TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS Checks In From South American Tour - Oct. 27, 2009
Video footage of powerhouse American vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, BEYOND FEAR, ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH) performing in Chile and Brazil during his current South American solo tour can be viewed below.

Tim has checked in from the tour with the following update:

"The South America tour has been great. Just amazing how well they know my solo stuff already; they really sing 'Starting Over' and 'Believe' great every night. Nice to hear that! And, of course, I don't really need to sing anything to 'Burn In Hell' — the fans can handle that!

"The bands with me have been great and I thank them for that!!

"It has been a long tour, but one of the best in my career.

"Thanks to all that brought me here. Now let's do it in the U.S.!

"Also want to say the new BEYOND FEAR songs are sounding great. I have a few days off right now in Brazil so I am writing some lyrics to a few new killer tunes that John Comprix and Matt Sorg gave me. This CD is gonna be great.

"I would also like to send out a big thanks for all the great reviews and kind words about my solo CD ('Play My Game'). This CD is hands down one of the best that I have made... so thanks to all and keep spreading the word.

"Here [see below] is one of the last setlists I did. Trying to make it a nice mix of new and old [material]... solo/BEYOND FEAR/JUDAS PRIEST. This is what the fans want.

"Gotta say, if it were up to me and not the fans out in the crowd, I would play BEYOND FEAR and my solo CD... but they would kill me, LOL. So it has to be a good fun mix of tunes."

but to play Priest stuff that you had nothing to do with, only sang while you were in the band, kinda lame, no? if he wants to do stuff from the 2 albums he sang on, that's different, but to do older Priest, eh, kinda cheesy...

Saw him a couple of weeks ago in Montevideo.
The place was a fucking basement, but Ripper handled excellent, totally professional, great voice and great guy.
Very good show, he didn't do all that setlist, but it was a totally enjoyable night.

I would love to see this, I myself love Tim singing classic Priest, maybe and its cool he isnt doing much of it, but maybe Scream machine next time. I cant wait for the new Beyond Fear. As a fan f Metal this is the kind of set I want to hear from Ripper new and old, oh yea, throw in a Winters Bane tune, maybe Heart of a killer.

Not slamming you here bro, but if you know the whole story of Ripper, he got his national start and his job in Judas Priest by singing Priest songs in a Priest cover band. Him performing these songs kind of fits the whole "Ripper" career, actually. Playing Maiden songs has a lot less to do with his career than the Priest tunes - it's all part of his legacy.

I know Tim personally, and I can tell you for a fact that Tim has the utmost respect for Priest - when he was in the band, and both eras of the Rob Halford era. Tim knows where his career came from - and it was from singing "The Ripper", "Metal Gods", etc.

I think the performance is better than the poor quality of the recording lets on...sounded like there was a pretty good old school ass kicking in there somewhere...one piece of advice-don't try to be Priest without Halford
