Entire 'Canadian Carnage' Tour Postponed; MACHINE HEAD's NY Show Rescheduled - Nov. 2, 2009
Canadian concert promoters Gillett Entertainment Group (Groupe Spectacles Gillett) has announced the postponement of the "Canadian Carnage" tour featuring SLAYER, MEGADETH, MACHINE HEAD and SUICIDE SILENCE. The trek, which was due to begin on November 8, was called off after SLAYER frontman Tom Araya was ordered to undergo an immediate surgical procedure for a back injury, thought to be related to his on-stage activity. More information will be released shortly regarding the new Canadian dates.

Fortunately, MACHINE HEAD was able to reschedule its only United States headlining show at the Crazy Donkey in Farmingdale, New York. The concert is now set to take place Thursday, November, 12.

On November 14, MACHINE HEAD will join up with MEGADETH in Grand Rapids, Michigan, through December 3 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Immediately after, MACHINE HEAD will join up with METALLICA in Las Vegas on December 5, for the West Coast leg of their tour, ending with a triumphant hometown show for both bands at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

MEGADETH's new album, "Endgame", has sold around 80,000 copies in the United States since its release six weeks ago.

"Endgame" sold 45,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 9 on The Billboard 200 chart.

MEGADETH's previous CD, "United Abominations", opened with around 54,000 copies in the U.S. to debut at No. 8. This was more than the 46,000 first-week tally registered by its predecessor, "The System Has Failed" (which landed at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart), and was a bit less than the 61,000 opening number of 2001's "The World Needs A Hero" (No. 16).

"Endgame" was recorded at MEGADETH's brand new, self-built studio in San Marcos, California — Vic's Garage — which was named after the legendary and iconic Vic Rattlehead character. The CD was helmed by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine and British producer Andy Sneap (EXODUS, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD).

Please reschedule this!

Halifax has been waiting for Megadeth for a LONG TIME!

Why not just come without Slayer and play a full set??? :(

When I heard this I wasn't sure if that meant the whole tour is postponed, or just Slayer.

I also have Halifax tickets, and I was kinda hoping Megadeth would do a full set after hearing this. In all honesty, Megadeth is why I got tickets, Slayer was just a bonus to me. Bummer we have to wait. Oh well, I got my GnR tickets, which will probably come first as I don't see Tom recovering overnight from back surgery.

Cosyninja, yes for sure... I thought Megadeth would just do a full set and all would be right with the world. Sucks that we have to wait. I think Megadeth could go ahead with this show and still have the same number of fans. Slayer has been in Halifax before... Megadeth has not.

Come on Dave! Come to Halifax anyway!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe that they would cancel the whole tour......Megadeth are more than capable of headlining a whole show without a co-headliner. They did it in Australia when Slayer had to cancel a show so why can't they just do the same here for a few shows. It's not like they have many shows left to play.......I've seen Slayer before and they kicked ass so this would've been my first time seeing Megadeth and now I have to wait until who knows when.......the Metal Gods must be pissed........

Had tickets to the Halifax show too (Nice to see a healthy Nova Scotia representation on here).

I was amped to see Megadeth and Machine Head. I'm not into Slayer as much and I saw them before when they came through with Damageplan.

What sucks the absolute most about this is that odds are it won't be Slayer, Megadeth and Machine Head returning to the "rescheduled" date...it will be Slayer and who knows what bands.

The other thing that ultimately blows donkey nuts is that this date won't be rescheduled until sometime in 2010. The band has European commitments until late December...and not too many bands tour over the holiday season.

I would rather wait to find out if/when the date will be rescheduled and what bands will be on the bill before I get a refund on the tickets.

The show will be worth seeing if they are able to reschedule. I saw the show in Calgary a while ago and had a great time. Megadeth was more my thing but Slayer was lots of fun to. Hope his back gets better. having had back surgery myself I can say that my recovery time was a bitch

I have floor tickets for Toronto to see Slayer and Megadeth was a bonus. I could care less if Suicide Silence are there was planning on skipping em to drink so beers anyway. Machine Head is also bonus but really hope they can reschedule with both Slayer and Megadeth on the bill. Also Machine Head would be cool but ditch the screaming emo kids trying to scare their parents band.

It's really hard to find out. You have to go to www.slayer.net and read the page marked tour, UK tour unaffected.

How can an Album as good as Endgame only sell 80,000 copies in the States. This is album of the year for me.

clearly i'm in the minority here but i bought tickets to see Slayer. If the tour would have continued without them I, and about 12 of the people I spoke to yesterday, would have been looking for a refund.

Get better Tom and we'll see you in 2010.

The only band I can live without on this tour is Suicide Silence. I would rather wait to see Slayer on the tour than a full Megadeth set or some other filler band. It's not that I don't like Megadeth (they have been a main staple of my metal diet snce I was a kid), but seeing 2 of the big 4 in the same show is going to be amazing! That's wat I paid to see, I am hoping that it happens soon. Get well fast Tom!
