SLAYER Members Discuss 'Playing With Dolls' Track; Video Available - Oct. 30, 2009
This past summer while co-headlining the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour, the members of SLAYER sat down on their tour bus backstage in Camden, New Jersey and talked about the eleven tracks on their upcoming album, "World Painted Blood". In the latest clip — which can be viewed below — Jeff Hanneman (guitar), Kerry King (guitar) and Tom Araya (bass, vocals) give us the backstory on "Playing With Dolls"" (clip courtesy of Fangoria.com).

The official CD-release and listening party for "World Painted Blood" will be held on Friday, October 30 at Duff's Brooklyn in Williamsburg, New York beginning at 9:00 p.m. Free "World Painted Blood" merchandise and autographed copies of the best-selling Decibel magazine to date — the SLAYER issue — will be given away at the 21-and-over event, for which there is no cover.

The address is:

Duff's Brooklyn
168 Marcy Avenue (between S 5th & Broadway)
Williamsburg, New York

For more information, visit www.duffsbrooklyn.com.

Starting tonight at midnight, SLAYER will commandeer MySpace.com's Music homepage and brand new Music Video homepage for the entire Halloween weekend.

The first SLAYER Halloween treat will be the exclusive premiere of "World Painted Blood", which is due in stores next Tuesday, November 3. You've probably heard a few morsels from it — "Psychopathy Red", "Hate Worldwide", and the title track — but now you'll be able to hear "Snuff", "Public Display of Dismemberment", "Not of This God", and "Beauty Through Order" — the whole thing, start to finish and on demand - until Tuesday when you can own your very own copy.

But if you really want to get creeped out this Halloween, then check out the video graphic novel "Playing With Dolls", which will be exclusively available for viewing on MySpace Music only through the weekend, and then on Tuesday as part of the "World Painted Blood" deluxe edition.

No mere music video, the 20-minute "Playing with Dolls" (which is included in the "World Painted Blood" deluxe edition) was created and directed by Mark Brooks ("Metalocalypse") and is a stark, 12-part nightmare that breathes corrupt life into SLAYER's latest syllabus of stalkers, psychopaths and serial killers, merging their aberrant psyches into the supremely focused desire of a single, merciless malcontent. A methodical distillation of one man's lethal frenzy, the film follows the gruesome outbursts of a nameless protagonist. He is not an indiscriminate murder junkie, but rather a highly creative snuff-artist with a deeply personal sense of purpose — a man for whom murder is the only conceivable way forward. With a black heart hardened by tragedy, he chooses his victims carefully. His methods are as grisly and varied as they are poetic.

To complete this seizing of MySpace Music, every slot on the MySpace's Music Video homepage will be filled with SLAYER music videos, shout-outs, digital clips of the band providing some behind-the-scenes perspective on "World Painted Blood", and other terrifying tidbits.

What were you expecting? Tom singing like Glen Benton? Every song had it's blast beat? This is Slayer, this is a thrash metal band not a cookie monster death band. Playing With Dolls isn't more radio friendly than Spill The Blood or Seasons In The Abyss were. This Slayer 2K10 not Slayer 1983. Still as heavy but less Maiden-esque

Um, no. This song DOES suck really bad, as do the songs I've heard so far. And Seasons is VASTLY superior and much less radio friendly than this. But unfortunately nobody can make these guys 20 years old again.

And the album too. It's in the stores already in Australia, guess they broke the embargo as they've done before.

Are these guys on crack? Fuck, these are the lamest interviews and album promos I've ever seen. Kerry King's got, like, what - a 20 word vocabulary? Tom sounds like he's got the paranoid dope thing going on. Only Jeff and Dave sound halfway normal, and that's not saying much. More I hear this band interviewed, especially in the past few years, the less impressed I am. Do they really have nothing to say about anything? Are these really their deepest insights? I know 25 plus years of touring, playing, drinking and all that shit takes it toll, but do they honestly have nothing to say but, "Yeah, I like this song, because I'm singing." Thanks, Tom. Here, have another box of wine.

What matters, though, is the album, and from what I've heard, it will be their best since Seasons. I can handle that...

Yea, real fucking radio friendly. "I Slit your throat just to keep my flesh warm" Yup, can see that becoming a pop hit.

This song is great and am loving this album. I didnt get the sp. edition though.

Only song I am really feeling that is weak is Americon. Very Cliche (oil, money, blah blah.)

Playing with Barbies right now ... with a drill. Kinda takes me back to when I was a young lad, stealing my sisters Barbies and creating orifices to stick firecrakers in, light and chuck out the window. GOOD TIMES!

WPB is great and all the tunes are worthy. I just listened to it back to back with Seasons and WPB held its own. In fact, the drums sound better on WPB. Playing With Dolls is sick and one of my favorite tracks. It is the little things, like some of the percussion hits you don't hear until after 3-4 listens. WPB may be Slayer's most complex record to date. Solid.

only posting to start shit or were they real fan of the band at some point ???

I think that WPB is a well balanced album. It has enough new elements to have it's own personnality and make it worth the purchase and at the same time it has enough of the older records to not deny its roots.

Anyway, everyone is entitled to his opinion and mine is WPB is a great record by a great band and has its place right beside Reign, Seasons and God Hates Us All.

On the first spin i thought wtf....cheap, bad songs, bad production. But at just the second spin, it kinda started blowing my mind each time more. Brutal album...catchy, good songs, fast, VERY thrashy.

Personally I liked one of the slower songs more.....Human Strain or something.

.........FROM THE ONLY CHILDDDDD.......

One of the best songs on the album IMO.

Bash me all you want, but A LOT of Slayers music sounds the same and this one stands out almost the most out of all their music. Like I said, my opinion, not like it matters but I like this song a lot.

To me, this song is scary as fuck! The intro and "die in front of me" send chills down my spine! Great track.
