ACE FREHLEY: I Would Have 'No Problem' Attending ROCK HALL Induction With KISS - Oct. 21, 2009
Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley says that he would have "no problems" with attending the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony with his former bandmates. He tells the Artisan News Service, "We're all on speaking terms. [We] don't have any bad blood between us. I really had to let all the negative energy go years ago — for my own sanity and personal health. I move forward. If there's negative people around me, I distance myself from them. So I don't have a problem with those guys and I don't see a problem accepting an award with them."

KISS and the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS are among the first-time nominees for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Also included for the first time on the list of a dozen nominees are GENESIS, THE HOLLIES, LL COOL J and Jimmy Cliff. Returning for another shot at the Hall are the STOOGES, ABBA, THE CHANTELS, DARLENE LOVE, LAURA NYRO and DONNA SUMMER. Five of the 12 will be chosen for induction, with their names revealed in January and the 25th annual ceremony set to take place on March 15 at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City.

KISS has been eligible since 1999, but has been passed over several times by the Hall's nominating committee, leading to tension between the band and the Hall.

If KISS does get in, it is not clear who would be inducted alongside remaining original members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, although it's almost certain that fellow founders Peter Criss and Frehley would be invited.

The Hall of Fame will celebrate its 25th anniversary with two concerts on October 29 and October 30 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Among the acts scheduled to perform are U2, METALLICA, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, ERIC CLAPTON, SIMON & GARFUNKEL and others.

but any artist that gets nominated and then put in are happy to oblige. It's nice for these people to have their work recognized and that's why they show up and that's why it's a big deal. Sure, I'm pissed that the Rock Hall has overlooked and flat out dissed acts that should be in. But at the end of it all it's not about fans and what we want.

It's nice to hear from Ace that he's all about it and there's no tension for him and that he's over the crap that goes along with KISS. It's time for the original 4 members to get their due. LONG overdue.

"KISS, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, Deep Purple, ABBA, Cheap Trick, UFO, Rush & Judas Priest" are ALL worthy of induction...... The fact that these guys have been dicked off so hard by the Hall of Fame voters just goes to show the world how lame that organization is........ I'm mean L.L. Cool J is on the current list---WTF? That is so homo it makes me sick...

YES! The original KISS members need to kiss and make-up for this event........ Christ, it is only for one friggin' evening.......... Do it.......... Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer can also come along to the party....... I hope the H.O.F. and Gene and Paul do NOT screw this up.......... KISS belongs there......... Peace......

Kiss were NOMINATED to get in. And they won't get in either because they don't deserve to. Of those nominees, the only ones deserving of getting in are The Hollies, Genesis, and yes....Abba. From your list of nominees to get in, as great as all those bands/acts are, the only one worthy of the Hall is Rush. And UFO are my favorite hard rock band of all time, along with Thin Lizzy. Someone needs to create a Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Hall Of Fame. I'd visit that as often as possible.

If Ace isnt inducted with the rest of the Kiss then that would be one of the biggest insults ever. Ace was a big part of the kiss stage show (fire guitar and so on), and the uniform / paint job is always related back to Ace so try and tell me he doesnt deserve it. Gene is a money hungry scab and if it were up to him it would be Gene Simmons inducted into the HOF not Kiss, I personally would pay more money to see Ace rip it up than to see Gene put on a half ass show for $300. Oh yeah and Bruce Kulick is the best guitarist kiss has ever had, if he isnt inducted then that too is a joke!!!!

Folks,

I have no idea what the criteria is for H.O.F. full induction, but only the original KISS band truly deserves this honor...... I'm sorry, but as a fan, I cannot vote for "Carr, Vincent, St. John, Kulick, Singer or Thayer" as true "Hallers" of KISS..........

Again, I'd certainly invite Singer and Thayer to the party and dinner, and any remaining live former member too, but the original band is the proper and rightful move to make....

Note:

It would also be kool to see "Gene, Paul, Peter & Ace" show up in '09 for the event in full KISS gear and make-up, but I know Goddamn well that IS asking too much........ I trust IF the Fab Four actually do team up for the H.O.F. they'll prolly show up in normal clothes / attire...... PITY!

Extra, Extra....

All I know is KISS had best get voted in......... No more screwin' around here....... You hear me???

NOW! For something important.... I just read that Paul Stanley stated he hasn't spoke to Peter Criss since he was released in 2004......... I'm guessing Gene hasn't either.......... So, WTF? If this H.O.F. gathering is to happen in a week or so, someone had best call and fill Peter in about the meeting and details....... Who's gonna do it---Ace??? People will want to know this.......

People, you don't have to like or talk to the people that you work or have worked with to make an appearance together....... All that is really required here is to make a showing and shake some hands and pose for a few snapshots for a stitch in time...... Afterward you all can climb back in seperate limo's and go home or back to the hotel........ Is that asking too much????

Let me first say that I’m not a big supporter of Ace or Peter. I think Ace is very talented but didn’t have the work ethic or dedication to continue with KISS. Peter was always a sub-par musician. I think that Paul and Gene essentially created the band and put together the act and music that made KISS. Yes I know Peter and Ace contributed but I think one needs to be asked if the band would have been successful without certain members.
Even though I’m a fan of the later material, KISS is not going to be remembered for anything that Eric, Vinnie, Mark, Bruce, Eric S. or Tommy have done. For this reason when inducted I hope that that the members who were present when the band broke through and started it all are inducted only. For this reason Peter and Ace have to be included. I don't think this is even a question though. The question is if any replacements should be included. I love Eric C. and Bruce but I don’t think that they deserve it.

It’s not about length of time in the band, it’s about the work that their famous for and the RRHOF is considering. I wish Bruce and either Eric were in the band from day one. If they were in my opinion the band would have been a tighter unit. However, they weren’t! Peter and Ace were and regardless of what I think of them, I think that only the 4 more members that were pivotal in their success belong.
As far as the “later material,” it is later material compared to their beginning work. I have every KISS album and enjoy all of their music. I wish more non-make-up material was played live. The reality is that all of the replacements joined an already made band and as much as I enjoy Bruce’s work with KISS it is not considered to be pivotal to their success.
Think of it this way…if the band broke up after the solo albums they’d likely still be considered. If the band formed and their first album was Lick it Up (clear break from past members) I still would have bought their albums, just like I bought a lot of other glam metal from the 80s; but no way would they be considered for the RRHF. I’m just somebody who thinks that it should be real honour and be very selective.

One man is in charge of who goes into the RnRHOF. He doesn't like prog. He doesn't like metal. He doesn't like AOR. Metallica got in cause they had no other big name the last show. AC/DC has to be forced upon him. Jann Wenner is his name and he put in the Talking Heads before Rush which assures him his spot in the 7th layer of hell. The man is the only vote so the RnRHOF is a joke. He has no problem taking one of Lifeson's guitars for display in the museum, tho. You all DO know you can pay to get in? 50 grand last I heard. The Top 5 Charting Rock And Roll Bands Of All-Time On The Billboard 200 Albums Chart:

03. The Beach Boys
04. Chicago
05. The Bee-Gees

The Top 5 Charting Rock And Roll Bands Of All-Time On The Billboard 100 Singles Chart:

01. The Beatles
02. The Rolling Stones
03. The Bee-Gees
04. Chicago
05. The Beach Boys

Chicago is the only band on those lists who is not in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

Singer-Songwriter and Pianist Elton John and his songwriting partner, Lyricist Bernie Taupin, were both inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992, but only Elton John was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. This does not make any sense whatsoever. If there had not been a Bernie Taupin, there would not have been an Elton John and vice versa. Their music was a collaborative effort. Bernie Taupin should have been inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame back in 1994 as a Lyricist in the Non-Performers category, the same year that Elton John was inducted in the performers category.

Bernie Taupin didn’t just write lyrics exclusively for Elton John. Bernie Taupin also wrote the lyrics for songs recorded by Ringo Starr, Rod Stewart, Kiki Dee, Cher, Alice Cooper, Robert Palmer, Melissa Manchester, Rick Derringer, The Hudson Brothers, Olivia Newton John, The Motels, Starship, Heart, Animotion, Stray Cats, John Waite, Martin Page, Peter Cetera, Bryan Ferry, Tammy Wynette, Little Richard, Marianne Faithful, Courtney Love, John Anderson, Willie Nelson, Teddy Thompson, Emmylou Harris, Lee Ann Womack, Toby Keith, and Brian Wilson, as well as for his own singing career, both as a solo artist and as a member of his own late-1990s Country-Western band, The Farm Dogs.

Elton John and Bernie Taupin comprise one of the longest running and most successful songwriting teams of all time. Bernie Taupin’s 40 years of collaborative work with Elton John alone should qualify him for the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. Please induct Lyricist Bernie Taupin into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in the Non-Performers category. His induction is long overdue.
