SLASH Talks SCOTT WEILAND, 'Chinese Democracy', Upcoming Solo Album; Video Available - Oct. 22, 2009
A Japanese TV interview with VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash conducted this past summer can be viewed below. During the chat, Slash talks about VELVET REVOLVER's split with singer Scott Weiland, GN'R's "Chinese Democracy" album and his upcoming solo record.

Slash has one final track left to record for his forthcoming solo album, which will be released in February/March under the "Slash & Friends" banner. "This song is really cool and the singer is amazing," Slash wrote on his Twitter profile.

Slash has already recorded 18 songs for his upcoming solo LP, including "Sahara" (featuring singer Koshi Inaba of the Japanese hard rock duo B'Z), which will be released as a two-track CD single in Japan on November 11, also containing a version of the GN'R classic "Paradise City" (featuring CYPRESS HILL and Fergie [a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson] of the BLACK EYED PEAS).

Slash tracked most of the album with former NINE INCH NAILS drummer Josh Freese and ex-JANE'S ADDICTION bassist Chris Chaney. Other confirmed guest singers so far include Ozzy Osbourne, AVENGED SEVENFOLD's M. Shadows and Chris Cornell (SOUNDGARDEN, AUDIOSLAVE). The CD was produced by Eric Valentine (GOOD CHARLOTTE, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE) and features additional appearances by ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea and former NIRVANA drummer and current FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl.

Slash left GUNS N' ROSES in the mid-'90s, forming SLASH'S SNAKEPIT before later assembling VELVET REVOLVER with several other ex-members of GUNS N' ROSES and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer Scott Weiland (who was dismissed in April 2008).

Heck - dude can't even bring himself to say 'that singer's' name. There will not be an AFD reunion - you all know that, right?

And Velvert Revolver - it's a damn shame that Scott did not work out, or rather - that he did not conduct himself as more of a team player. L.S.D. syndrome is a bitch.

The band should really seek out the services of Hugh Dillon - I really believe that would be an ideal situation bring forth some good, hard hitting music.

His performance on the song "Atlanta" is the best. Core was shit, but the last 4 STP albums were great too.

Sounds like the only one that really says it like it is! Duff stutters too much and Scott Weiland did his JOB for contraband....i mean have you guys heard the guy?!?!? i went to STP at the FOX theatre like 3 days ago he sounds nasal as fuck! and that libertad tour jesus christ he sounded awful! who bets money that even if fergie is singing a song on this album the rest of it is gonna be more amazing than the STP dont get me wrong the Deleo's are fuckin geniuses but they had something better going with Richard Patrick, Scott's still got it but he thats for his solo shit and if his mind still up on that the STP album isn't gonna be that great on the other hand he just realeased another video for his solo yet nothing from STP has surfaced....

I don't have high hopes for this new album. Find a good frontman and do another VR album.

VR is a boring band... For Christ sakes man, G'n'R Old School line up needs to get back together (Matt Sorum not Stephen Adler... LOL) and Put out a kick ass album. I Miss 'em, There I said it. I love old G'n'R.

Short and to the point. A lot of interviewers avoided questions Slash had already been asked over and over again. This interviewer went ahead anyway and asked away, getting a more detailed perspective. I gave up on GN'R after CD but I'd really like to hear the solo record.
