THEM CROOKED VULTURES: First Single Released - Oct. 26, 2009
"New Fang", the first single from THEM CROOKED VULTURES — which consists of FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl on drums, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE singer/guitarist Josh Homme and LED ZEPPELIN bass player John Paul Jones — is available for streaming in the YouTube clip below. The song comes off the band's self-titled debut album, which will be in stores on November 17 via DGC/Interscope Records.

"Them Crooked Vultures" track listing, according to Billboard.com:

01. No One Loves Me & Neither Do I
02. Mind Eraser, No Chaser
03. New Fang
04. Dead End Friends
05. Elephants
06. Scumbag Blues
07. Bandoliers
08. Reptiles
09. Interlude with Ludes
10. Warsaw or the first Breath You Take After You Give Up
11. Caligulove
12. Gunman
13. Spinning in Daffodils

THEM CROOKED VULTURES officially kicked off its first North American tour on October 5 in Nashville. The group has been the subject of furious international buzz since making its official live debut on August 9 in Chicago.

FOO FIGHTERS drummer Taylor Hawkins told The Pulse of Radio he's heard the VULTURES' record and likes it. "It's really great," he said. "I'm really proud of Dave, and I think he's having a real blast not having to shake his booty at the front of the stage for a while, you know?"

THEM CROOKED VULTURES taped a performance for the Austin City Limits TV program on September 30.

Several short clips of both live and studio performances by the trio have already surfaced on YouTube.

Missed Dave on the skins. Good to hear him back there again. Tight rhythm section in TCV.

not bad, its ok but alittle too much like Queens of the Stone age.. which aint a bad thing. But for a new band I would like a new sound.

it's ok, not loving it. will give the whole record a chance based on the players, but if this weren't Grohl, Homme, and JPJ I'd think it was kind of generic. As above poster noted, sounds a bit too much like QOTSA, and not enough like a mixture of all that these three have done!

I'm with Trevil. 2/3 of the band are talented. Homme is godawful. I made it 45 seconds into the song.

It could be that there are better tunes, but New Fang is the most radio friendly, and it's smarter for the record company to go with that, than to go with the cooler, but less accessible tracks.

Look at some of the comments on this forum. The complaining and the bashing. As if you're all awesome and your opinions matter. (laughs)

Joshua Homme has the midas touch. If you don't agree, then you just don't know.

It's so easy to say JPJ is a god and it's great to hear Grohl on drums again. But anyone in the know understands that Josh is the driving force behind this band. Do you think JPJ or Grohl are doing this for money? Nope. They are doing for the opportunity to work with someone who is arguably the greatest guitarist/songwriter alive.

I'm with you. Grohl and JPJ are doing this just for fun, because they're good friends with Homme, and not for the money.
But unlike what happened with Chickenfoot, THIS IS QUALITY MATERIAL!
I wouldn't go as far as saying that Homme is one of the greatest guitarists alive (he's just average IMO, though I like his playing), but where he stands out is as one of the most talented songwriters I've ever come across, and there's no point on denying that: whether people like him or not, NO ONE is doing what he does nowadays, and NO ONE sounds like him. He's an absolutely unique genius, as well as his partners.
