ROB ZOMBIE Explains Album Delay - Oct. 28, 2009
Rob Zombie told Billboard.com that he decided to push back the release date of his fourth solo album, "Hellbilly Deluxe 2: Noble Jackals, Penny Dreadfuls and the Systematic Dehumanization of Cool", because "everything was turning into a chaotic mess." ("Hellbilly Deluxe 2", had been bumped from a November 17 arrival to an undetermined 2010 release date.)

"Basically the label (Geffen) wasn't really in a position to promote it or deal with it," Zombie explained. "It was basically everything, from getting advance copies to the press to...There wasn't even time to make a video (for the first single, 'What?') and we were leaving for the tour. There was the sense that every little thing about the record was rushed — not the music, 'cause that was done for a long time, and that was the thing that was so annoying. We spent so much time crafting the record, we didn't want it to be something that was so chaotic that it became, 'Oh, that's done and gone' two weeks later."

Zombie is offering "Ultimate Fan Packages" through I Love All Access for his upcoming North American tour, which begins this Thursday (October 29) in Phoenix, Arizona. The package includes one ticket per buyer, priority access where allowable, a meet-and-greet with Zombie, a pre-show party, an exclusive Zombie gift bag, a souvenir tour laminate and parking. If you already have a ticket, you can upgrade your existing ticket through the package.

Zombie will be joined on his first headlining trek since 2007 by openers NECROMANTIX and CAPTAIN CLEGG AND THE NIGHT CREATURES. Zombie told The Pulse of Radio that the latter band may be familiar to fans who saw his latest effort as a director, "Halloween II". "CAPTAIN CLEGG AND THE NIGHT CREATURES are . . . they're sort of like the MONKEES," he said. "They were a fictitious band that now became real. They're the band that's playing in the Halloween party in 'Halloween II', which this friend of mine, Jesse Dayton, we formed this fake band for the movie, and people seemed to love it so much it sort of took on a life of its own, and now it's like a real band that's on tour with us."

"Halloween II", Zombie's sequel to his own hit 2007 remake of the iconic horror classic, will be re-released in theatres on October 30 in time for the holiday it's named after.

"Hellbilly Deluxe 2" is the "sequel" to Zombie's first solo studio effort, "Hellbilly Deluxe", released in 1998.

Maybe it's because I haven't heard of one single person that likes any of these new songs.

I figured that was the case. It'd be foolish to rush out his new album if there isn't time to promote it. They have a ton of time now, so they should get on it. We need this new album.

I hope it is even half as kick as as the 1st HBD. The shit I'm hearing is weak... John 5's riffs are pretty boring. To be such a bad ass guitarist he sure writes soulless metal riffs. Although, I haven't heard more than 2 songs off of HBD2 so... I will give it a chance, Hopefully it will surprise me.

This smells bullshitty to me. WHY wasn't there time? Did the label not know you were working on an album, Rob?

And was it the smartest thing to do scheduling those tour dates before everything was in the can? So now you can say, oh we didn't have time to make a video because of these gigs.

Is this your first solo album, Rob? Or your FIFTH?

COMMENT | But you're still touring?

Tours are the #1 way to promote an album, and it can also be hard to fill stadiums if you're going to be playing new songs that fans haven't had a chance to familiarize themselves with yet. And yeah, I'm not sure you need several months to lash together a single video for one of your songs. Bottom line: if the tour is booked you don't push back the album release "indefinitely" unless something is really rotten in Delaware.

If this is as good as the other stuff this guys put his name to then i'll be patient, lets not be too long though. I think the 2 songs we've heard so far are good and i'll look forward to the album.

RZ's music has been all downhill since the first Hellbilly. Not bad, but just not very good either. He is a good show however and I will go if he comes to FL. Personally I wish White Zombie were still together.

That last album was REALLY weak. This is better for sure but not on par with this earlier stuff and far off the mark of the White Zombie stuff. It is passable and I'd listen to it on the radio but wouldn't buy it. I'm not one to speculate, but based on the poor performance of Educated Horses and the generic nature of these new songs, I wouldn't be surprised if Geffen's reaction was 'meh' not sure if we can get behind another turd. The great chemistry of Rob's old band is gone and it shows. This stuff, even this OK new song has no soul, no groove, and is over produced. John 5 might be a bad ass player, but I've yet to hear any song he has ever written with any band that is just amazing music wise. Rob needs to get a new band me thinks.

hey mr. moof,
what is the fourth album of his then if you are claiming this is the fifth, cause last time i checked, he has

hellbilly deluxe
the sinister urge
educated horses

the live album doesnt count, and i am not quite sure why everyone hate educated horses so much, if foxy foxy wasn't on there, it would be "all killer and no filler", it's my favorite of his, i really don't care for the two new songs that are out...really weak!

im thinking he suffers from the same thing that is ailing mudvayne,,,,,they just cant seem to pull it all together and put out a hard rockin metal album,,,,each follow up gets weaker and weaker.....allthow i do like that candy song.....im thinking that the label probably isnt happy and wants him to write a couple radio friendly hits......

I wasn't a big fan of Horses but I will say the best tracks were not the singles. There was some cool shit on Horses and it wasn't played on the radio. I wish Rob still had the Hellbilly lineup goin'.
