OZZY OSBOURNE: 'I Want To Give The Audience My Heart And Soul Every Night' - Oct. 30, 2009
Ray Waddell of Billboard.com reports: Billboard will fete Ozzy Osbourne with the "Legend of Live" award at the 2009 Billboard Touring Awards, set for November 5 at New York's Roosevelt Hotel. The "Legend of Live" award recognizes an individual who has made significant and lasting contributions to live music and the touring business, and acknowledges the recipient's commitment to the art of performing live and reaching fans through the concert experience.

Ozzy recently moved his booking responsibilities to William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, where his responsible agent is contemporary music head Marc Geiger — one of the founders of Lollapalooza. "WME is thrilled that we get to work with Ozzy," says Geiger. "I don't even know what to say, as he has accomplished so much in so many areas, let alone his influence on thousands of rock musicians and fans. We are just lucky to be able to work with him…and by the way, the new record sounds incredible. Ozzy rules."

Ozzy would be the first to admit he's not perfect. And the road can become a grind these days. "I want to give the audience my heart and soul every night, but sometimes I pull it off and sometimes I don't," he says. "We're human. I don't use any tricks, I don't lip synch my voice, what you see is what you get. I've done my fair share of bad gigs, and I'm not embarrassed to say that."

Yes, that's all well and good, but I think a decent vocal performance should be top of the list. We are well aware he doesn't lip synch, and at this point, I almost wish he did.

Of course he has used a vocal "backup" singer on past Ozzfests, namely someone offstage that sings at the same time to cover up the cracks in his voice. That man was one Robert Mason, vocalist on the 2nd Lynch Mob album.

Watching that Blizzcon show was almost painful to behold. Talk about beating a dead horse.

Actually more of a "typo fail."

The "g" being right beside the "h" and all.

He gave his soul to Satan and $harron his paycheck. For that, he got punished by having Jack, Kelly and the other one nobody talks about. Not a good deal.....Not a good deal.

Anyone who slags Ozzy on this site is a fucking asshole. I've seen Ozzy in concert more than a dozen times over the years, and yeah there have been some less-than-stellar performances mixed in with the awesome shows that I've seen. But I can't say that I ever felt that Ozzy "phoned it in".

I *will* say that his drummer Mike Bordin sucked balls at the last Ozzfest show I went to. Completely dropped the ball on almost every song. Dammit, why did Randy Castillo have to die???

Yeah, that's right, and neither is his (wretched excuse for a)wife.
I haven't gone to a Live Ozzy Show since Jake E. Lee was in the band. One negative thing the "ole Goat" will be remembered for is RUINING the Concert Experience for everyone who's ever been in a Floor Seat. Yeah keep waving those hands Ozzy...What a total bore.
