BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME To Tour North America With CYNIC, THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT - Oct. 28, 2009
Raleigh, North Carolina-based progressive metalcore quintet BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME will kick off a North American headlining tour on January 8, 2010 in Nashville, Tennessee. Support on the trek will come from CYNIC, THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT and SCALE THE SUMMIT. Exact cities and dates will be announced soon.

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME will play a record-release show for its new album, "The Great Misdirect", this Halloween at the Orange Peel in Asheville, North Carolina. The band will perform the entire new CD "plus some oldies" at the show, which will feature additional appearances by GLASS CASKET featuring BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME drummer Blake Richardson and guitarist Dustie Waring), BRAVEYOUNG and TORCHRUNNER (featuring BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME's merch/light guy Chuck Johnson).

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME will embark on a U.S. tour in November with support from VEIL OF MAYA and ANIMALS AS LEADERS. A list of tour dates can be found at this location.

"The Great Misdirect" was released on October 27 via Victory Records. A song from the CD, "Obfuscation", is available for streaming in the YouTube clip below. The nine-minute-and-fifteen-second track is a testament to the technically otherworldly original and proficient musicianship of BTBAM.

so we can see the real musicians and leave for the mallcore band,

that's obviously what they're trying to do.

makes perfect sense.

It appears as though I am the only person here that doesn't care for all the bands. If I were to go I'd show up for Cynic and leave immediately after.

Devin is hugely talented and I have not heard anything from the DTP - but I heard & saw SYL live and just didn't care for it. I've not heard Scale the Summit, but I have heard & seen BTBAM and just don't like them.

so how many songs do you think each band will get to play in their sets, 3? 4 maybe?

BTBM is great live as are the other bands on this tour, i just hope they all get decent length sets!

It´s a total lack of respect to have such a talented individual supporting this guys.

even putting legacy and metal culture aside, Devin should absolutely be headlining. i'm sure even BTBAM feel uncomfortable about this.

like when NIN opted to play before Janes Addiction earlier this year. that had everyone raising an eyebrow.

anyway - this got me to look up the 'scale the summit' band and they are pretty damn good.

I do not mind that Devin is not headlining. In fact, BTBAM is the more popular band and the bigger draw on this tour. As badass as Devy is he will gain more from this tour by supporting than headlining this time around. If SYL were on this tour though, I would say that they should headline but it's Devin's solo project which doesn't have as big an audience in the states as BTBAM. I love them both but those are the facts.

BTBAM deserves to headline. Thier the bigger draw, and the reason why I will go.

Cynic and Devin Townsend are both respectable in thier own right. But for me, too slow and boaring!!

I like how BTBAM can go from blast beats, and almost a death metal vibe, and transition into some of the most beautiful melodic solos and clean vocal parts that I know of.

Example: anything of Silent Circus

Also, picked up the new album yesterday, not quite as good as Colors on the first listen, but I need to give a week or so to sink in.

Downloaded the new BTBAM album. Jaw-breaking yawn, just like the other turds they've unleashed. This band sucks really, really, really, really, really, really, really hard. How to people listen to this pretentious, disjointed, incoherant whoreshit? Breakdowns, I suppose. I'll never understand. Want a real metalcore band? Listen to Converge. The only metalcore band that matters.

If I go, it's for Cynic and Heavy Devy. Real musicians.

BTBAM are headlining because they're a much bigger band. While I'm not a big fan, they're definitely not "mall core."

Breakdowns? Have you even heard BTBAM? You must be joking. BTBAM are supremely talented and creative, and deserve to share the stage with both of these other awesome bands.

It's really too bad that you think this way, because you seem to have good taste in music. Converge is fantastic.

Didn't Devin say in a couple of video interviews, that his tour was going to be an event with him playing lots of rare stuff? How could he do that being sandwiched in the middle of these bands? What? are we going to get 40 minutes and then break out? He OUTCLASSES these guys, hands down. No offense, but I am eager to hear these other bands, but that's like Hulk Hogan in a room full of midget wrestlers.
