HYPOCRISY Experiencing Trouble With U.S. Immigration - Nov. 3, 2009
Swedish death metallers HYPOCRISY have issued the following statement in regards to their upcoming North American tour with ENSIFERUM, which was scheduled to start on Friday, November 6:

"Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are forced to stay home until U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services process and authorize our working visas. This is the first time the band has faced a situation like this and it's extremely frustrating, as well as depressing, since the last thing we want to do is disappoint our loyal fans who have waited years to see us live in the U.S.

"We filed for our visas with plenty of time, but as some probably don't know, the US government has changed its rules when it comes to visas issued to artists so it's become tougher. Even if we have already toured the U.S. numerous times.

"As it stands now, we are on stand-by mode and waiting to receive the green light. We hope it's just a few days before that happens. In the meantime, we want to apologize to all the fans that planned on going to see us tear shit up live. We will do our best to rejoin the tour as soon as possible!"

HYPOCRISY has enlisted CHILDREN OF BODOM frontman Alexi Laiho to play guitar on the tour. Alexi will temporarily fill the currently vacant guitarist spot on the trek, which will also include headliners BLACKGUARD and SWASHBUCKLE.

"A Taste Of Extreme Divinity", the new album from HYPOCRISY, is being released in the U.S. today (November 3) via Nuclear Blast Records.

The North American mail-order version of "A Taste of Extreme Divinity" features three exclusive bonus tracks.

HYPOCRISY's last album, "Virus", came out in September 2005 via Nuclear Blast Records.

you know, i was just thinking to myself the other day "why hasn't al queda tried disguising themselves as a metal band to get into the country?" now i guess i know the answer. what a joke.

sounds like everyone's on the same page as me. if you don't belong in the u.s. you'll have no problem getting in and staying. if you want to come here and do things legit, you get screwed.

It's so weird how some bands have no problems, yet others get completely fucked over.

Bands should just say they are coming here for a vacation and avoid all the bullshit!

and yes its fucking bullshit, these guys do everything ahead of time and legal, yet all these fucking illegal immigrants have no problem, and all the corrupt politicians doing as they please, yet a metal band wants to perform for its fans, fuck this stupid system, its like Bruce dickinson said when people were attacking heavy metal, they should focus on the true evil, politicians and high ranking bankers/ceos who fuck everything up

might not go to Allentown Saturday then... First Marduk got screwed and now Hypocrisy...

Well they certainly chose a proper band name, because as many others have mentioned what passes for border control here is Hypocrisy.

you must be kidding me. these days you have to apply online for a simple visa waiver for a one day transit stay in the US, even as a citizen of Spain, the Netherlands, Germany or any Scandi country.

And that fucking TSA & Homeland Security assholes would break the lock for my camera pelicases every time I travel through the US unlike the other 64 countries I been to.

I told my boss I will never ever enter the US again and that's a pledge. This is worse than Israel. Or Iran.

As if Al Qaeda could not find another way in. Give me a break.

...I can attest that the procedure for getting permission to play in the US is insane these days. The amount of paperwork is staggering, you have to visit the US embassy in your country for personal interviews/questioning, show the contracts for every individual venue for the tour and so forth. And then it can take anything from "a few days" to "a few weeks" to get the passports back. It's not like a rock/metal band are in the position to get the embassy to hurry up with the processing, and this is most likely the case here. Everything is done correctly, but there's a delay in getting the actual visas.

A lot of bands just enter as "tourists" and hope for the best, but those who do it the legal way and actually get work visas and the proper permission (thus giving money to the US) are treated like criminals.

Sure, oppression. You, my friend, are a funny chap. Do you live on some Colorado river bank, or is it the moon? Ever heard about the Iron Wall coming down in the late Eighties/early Nineties.

I don't know where YOU locate Europe on the map, the Europe I myself know - Netherlands, France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Portugal, Finland, Switzerland, Austria, UK, Denmark, Croatia, Greece - does offer by FAR more personal freedom than I experienced in the US when I was working in Maine and in Tampa.

Jealous? Socialism my ass, moron.

There are quite a few European bands on tour right now that didn't have a problem getting their working visas. I would think that the problem here might be who Hypocrisy has working for them. Their management/travel liasons are probably not getting the job done and should be fired.

I guess I won't be going to Allentown....
