YNGWIE MALMSTEEN: New Compilation CD To Feature 'Big-Surprise Bonus Track'
- Oct. 26, 2009
Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force Records will release a compilation CD with a "big-surprise bonus track that is a unique song choice for the guitar god," according to a posting on Yngwie's MySpace page. More information will be made available soon.
Rising Force Records has begun releasing rare archival concert footage that many Malmsteen collectors will want to have. The first is Yngwie in Korea, which was madea available on October 13, 2009. This is the raw footage that was shot by the Korean media, and it features no bells and whistles.
"Live In Korea" DVD track listing:
01. Rising Force 02. Catch 22 03. Crucify 04. The Wizard 05. Adagio 06. Far Beyond The Sun 07. Wild One 08. Miracle Of Life 09. Bad Reputation 10. Trilogy Suite - Guitar Solo 11. Masquerade 12. Seventh Sign 13. Acoustic Solo - Black Star 14. I'll See The Light
If you are a completist and want to see these concerts, the DVD is highly recommended.
Malmsteen in March released an all-instrumental acoustic album, "Angels Of Love", which contains rearrangements of his ballad songs played on acoustic guitar and string and choir arrangements only. It is a masterpiece showing the tender, delicate version of his classic songs as well as a new composition. Yngwie also released two DVDs via Rising Force Records in March — "Live Animal" and "Live In Budokan".
"Perpetual Flame", the latest full-length studio album from Malmsteen, was the first-ever Yngwie effort to be issued via Rising Force Records, It marked the debut of Malmsteen's new singer, ex-JUDAS PRIEST/ICED EARTH frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens.

If you think Malmsteen doesn't play with soul, you're a fucking moron. The guy puts every ounce of his heart and soul into his playing. Surely that's pretty fucking evident from any footage of him, even if your ears are too shit to hear it on a record.
But then again he's famous and technical; so typical net nerd counterculture poser response "urrrrrr... all speed no soul"
Malmsteen is a legend; anyone who played guitar in the 80s will tell you that he totally blew them away when they first saw him play. EVH included; and that's one hell of an accolade (again, if you think EVH sucks, you're a moron)
Fucking youtube nerds; go jack off to your "soulful" (read: pretentious, uninteresting and not at all actually soulful) crap.
Malmsteen RULES! but don't forget, he DON'T LIKE DOUGHNUTS and is liable to RELEASE THE FOCKIN FURY if you offer him one :(!

For a guy with "no soul" he's inspired one fuckload of famous musicians, within and without the genre of metal.
A myriad of metal guitarists wouldn't worship him simply cos he plays fast. His playing rocks, which is more than you can say for the majority of his peers (see: Dickhead-beetrootface Batio) in the shred stakes, who are indeed a bunch of hacks who spent way too long with a metronome and way too little playing and listening to music.
Malmsteen is a true virtuoso

Malmsteen plays with huge amounts of feeling and soul which is obvious to anyone who's actually listened to him and seen him in concert - you simply won't find a better guitarist. Have you seen him play melodic passages on acoustic guitar - his fingers are flying playing unbelievably complex passages on an acoustic, yet full of beauty and soul - the man is a true genius of our age. His detractors are sad simpletons who mistake his superb technique and peerless speed for some sort of trickery, these are people who can barely play a note themselves and therefore have no appreciation for genius. People who actually know what they are talking about unanimously agree that Malmsteen is one of the greatest ever, even if they don't care for his songs, they still acknowledge his genius. As for me, a guitarist myself, I bow down to the master - he and Paul Gilbert are the two best in metal - and yes, I have all his albums and dvds and I like them very much! Sure overall a huge career there have been ups and downs in songwriting, as there have been for every other band (Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Priest, Dio, Sabbath, etc etc) but taken as a whole Yngwie's catalog of songs is superb.

He is SCARY with an acoustic in his hands. Check out "Crying" from Trilogy if you think he has no soul...

Yngwie is an unbelievable guitar player. To all the non believers go see him live and watch your jaw drop. Yngwie is as good a guitar player as has ever played.

Ripper sounds like shit with Yngwie. Hopefully he'll find another singer for the next record.

Yngwie's first four solo albums will always be my favorites, but I never miss an album. You may or may not like his style of music or whatever, but as a player...holy christ, the guy is nothing short of amazing, and really, he's a living legend.
Don't give me bullshit about "no feeling" either...as far as I'm concerned, that's just an internet nerd catchphrase and I don't take it any more seriously than somebody who shouts out "PWN3D!!!111!1!" after delivering some pseudo-insult. You just look like an undereducated schmuck.
Seriously, if even the BIGGEST Malmsteen detractor can't listen to at least his instrumentals like Black Star, Icarus' Dream, Overture 1383, Marching Out, Crying, Memories, or half a dozen other songs hear the emotion, the feeling, the passion in those compositions, you're just musically retarded. Period.
