BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME will play a record-release show for its new album, "The Great Misdirect", this Halloween at the Orange Peel in Asheville, North Carolina. The band will perform the entire new CD "plus some oldies" at the show, which will feature additional appearances by GLASS CASKET featuring BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME drummer Blake Richardson and guitarist Dustie Waring), BRAVEYOUNG and TORCHRUNNER (featuring BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME's merch/light guy Chuck Johnson).

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME will embark on a U.S. tour in November with support from VEIL OF MAYA and ANIMALS AS LEADERS. A list of tour dates can be found at this location.

"The Great Misdirect" was released on October 27 via Victory Records. A song from the CD, "Obfuscation", is available for streaming in the YouTube clip below. The nine-minute-and-fifteen-second track is a testament to the technically otherworldly original and proficient musicianship of BTBAM.

so..........you're tellin' me

Two legends, Cynic and Devy (the best musician still breathing) are OPENING for these guys?

Cynic? A band that redefined a genre????

Townsend? The single greatest mind in heavy music today????

Opening for the psychadelic version of Killswitch Engage?

I'll still be there

Unless the tour (this or any) goes across Canada the headlines should read "US + Toronto and Montreal tour dates announced" as opposed to "North American dates announced." This way I don't get my hopes up.

Best tour ever!!!1 Granted, BTBAM shouldn't be headlining this AT ALL, but they have been making GREAT albums and do need to be on this tour. Dev is Dev; not much needs to be said there. He is amazing in about anything he does (didn't like the first SYL album).

Cynic, on the other hand, are gods!!! THEY should be headlining this tour and it INFURIATES me that they STILL haven't done a headlining tour yet. Oh well, it'll be my first time seeing them and I'm SOOOO excited!

I'm excited to see Cynic, especially since they are coming to Louisville so I don't have to leave town to see them, but why is BTBAM headlining. They wouldn't even have existed if it weren't for bands like Cynic, and I could care less for the Devin Townsend Project, I saw Devin Townsend band open for Opeth and they sucked major balls. But just to see Cynic will be well worth it.

Yes! I've only seen BTBAM once, and it was 2 songs and for 30 minutes. It was killer. Someone called BTBAM the psychedelic killswitch engage? haha, what a joke. I get that BTBAM might be a hard band to get into, but that is because their music is different from anyone elses and they are leaps and bounds ahead of their peers. Cynic is great, but BTBAM is a bigger draw and do deserve a headlining tour. Get over it.

I'm disappointed by the lack of a Connecticut show, but oh well, I'll just stay home. As far as the order of the lineup is concerned, Devin Townsend and Cynic are gods to the hard-line metal faithful, but Between the Buried and Me are the biggest name on the bill. Money talks and this is just a marketing decision, nothing personal.

I third both peeps saying eff that to no new mexico date. I swear, no one even knows we exist, we're like this giant black hole on the map where bands hardly ever come. So think imma go to the Tempe date. I vote giant NM roadtrip, everybody who wants to go to this show cram in some cars and head on down :P

And I definitely think Devy should be headlining. Hands down. He's the one I'm going for, never was really able to get into BTBAM.

I'm excited for all the bands. Each one brings something different to the table.

For those of you who think Cynic are amazing, which they are, but are hating on Between the Burried and Me, this proves to me that most of you have never made it the whole way through Alaska or Colors. Did you all love beer the first time? No. BTBAM is amazing band and an amazing live act. Good group of guys too.

And saying Devin Townsend isn't good live is just ign't. Ocean Machine, Physicist, Terria, Accelerated Evolution. Huge back catalog full of genious and the new album sounds great from what I've heard. I've seen the dude live many times and he puts on a wicked show.

Scale the summit alone would even be worth the price of admission.

Just sayin.

Can't wait for Townsend and Cynic, what a logical pairing, two titans of originality, texture and musicianship in heavy music. Haven't heard BTBAM, but I will check them out.

Only sucks with Townsend so low on the bill, he won't be able to delve too much into his back catalogue, if at all. Hopefully he plays some off-dates?

I mentioned this yesterday.

It's simple.

It's THEIR tour.

It's in support of THEIR new album.

THEIR label is the only one that can fund such a tour.

Cynic are the original Meshuggah, but with 1,000 times less exposure. Strapping Young Lad is well known, but Devin Townsend, funding his own label and albums couldn't pull off a headling gig.

It's not that hard when you listen to reason as to why the band is taking top billing. Additionally, this is a Live Nation tour, BTBAM were part of a promotion yesterday where they sold tickets at the Fillmore Charlotte for $10, the likes of which I attended. They hand selected only a few bands across the US to do this. You tell me what band ultimately has the pull here.

This is really starting to piss me off now,

Between the Buried and Me are the band that sells, BY FAR, the most records out of any of those bands. Where as CYNIC sold only 800 copies of "Traced in Air" first week, BTBAM's "Colors" sold 22,000. You tell me who is the bigger draw. If Cynic's name was the one in really huge font at the top of the concert bill its almost a gaurantee that each gig would not sell out. Sure, Cynic are fucking amazing but if you dont have enough record sales to sustaine a tour like this then there is just no chance in hell your going to headline a 25 date NORTH AMERICAN TOUR!!!

Also, the new BTBAM album is pure fucking prog INSANITY!

Yea....I think the point that most are making is that album sales have nothing to do with a band's talent. So yea, go listen to your simplistic mallcore garbage...Cynic and Devin all the way!

WOW.....simply put......fucking WOW! MALLCORE?!?!?

Sure, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but stating something that has no pull or relevance is just retarded. There has never been anything mallcore about Between the Buried and Me. Let me even state this, I do not even consider myself to be a BTBAM fan. Im more so a fan of their last 2 records, which are influenced by bands like Cynic, Opeth and Dream Theater, not actual MALLCORE bands like Escape the Fate...who are terrible.

I cant begin to see how anyone, fan or not, could associate BTBAM with Mallcore. Because if so, Cynic's "Traced In Air" would be the ultimate essential "Mallcore" album by your standards Zardoz79. You really need to listen to the new album "The Great Misdirect" from start to finish. It might not make you a fan, but you'll at least see the extreme ignorance and stupidity that came to you with your mallcore comment.

And, did it ever occur to you that BTBAM get to choose thier openers on a tour? You should be thankful that they thought of genre-mates Cynic and Scale the Summit who have no real hardcore fanbase to do a tour on thier own. Are those bands great? Yes, of course. But theres no way in hell they could do a tour on thier own.
