Official Metallica.com footage from METALLICA's October 31, 2009 concert Colisée Pepsi in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada can be viewed below.

METALLICA has set November 23 as the release date for "Francais Por Une Nuit", or "French For One Night", the full-length concert DVD that the band filmed in Nimes, France on July 7, 2009. The show took place at a historic Roman amphitheatre called the Arenes de Nimes. In addition to the band's complete 18-song set, the disc also includes interviews with the group and five video clips shot by members of the audience. Although initially announced as a France-only release, fan demand has led to Metallica also making the set available through their web site, Metallica.com, as well as the site of the French branch of the band's record company.

A statement posted on the band's web site said, "ALL aspects of the project are French as the show was filmed, recorded, and edited with French camera and recording crews, the artwork on the package and special box set (more on that in a minute!) were created by a French design team; even the credits are in French."

The DVD will come in three formats: standard DVD or Blu-ray in a digipack including a 16-page booklet, and a deluxe limited edition box set that includes the DVD, a copy of "Death Magnetic" on CD, a T-shirt, laminated pass, and five exclusive photos.

It needs more Death Magnetic songs. I'm sorry, I saw them for the 6th time in Cleveland and it will be the last. 2nd worst show I've seen them do. Reload tour is number 1 simply due to acoustic kill em all part of the set.

Glad you enjoyed the Reload tour. The concept of them doing an acoustic Kill Em All set is more of the self indulgent bullshit that made me stop going to see them. It all surfaced during the black album tours. Two long guitar solos, one bass solos leading into Nothing Else Matters....there's not enough overpriced draft beer in the world to make that shit work.

UGH!
Bon Jovi's old director too, mind you!
He did the shitty direction for Live Shit Binge and Purge (The Black Album tour part)!
It was nearly unwatchable!

I believe he directed the Nothing Else Matters video.
A small part of me would like to see Kip Winger make a comeback and film a video where he's throwing darts at a picture of Lars' bald head.

Sanitarium w/ Trujillo - a must track + Shortest straw, which they fkd up when I saw them in '89. Good to see that they are human, too. Course I read (metal mag.) that they did that on occ. just to be fresh, according to Het. Lars said he can't think of a better place to film a show...uhhh NIMES comes to mind - what an arena that is...can't wait for that to get here.Nov.23rd - Metallica.com. btw, there's 3 threads on 1st page that are Metallica...the 1st 3 that I checked out, too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Haterssuck!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm very glad I missed the tour w/ acoustic self-induldging Kill 'Em All. It was bad enough when (black LP. tour) they teased us with Fight Fire. and stopped saying 'You like that shit, huh?' I was like uhhh-yeah, and I'll take a double order of No Remorse w/ a side of Ride the Lightning, too!

Metallica is a very good band. They've written some very interesting songs over the years. Very tuneful and appealing to the ears. The sounds are powerful and the imagery is very chilling and it makes you want to crash cars into walls (except "Mama Said" which makes you want to sob or sleep). I have several of their CD's. One of them is entitled "Ride The Lightning". There is a chair on the front cover. When I play the LP version it spins around and plays music via a "needle" (a stylus, not like the kind I use for crocheting or sewing). Metallica used to have a bass player named Jason Newsted (best known for playing bass - not drums - in the band Flotsam and Jetsam). I have many anecdotes about this band and I will share them all with you one day when the time is right.

I gotta admit, I kinda liked the Kill Em All songs acoustically on the Reload tour (of course I would have preferred them with distortion, etc., but it still worked). I was just stoked at the time they weren't playing anymore medleys and got to here full versions of The Thing That Should Not Be, Master Of Puppets, and Fight Fire With Fire. On a side note, its cool they switched out eight songs on the second date of the Quebec shows. Most bands wouldn't have done that.

Cheers I thought you were saying you digged the acoustic set and Reload was best tour you saw. Think we're on the same page. We actually left early on the first Black tour. Went to see the next show because Suicidal and Danzig were opening but left during Metallica after they did a medley of the great old material and said something like "had to get that old shit out of the way, it's time for the NEW shit!"

I was looking forward to seeing them on this tour because of the return of the older songs on set list. Had a floor seat for Toronto and had to sell the ticket off because of flu beat down.
