them, don't post and give the site more hits. You don't think they track that shit? They know what they should post to get hits. If he was talking about Michael Jackson nonstop, they'd be posting those stories. Because you goofballs would respond, over and over and over. I think it's great!
Mustaine is a smart guy. I love Megadeth, one of my favorite bands ever. But I'm sadden to learn that he thinks Alex Jones is a good source of information. I'm very disappointed in that.

First off, The interviewer was not supposed to ask him questions about that "other band". If he happened to bring it up (which he did) that's alright. I don't see a problem there. The problem (in my eyes) is that only a small portion of the interview was even about the "other band" that he was in, and that little piece certainly should not have been any kind of headline. I think the guy he referred to (that he was pissed at) was this interviewers boss, for taking that little bit of info and making a big story of it. I am sure Dave had to do other interviews that day and got her mixed up with another guy who he probably thought was working for her employer. I think it's time to just shrug our shoulders, shake our heads and move on. Dave is still fucking awesome and as long as he is still making great music, I'm right there in the pit. Cheers to the MEGAFANS and cheers to Dave!!!

I don't see the problem. Dave brought up stuff about Metallica himself as far as I can tell, I don't even really see how she could have "led" him into. She asked about his book, and he just went off on all sorts of stuff. The interview is perfectly fine as far as I can tell! Some cool things in it actually. If Dave is sick of seeing or hearing himself talk about Metallica, then he should probably just not bring it up. I think he probably made a big mistake here, thinking somehow that she forced him into it. Hey, it happens. People aren't perfect. But he should probably come clean about blowing up so much.
As someone above said, he's so open that he gets into things that he probably should stay away from. When he looks back on this, I can see how one would get pissed. You give a interview and talk about all sorts of stuff and all people want to talk about it is every scrap of anything said about Metallica. Everyone should just quit it.

Even though many things that happen to the guy are his doing, he's had a life of damned if he did and damn if he didn't.
I know some guys in SF that have an Electronic music store and they had this ESP Guitar with Mustaine signature on it. I asked 'who was the fan' and they told me that one of the owner's little brother had a video distribution store in LA and that one day Mustaine walked in and gave it to him. The little brother had NO IDEA who he was so he just said thanks and Mustaine just walked out. Turns out that Mustaine wanted to do something cool for whatever store sold the most of the Megadeth DVD he would reward them with a personally signed guitar. He must have felt like shit giving this kid a guitar and the kid had no clue who the fuck he was...total thing that would happen to him...I think he often tries to do good things and it just back fires...

Lars is a prick, thats why their known as trendica, or alternica for the last how many years. I'll always love what metallica did through the black album, and magnetic' is pretty good too. But atleast Mustaine gives a damn about his fans, and really has never tried to sell out like alternica has. Yeah deth' had the risk album, which wasn't good. But if you like metallica still so much today, and can completely disrespect mustaine, than you have some issues. As in being able to claim to be a true metalhead. Lars is a crappy drummer, and trujillo belongs in metallica as much as one of the backstreet boys!

You know a lot of this shitstorm is his own doing by bringing up Metallica and he DID bring up Metallica here. However, this was an excellent interview (the 25 minute one) and Metallica really was at most 25 percent of it and some of it wasn't even that interesting, especially the rrhof part. Having a degree in journalism, this really pisses me off that with all the good shit in that interview they only talk about Metallica which is fucking bullshit.
As far as we know, this may not even be this woman's fault but her co-workers who edited the piece together. The fact is they took one small part of the interview and made it the entire interview and for that I feel sorry for Dave. He is trying to avoid it but when you ask questions about the book, you know it's eventually gonna come to Metallica and he should've just left to that when he fired the one guy it was like when he was fired and ended it but it's hard to do that. He really just needs to be more aware of the games these journalists play.

Dave clearly fucked up his handling of this, but I appreciate why he was pissed off that a 25 minute interview was edited down to feature the Metallica stuff most prominently, along with that rather cheap contextual edit of the second line of Crush 'Em.
In the flesh, it was a pretty good interview, but Dave should learn to say"no comment" if he doesn't want stuff like this to happen. He's been in the game long enough to know that the sensationalist angle is the one that sells.

I think everyone is missing the REAL big picture here.
First of all, even if she DID bring up the Metallica issue, why would Mustaine not just stop the interview right there? If it's a contractual thing to NOT bring up Metallica in interviews, then why would Mustaine bite the hook so quickly and start ranting about Metallica? Wouldn't he have just said "That's it! I'm outta' here!"
So, either way, he's STILL a moron no matter which way you slice it! I read Mustaine's official blog on Megadeth.com today. You should SEE him try to backpedal his way out of THIS one! Now he's trying to make it look like all that talk of "bodily harm" was "just a joke," and when he called her a "guy," he was just "generalizing!"
Unbelievable! Every time I think Mustaine couldn't stoop any lower, he does something which totally surprises me. This is RIGHT UP THERE with his comment about the Iraq war and how if he were in charge, he'd just drop a big nuke on the whole country and them come home to a ticker-tape parade.

this journalist seems really polite. Mustaine seems to have a lot of aggression...
I'm not watching this video because, well, I have a life. But I will comment on the record. Endgame is awesome. It's a shame that its falling down the charts but I think it's more the nature of the industry than anything else. I'm assuming this album was leaked and on the torrent sites and everything so I'm guessing that ate a good chunk of record sales. I don't know if Roadrunner dropped the ball or not. I bought it, personally. I don't know, I think albums just aren't selling anymore because the people buying them are parents with jobs in America. Kids know too much about computers than to just ask their parents for money. They just download it and then ask for money for something else. album art is irrelevant. welcome to tomorrow
I'm sure it's different around the world. America is really weird now.
