MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site: "There has been a lot of talk about the possibility of a 'Big Four' tour [featuring METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX], and while I find the timing peculiar, the opportunity is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, because we all are really so very different now, and the chances of this happening are probably not going to come around again in the future; due to personal plans, new ventures, and the inevitable passing of torches to the next generation in each of our respective genres (or the sub-genres that were created). "While there is nothing to say at this point, if it happens, when it happens, we, as well as my other three fellow horsemen, will let you know. "When we played Loud Park, our dressing room become the den of iniquity for all the marquis talent for the night. "Although some of the other bands tried to come in, ( BLESSED BY A BROKEN HEART — whose blonde band member came close to getting his ass handed to him for racist comments to and about my tech, Willie Gee — I am glad I didn't hear or I would have another story about bodily harm). "Our crew and the Japanese crew were keeping it just to our friends and the top acts. In fact, at one time we had me and Kerry King [ SLAYER guitarist] talking, Dave Lombardo [ SLAYER drummer] holding court with several people, Akira Takasaki [ LOUDNESS] was hanging with Shawn [ Drover; MEGADETH drummer], Glenn Tipton from JUDAS PRIEST, the guys from ANVIL, and lots of journos, photogs, and record company people all in my dressing room. "Funny, it seems like Blabbermouth and Roadrunner USA are the only people who don't like me or MEGS anymore. "Such a shame. "However! I am heading back to the States today, and going to recharge my batteries, get check-up at the shop, make sure our gear is running right, and make the beginning of several new changes that should take us up another level for our shows and our performances. "That's it for now, and be sure to check out 'Megadeth Radio' this Thursday for our big debut!!!" In an October 16, 2009 posting on the MEGADETH forum, Mustaine accused the U.S. branch of Roadrunner Records of dropping the ball in regards to the promotion of the band's new album, "Endgame". He wrote, "I don't know what to say. How a record company could be presented with a worldwide critically acclaimed record, and that they can let it plummet down the charts in just four weeks into the hundreds, is inexplicable. "I knew I shouldn't have done this. Why didn't I trust myself? "I regret a lot of things in my life, but this is the most regrettable." "Endgame" has sold around 76,000 copies in the United States since its release five weeks ago. The CD registered the following U.S. weekly sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan: Week 1: 44,696 Week 2: 12,833 Week 3: 8,640 Week 4: 5,583 Week 5: 3,948 "Endgame" currently sits at position No. 142 on The Billboard 200 chart.

I've wanted to check out Endgame for I don't know how many weeks now, but I still have yet to hear it. Because every day I come on here, and see him running his mouth about Metallica, or someone else, worse than some highschool bimbo. (And i'm not a Metallica fan or anything)

What people on here fail to remember is that this place is just like TMZ or Perez Hilton for metal news.
Dave is posting on his own band's forums. In the olden days that wouldn't have been passed on through a million different sites, but because of the traffic that Blabbermouth gets from posting this tabloid style sensational shit rockstars either have to be careful what they say (& since when did what they say matter? It used to be about the music) or suffer bad publicity & lost record sales.
Seriously, metal fans, or whatever you people call yourselve - get over the opinions of personality - in the earlier days there used to be massive battles between the bigger bands because part of the beauty of people who choose to be in metal bands is that they are living the dream, and quite a lot of the time haven't grown up due to that, so let's just listen to (& buy) the music if we like it, have a dig a bit if we don't & leave all the shit about rumours of bust-ups or who hates who or what some rockstar had for breakfast to the shit magazines that normal people read about Lindsay Lohan & the rest of that lot.

On a side note, Willie Gee is one of the funniest people in the industry. Had the pleasure of hanging out with him when he was one of the crew for King Diamond. Got a great nickname once when King was in San Francisco. The crowd was going nuts anticipating King coming on stage. The chants of "KING KING KING" were deafening. Everytime someone set foot on stage to set something up, they were met with cheers then boos when they realized it was not King. I went on stage to put some water bottles on the drum riser and got booed until I left the stage. Willie Gee went on stage to tape down some wires. Some people in the crowd shouted "FUCK YOU DUCT TAPE GUY!" Willie Gee signed my copy of "House of God" and put Duct Tape guy.

In my opinion he's a pretty loyal and nice guy. I'd like to hang out with him and drink some. Even the lame Bud Light. Maybe i'd bring some german beer with me...
However. I don't care what you guys say about Mustaine or Megadeth... Endgame is a killer record!

but so was 'United Abominations', and fan responses was mixed to that as well.
Maybe there is a disconnect between what the critics and fans think, and that could possibly explain why the numbers for 'Endgame' aren't as good as they were for U.A.
In other words, a lot of fans were disappointed with U.A and decided to give 'Endgame' a miss.
'Endgame' isa really good record though.

Doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that Megadeth's backstage facilities are likely to be visited by other name bands every now and then and that "lesser" bands might not be allowed to enter the premises. So what?
If the racist comments really happened, that's of course bad, but for obvious reasons I'm a bit reluctant to take Mustaine's comments as 100% truth.

I don't suppose that part of the problem with promoting the record might be the fact that, every time Mustaine's interviewed as part of what I would assume to be doing the rounds promoting the album, all he talks about is fucking Metallica. Think that might be part of the problem?
And let's face it, Dave-damn few bands are selling CDs anymore. You always see the triumphant press release about the first week sales from bands. Never hear much about it afterward, because in metal, the dedicated fans run out, buy it, push it up the charts, and then...that's it. Count your blessings you sold 70,000 in this climate and shut the fuck up.

I feel like I should post something for a change. All I can say is that I don't see why people get so bent out of shape over this guy. I mean so what if Dave says this or Dave says that. I sure don't. If I like a Megadeth CD, then I will buy that Megadeth CD. If I don't then I won't. But it definatly never has anything to do with Daves lifestyle, or lack of, whatever. And it sure as hell has nothing to do with the likes of you people on here whining all the f ing time.
I hung out with Dave once in the early 90's at a local radio station. And I can say the guy was pretty cool to take the time and hang with us, and was a really decent guy.
I'm not here to change anyones opinion of Dave. But you people on here are some of the most retard waste of life to walk this earth. And I'd bet anything, that noone likes any of you in your own pathetic lives. Not everyone here, but we all know who you are!!!!

It never ends!
Not to mention the fact that "Killing Is My Business" sold more initial copies than "Endgame" did. I think the proof is in the pudding. It's time for Mustaine to put the paddles away and stop trying to jump-start the corpse of a band that died back in 2001.

I don't post much on BM, but I do read it. Most of the comments are from idiots, we all know that (there are some smart, thoughtful people who do post though). Since Dave reads the garbage on this site (lol), this is an open letter to him...
I'm an older fan (mid 40s) and have been on board with Megadeth since the first record. Risk is where you lost me, I even really liked the radio friendly stuff from the mid 90s, Cryptic Writings is one of my fave Megadeth records. The new stuff, played well, recorded well, but just not connecting with me. What has happened is that many of your fans have grown up and either stopped listening to heavy music (my wife for instance) or like me, personal tastes have changed. I don't like fast music at all really anymore. I prefer slower, doomier stuff and that's what I play and listen to (stoner rock, doom, sludge, grunge, etc.). Most of my friends fall into the same categories with some also moving into being fans of classic rock. Younger fans, they prefer the cookie monster, screamo, crap - the atonal, lack of melody and brutal enough to kick you in the teeth crap. The new guitarists, excellent, but too shreddy on the records. Solos lack a certain emotion or hook that you've had in the past. Take those notes how you wish. The new record is just out of step with your traditional fan base. Sorry. But so is the new Slayer record.
I'd recommend posting most comments to close fans in a private area on your site -- its good to connect with fans, but you know that if in a public forum, things will get taken out of context or often just repeated.
Stop talking about your faith and more important, stop talking about giving people a beat down for doing something you don't like or agree with -- its childish and shows a lack of civility and maturity. Rise above it. You are a father and hero to a generation, start acting like that. Stop talking about Metallica. People are tired of it, I know I am, time to move on. Stop talking about Slayer, we all know Kerry King is a douche bag. Combining personal things and business is just bad for business, it doesn't happen in the traditional work place, look at everything you do in public (as you are a public figure) as the workplace. I'd like to the a Dave that acts like a guitar hero, rises above adversity, and is bigger than all of the petty crap that is said in public. Like James Hetfield, that is not a knock but the truth...

Maybe there would be more interest in the US market if you were actually touring the US Market at the time of the release...you know, so people would have the reason to get the new record so they would know the songs as the show rolled into their city.
And maybe now a "No Comment" should be the answer to ANY question where your previous band is concerned. If you want those questions to stop, ultimately you are going to have to stop answering them no matter how annoying they are. It's interesting how it's the ONLY issue for you, yet it rarely comes up in Metallica interviews.
Maybe you also need to get it through your head that in 2009, you are not above doing too many interviews. Say what you will about Ace Frehley, but you can't deny that he's been willing and ready to do some horrible interviews lately just to get the word out about ANOMALY. And while solo Ace is significantly smaller than Megadeth in 2009, the numbers aren't that far apart.
Finally Dave, remember that you are Megadeth in most people's eyes - not the people that you surround yourself with in the band. If you want additional press and radio, you are going to have to do it yourself for anyone to care. That's not a slap at Broderick, Lomenzo or Drover - it just is the way it is. From the biggest Howard Stern like show down to the smallest shit web blog, no one is reading or listening to Megadeth interviews unless it's from Dave Mustaine. You've been in the game for over 30 years - long enough to know that 90% of the success of any release is your ability to be a good salesman. Stop waiting for someone else to sell your project. Roadrunner is not Billy Mays - you are!!

Im not sure how record sales go but It seems strange that when he tours there are 17000 fans that can potentialy come out to just one show let alone all the venues hes hit in north america this year. Is it because many of you down load it for free? I dont know, I live in the sticks and havent made it to a record store to purchase endgame yet but will for sure. Ive had to listen to endgame on my space for now. Thanks Dave for putting the album up for us to listen to.

Saw the interview...and really...it just seems as if you the watcher are just hanging with Dave and he's just sharing his feelings and his life stories...period. He's telling you about the past, as well as the present..and a bit of the future. The interviewer was polite...and dave was just talkin and chillin. There really is no more to it than that. I felt like I was in someones living room, having a beer with dave..and he's just talking to me and answering my questions. Period. If you think he's rambling..then dont watch...if you think he's full of it and yada yada...stop whining. IMO, i cant understand why he would get mad over this interview...unless 2 things...he said she said net postings and he read into it wrong...or he's just keeping Megadeths name out there in the scene of the net. The more drama he has..the more topics he gets and the more his band name gets posted.

Except that it wasn't, and when it failed, "The System Has Failed" was named as the return to form. It, too did not live up to expectations. But "United Abominations" was, for real this time, a return to form. No takers there, either. Now, Mustaine has stated "Endgame" is the real deal, and the last few were all half-assed efforts. People are sick of getting burned. To have almost 50,000 die-hard fans buy your new album in a week is pretty good success these days. The numbers dropped off because the majority of those who wanted to buy the thing already did. Megadeth, at this stage, is not a band that can win over many new fans. A lot of the old ones, myself included, have written them off at some point or another. The ones left, who will buy the new stuff and support it, appear to number around 76,000 or so in this country. Publicity or not, if my favorite band puts out a new CD, I'll know about it and buy it day one. Don't blame others for your own lack of integrity, credibility, viability, or relevance.

I own everything Megadeth did up to Cryptic Writings. Then I decided to skip the next albums, for obvious reasons. Endgame was worthy of a purchase, which I did the first week.

Lower the price and maybe more people will buy it that wouldn't otherwise. Kiss sold their load-o-crap for 12.00 at Walmart (2 cds + 1 dvd) and it was $2 less than Megadeth. I don't think there is a cut-out bin anymore...

Don't talk to me about metal education, l've been listenining to metal since early 80s, and what l was talking about was the the all round package. Dave and James write lyrics, music, sing and play guitar, all the people you mentioned are great although you failed to mention Butler, iommi, Halford, Tipton, Downing, Blackmore, Harris, etc, but Hetfield and Mustaine own them all and will go down in history as metals greatest.

and btw my final verdict is that EndGame is better than Death Magnetic BUT both albums are solid gold. I'm listening to Endgame constantly just like when Death Magnetic came out. purely great.
