Is AEROSMITH Headed For A Permanent Vacation?
- Nov. 4, 2009
|
|
AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler has confirmed to U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine that he will pursue solo projects during the coming months. "Once the band hit the final note and I walk off stage — then I'll tell you the whole story," an exuberant Tyler announced to Classic Rock minutes before AEROSMITH played a triumphant set to a crowd of over 50,000 adrenalized punters at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 1. "I don't know what I'm doing yet, but it's definitely going to be something Steven Tyler: working on the brand of myself — brand Tyler," he added. According to Classic Rock, on stage there was no sign of any acrimony — just the smiles, banter and the general bonhomie that is associated with Boston's premier good-time band. But off stage the story was much different. As with the last three shows, none of the band saw Tyler until the opening number and his dressing room was located quite a distance from the rest of the group. Read more from Classic Rock.

They haven't released a decent record in decades it seems. They haven't had it in themselves to write their own music in who knows how long. Their time has come and gone.

This is sad news. Tickets There was ever so slightly devastated when we read this earlier. I know they've had major problems and the albums haven't been good for...well, a long time. But it;s Aerosmith!!
Imagine, a world where Steven Tyler is solo. What next, will the Stones retire?

The time has come and gone for some of these bands. Just tour behind your "hits" and don't bother with the shitty new irrelevant music.

Honkin On Bobo (2004) was a fine album because Jack Douglas got them back to their 70's rock roots. As he did for them back in the 70's, hmm! So unless they can get back to the hard rock blues sound I personally couldn't care less if they continue because that late 80's and 90's stuff was so disgustingly bad. Selling out for loot for fear of growing old without enough security. Not an approiate way to create great music.

CRYIN!!! CRAZY!!!! AMAZING!!!!
Seriously, maybe Steven should just hook up w/ some other dudes and just bang out some good old sleazy hard rock in small clubs- forget about moving albums to bored, fat suburban housewives who love lame ballads. He can afford to.
When in doubt, go back and examine your early success. Steven, that means you gotta go listen to the first 5 Aerosmith records and recreate the vibe.

that has seen better days. Love Aerosmith and saw them four times in concert...Unfortunately, they were blown off the stage all four times by the opening acts: Dokken, Black Crowes, Collective Soul and Motley Crue.

I thought that was what he was into with those poser ballads from the bands he liked, like some of the tunes on Chi-Dem. I guess I was wrong
But yeah, he's right. Those late CD ballads were awful and they are not that great live or were not the two times I saw them. One time they did a painful 5-10 minute piano introduction to Angel. It was terrible

it's one thing for perry toss out solo stuff because for the most part it does not sound like aerosmith and he is not trying to be something he is not. but they will get back together once tyler puts out a cd of dance hip hop or whatever shit he decides to do.he will find that no matter how revalant he tries to be his old fans like me will have nothing to do with a project that includes any of that type of music and fans of that crap will only think of him as some old guy thier parents like trying to sound hip. maybe I am wrong and he will surprise me and put a kick ass hard rock cd but I just don't see that happening. anyway after said failure the band will get together and put out a farewell record and tour where they can charge a arm and a leg and retire for good

Tyler's autobiography has been pushed back to mid-2010 and his solo album was announced back in July. At the moment the band is completing contractual obligations, nothing more. Come back in a year to see if this is anything more than talk.

the Stones Bigger Bang was a pretty good album, so was VooDoo Lounge, Bridges To Babylon was weak.
In no way were BB & VDL as good as "classic" Stones ( 1968 - 75 ), but they are very good albums.

I have seen Aerosmith 12 times and have never seen anyone blow them off any stage. Their 80's and 90's stuff was blues based you dumb asses. What do you thing hangman jury was or don't get mad? Can't you hear the r & b that premeates premanent vacation. As far as Tyler quitting? I am one of his biggest fans and he is losing it. He is hanging out with Mark hudson who you can balme for the turn in the Aero musical direction. Tyler thinks he is friggin lennon. Steven aint interested in rockin, he's an artist and wants to be rcognized as such. I won't be buyin what your sellin in protest steven. Write some ass kickers and then we'll talk.

In four short years, Steven's first Social Security check will come rollin' in. I hope he makes his solo effort worth listening to. I'd hate like Hell to watch such a dynamic talent fizzle out like a wet sparkler. He needs to see what Jimmy Page is up to.

has been talking about doing a solo album since 1996, when he was unhappy with the way the guys were taking "Nine Lives". This dude is 61 years old, and lucky to be alive after years of death defying drug abuse. PLus, keep in mind that he had kids who did not even know that he was their Dad for years and years - - a douche move if I ever saw one. The Mom did that to protect them from Steven's horrible drug addiction. With all of that said, Aerosmith's music from 1973-1977 and a couple of tunes off of "Pump" (1989) are forever going to be classics. In that last couple of years, he has been rumored to be off the wagon, hired seperate management from Aerosmith and treated the guys in teh band like servants - not partners with which he has been in a band with for almost 40 years. I can't imagine that Aerosmith had much more life in them anyway. They haven't written a song without the help of outside writers since 1979, and their concerts for at least the last 10 years have a LOT of piped in "live" additions. Oh - and check out how much the poor keyboard player has to handle without ever getting credit. Steven Tyler is a selfish dick who should learn to appreciate what he has before he loses it. Solution: Let Steven piss off and hire that great kid singing in Joe Perry's band to sing instead, but called the band "Gunsmith" or "Aerolift" or something. Steven has a LOT to answer to when he meets St. Peter, that's for sure.

That is the guy in the video with him. He used to be BFF with Ringo Starr until he pissed off Ringo. He used to produce Hanson, and played in a band in the 70's. A few years ago, he was accused of sexual harrassement at his record company, and the girl was paid off to stay quiet. Now, it looks like he is playing Wormtongue to Tyler's Théoden (nerdy Lord of the Rings reference....sorry)

but this band should just bow out while they still have a shred of dignity left and chalk it up to a good run, rejoice in the fact that most bands don't even last half as long as these guys have. It's simply time to put the scarf-adorned microphone stand in the closet and close the door.
Permanently.
