DAVE MUSTAINE: The Most Important Thing Is TOM ARAYA's Rehabilitation - Nov. 3, 2009
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update:

"I want to inform you that it is indeed true, we are postponing our Canadian Carnage tour due to our tour mates in SLAYER needing some time off for frontman Tom Araya to address some personal matters with his health. We send our best wishes to Tom and look forward to his speedy recovery. Meanwhile, we will be rescheduling these dates in the near future, although that date is currently unknown, and contingent upon SLAYER's notifying us of Tom's progress. The most important thing is Tom's rehabilitation, and we will no doubt have good news for you all soon."

The "Canadian Carnage" tour — featuring SLAYER, MEGADETH, MACHINE HEAD and SUICIDE SILENCE — was called off after SLAYER frontman Tom Araya was ordered to undergo an immediate surgical procedure for a back injury, thought to be related to his on-stage activity.

Fortunately, MACHINE HEAD was able to reschedule its only United States headlining show at the Crazy Donkey in Farmingdale, New York. The concert is now set to take place Thursday, November, 12.

MEGADETH's new album, "Endgame", has sold around 80,000 copies in the United States since its release six weeks ago.

"Endgame" sold 45,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 9 on The Billboard 200 chart.

MEGADETH's previous CD, "United Abominations", opened with around 54,000 copies in the U.S. to debut at No. 8. This was more than the 46,000 first-week tally registered by its predecessor, "The System Has Failed" (which landed at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart), and was a bit less than the 61,000 opening number of 2001's "The World Needs A Hero" (No. 16).

"Endgame" was recorded at MEGADETH's brand new, self-built studio in San Marcos, California — Vic's Garage — which was named after the legendary and iconic Vic Rattlehead character. The CD was helmed by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine and British producer Andy Sneap (EXODUS, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD).

Why can't we get this tour in America. Have Anthrax get back with Belladonna and throw Exodus on there and lets thrash it up.

More metal in North America, period? Not to mention the rest of the world.

Europe gets a ton of festivals (Download, Wacken, etc.) and a lot of great bands play there often.

wonder what tom could have done. i've seen them a few times and never noticed tom jump around or off of anything, just headbangin', but i guess it can sometimes not take much to torque up a back. sucks he goes under the knife the day the cd drops.
hope it heals quickly to 100% and then we get a "big" announcement that this tour package will extend to the US.

Hope Tom gets back on track soon. If it's a flipped disk, he may be out. Just got my ticket to the Dutch show on 30th of Nov.
So we'll just mention Tom in all our prayers to Satan and ask the Dark lord to relieve Tom of his aches and while he's at it, take away any catholic influence that could endager the further future of the masters of Thrash. Hail Satan.

Big four tour: Slayer, Megadeth, Exodus, Agent Steel
==================================
Metallica= non-thrash / Anthrax=been away too long / Testament=not good enough / Venom (?)=too desperate

The way you said it, makes someone who didn't know the situation think that Tom might be visiting with Dr. Drew. If you are going to run your mouth about it, drop the "personal matters with his health" part and just mention the back surgery and you want everyone to pray for a successfull surgery and a speedy recovery. Back surgery is fucking common and not very embarrassing, especially for someone who does what Tom does. Dave, you know damn well that "personal health issues" is cliched spin for "I am a junkie and have to go to rehab". Edit yourself jackass.

Why is everyone trashing Dave? All he did was wish him a speedy recovery. Stop over-analyzing the statements you retards. He knows we all know about his back, HE KNOWS WHAT THE INTERNET IS.

I agree also, you guys need to give Dave and Blackie a break, just because they are a little older and wiser now, and not out raising hell and sacrificing virgins and such. They still put alot of effort into their shows, and write decent music...which is more than I can say for most bands that have been around that long.

Good luck to Tom, and hope the rest of the tour goes well.
