STONE TEMPLE PILOTS To Complete New Album After Tour - Oct. 28, 2009
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS spent the last few months working on a new studio album with producer Don Was. The band currently has tour dates through the beginning of 2010, after which the group is expected to resume recording the CD for a tentative spring/summer release.

"When we get back, we're going to finish the album," singer Scott Weiland tells Spinner.com. "And then when we finish the album, there will be a big tour around its release and that will probably be a long tour."

The upcoming release of PILOTS' sixth studio album and first since 2001's "Shangri-La-Dee-Da" has been complicated by a contractual dispute between Weiland, drummer Eric Kretz and STP's label, Atlantic Records.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS were reactivated in 2008 after a six-year layoff, during which time Weiland recorded two albums with VELVET REVOLVER before being dismissed in April 2008.

Weiland issued a second solo effort, called "Happy In Galoshes", last November and has been touring on his own behind that release.

STP's are one of the only bands that I like that I enjoy all of their albums, not one bad album to their name!

and their last is so underrated. Very diverse, like an older style band, taking risks, heavy, and mellow stuff. Dean Deleo would have been a guitar hero if he were out in the 70's. He does borrow from Page, but he is very creative, lots of odd chords...hopefully they can continue where they left off, but they cut out alot of prime years unfortunately.

I think all their albums rule, but not equally, my favourite is still Core. But the others are also 5 star albums, i guess i just think Core is a 6 star album (out of 5)

I need to get Scotts new solo album (well i need to get his old one too, but i'll get the new one first) is it any good? Its psychedelic right?

I just saw them in St Augustine on October 3rd and they were awesome! Love all their albums as well, Purple being my favorite. Will be anxious to hear new CD and another show!! These guys are one of those bands I could travel around to see multiple times! Glad STP is back together. Now if Scott can stay clean, life will be good.

Oh yeah...STP a band again! I love it! The DeLeo Brohters and Eric Kretz are sooo underated it's not funny those of us who "really like the band" know this and we don't care...we love em...and of course its great to hear Scott talking about a new STP album and a tour....this band deserves longevity and I don't want to jinx it...but I think these guys have finally wethered the storm! Just saw them a coupla months ago at Mohegan Sun and they haven't lost a step...sooo looking forward to the new album!

i hope the album is good. as others have said, all of their albums are good.

I loved STP but toward the end they were getting burnt out. Strange albums and Scott's voice just kept sounding more and more shot. The Velvet Revolver albums and solo albums make me a bit more leery. The STP crew is a talented bunch though so well have to see. I'm going to be keeping am eye out for sure.

THE 2 V.R. ALBUMS WERE BACK2BACk... PERFECT 10s!

I also AGREE 100% About Dean DeLeo being a real creative guy!!!!!!! That's why Shangrila (and No.4) was so fucking amazing.

Yeah their last album was my 2 favorite, I can't pick one over the other. It's Core << Purple < Tiny Gifts < No. 4 = Shangrila for me, easily.

I think the reason some people are disappointed with Scott Weiland's solo records is because they expect/want them to sound like STP--they don't.

If you like an artist, like his original style, want to support him, curious, or simply can't get enough--then buy the solo stuff and enjoy.
