TARJA TURUNEN: Audio Recording Of New Song Performance Available - Nov. 3, 2009
An audio recording of former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen performing a new song, "In For A Kill", on October 30 in Tampere, Finland at Tampere Hall with the Tampere Filharmonics (led by Benjamin Vary) can be streamed using the player below.

Tarja performed four songs in total during this special Halloween concert: "Witch-Hunt" and "In For A Kill", along with "Oasis" and "I Walk Alone" from her debut solo album, "My Winter Storm".

Check out photos of the performance at this location.

Turunen recently recorded three songs for a Finnish Christmas album, produced by Olli Ahvenlahti. According to Turunen, this is "a charity project for missionary workers in Finland and it is going to be released in the beginning of November in Finland."

Regarding the title of her forthcoming CD ("What Lies Beneath"), Turunen recently said, "With [2007's] 'My Winter Storm', I chose the name of the album in the early stages and that helped me to create the concept for the album. With the new album, I decided to do it the same way, so I searched for an inspiring title and all the songs are one way or another related to it."

Why the hell is this here? It's horrible. I've heard death metal I liked more.

It's here because, if you like it or not, it is metal.
And I think it sounds awesome! Much better then a lot of the songs from her My Winter Storm album.

I'm looking forward to hearing the true versions of these new songs. Having been reworked for an orchestra, these are probably nothing like the form they will take on the album. Sounds like WLB is going to be quite a sinister album :)

Anyway, will always love Tarja's drama and luminosity on stage - she's hard to top.

I was very unimpressed of My Winter Storm, but this sounds more promising. I think this song will sound pretty good on a record. I hope Tarja's songwriting has improved a lot since MWS. A great voice is of no value if it is wasted on poor songs.

...is not innovative at all, I remember Nightwish songs used to be synths chord-oriented back during the first demo. The composition is very edgy, not flowing at all, what can I say, her voice sounds great though. All she needs is to stop just throwing random intervals into a song and write some chords to go with them.
