VINCE NEIL Discusses Upcoming Solo Album - Oct. 26, 2009
Jason Le Miere of RevolverMag.com recently conducted an interview with MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

RevolverMag.com: What stage are you at with [your new solo album] album?

Vince Neil: Just working on the music right now. Haven't gotten in the studio yet, just working on songs. We'll probably get the music done next month. I'll get into vocals in December, should have it finished up by January.

RevolverMag.com: How is it different for you playing with you solo band, as opposed to with MÖTLEY CRÜE?

Vince Neil: Well, MÖTLEY CRÜE is, you know, MÖTLEY CRÜE, a big production and everything. My thing is basically going out with my fiends and just having a good time and just playing straight-ahead rock 'n' roll. Right now it's just one-offs, so it's I'm home, then we got to fly to the gig, do the gig, then fly back home, where obviously with MÖTLEY we don't do that. Like I said, in 2010, after the record comes out, we'll go out and do a proper tour and get back on the bus.

RevolverMag.com: How long have you been together with the guys in your solo band?

Vince Neil: I've been with these guys maybe three or four years, I guess. Sometimes band members change in solo bands, some guys go out and do other stuff while I'm playing with MÖTLEY, but these guys I've been together with these guys for a while.

RevolverMag.com: How does the writing process work for your solo album, does everyone contribute?

Vince Neil: Everybody comes in with ideas everybody. It's a band, and we treat it as such. So everybody has ideas. Everybody comes in and we collaborate and put stuff together.

RevolverMag.com: What can we expect from the album, any surprises?

Vince Neil: No, it's just straight-ahead rock 'n' roll, man. That's what I do.

That guy is always on the "go!" He does motley, and then goes right out to doing solo/club dates. He constantly tours and goes from playing arenas with Motley, to clubs.

That solo album with Steve Stevens wasn't too bad. I liked it better than anything Tommy has done (solo). If memory serves me correctly, it was on par with Brides of Destruction. It was better than Nikki's "58" album.

But, I really liked the Heroin Diaries CD

He comes of the motley tour and does a solo tour and plays all motley songs and plays no solo stuff it makes no sense...love to hear some exposed stuff with steve stevens in his band, that would be awesome!! Lets hope his new album is like that and not carved in stone which i thought was pretty average.

Well said, about him doing solo shows but playing all Motley. Do we really need to see Slaughter as your backing band, Vince? Those guys have their own history and are decent live.

Plus, at least in an arena with the Crue, the fans are going nuts and can sing the vocals for him. In a club, it is less crowded and sounds even worse.

Best solo Neil story ever...I saw him at an old sports complex in 2002 or so, when he was on the surreal life. Well, he was engaged to that blonde on the show, etc. Well, at the show I was at, the girl I was dating at the time ran into his "recruiter" in the ladies room. She came out and I met her. She took all my Vince shit on the bus for him to sign for me. But, when I asked her how long she'd known Vince for, her response was "I've been fucking him off and on since the Feelgood tour." She told me they met backstage in Washington, DC. She then went on and told me that she is now his recruiter....naive me asked what that entailed, and she said "I'm tired of fucking him so now I find other girls to do that with him." Nice. Pure rock and roll.

I met him too. He was pretty cool.
He not like most "rock stars", he actully hangs out and stuff.
all of Motley does really. They have a bad rap, but they are pretty damn fan friendly.

Show in Illinois, 2002 I think. Rock Never Stops Tour. Vince headlining. Comes out drunk out of his MIND. Throws his mic into a fan's face before the solo of the 1st song, then walks off. Best performance I've ever seen from him.

I had the pleasure of meeting Vince at his tattoo place in Vegas and he hung out with me for a few minutes while I was getting inked. Very cool guy with a lot of business ventures going on outside of Motley.

Look forward to this new disc.

Is a fucking rockstar. I don't want himto be nice... I don't even care to meet him... He's a fucking Dick. Good. People are to nice these days. Being an asshole is entertaining. He just covers crue songs the whole set anyway. It's fun to get shit house waste and watch crue songs in a small club (w/ Vince doing the vocals.) Will check out the new disc... "Re- Exposed" LOL.
