AVENGED SEVENFOLD Working On Its 'Most Personal And Epic' Album - Nov. 6, 2009
Guitarist Zacky Vengeance of AVENGED SEVENFOLD has issued the following update:

"It has been awhile since we have shed light on our current doings. Well, here is a long-awaited update into the world of A7X.

"We came off of the road amidst one of the most turbulent times in history. Everything going on around us was overwhelming, frightening, frustrating and confusing. I must confess that it was also very exciting to me. I'm sure you can share my sentiment.

"We have been focused on only one thing: writing and preparing to record what to me is our most personal and epic AVENGED SEVENFOLD album. The reason is the fact that everything happening around us in the entire world might be a once-in-a-lifetime source of inspiration and direction. We have been harnessing every aspect of what makes A7X truly unrelenting and building off of that. I don't think we sleep too much anymore because of the excitement we feel while writing this album. Only a world spinning out of control could inspire the music and vision we have now. Once again, it is fucking exciting.

"We will continue finalizing our songs until we feel every note does both you [the fans] as well as us justice. We are also in the final stages of solidifying our production team, studios and engineers so that the second the axe falls and the album is written we will spend day and night in the studio until it is complete. This album will definitely take you on a very dark journey..."

AVENGED SEVENFOLD's DVD/CD package, "Live in the LBC & Diamonds in the Rough", was released in September 2008. The live DVD features the band's April 2008 hometown show at the Long Beach Arena headlining the Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour, while the CD contains previously unreleased b-sides that were recorded during the making of "Avenged Sevenfold", plus various covers, and other never-before-heard material. The DVD was directed by Core Entertainment's Rafa Alcantara, who also worked on the band's critically acclaimed 2007 road documentary "All Excess".

If by 'personal' they mean emo, and if by 'epic' they mean shit, then this story may have some relevance.

Hope this helps

A7X aren't emo dude. They aren't metal either. What they are is a a real good rock band with two excellent guitarists. The last record had a couple of real badass songs that I still listen to a lot. Gunslinger is one of those tracks that if you really listen to closely, you can't help but realize that these guys know what the fuck they are doing. Besides, if you look at current bands making heavy rock today, they all sound like Godsmack, Nickelback or Hinder. Right now you have A7X, Shinedown and hopefully Alter Bridge as the ones to carry the torch for hard rock. AIC put out a phenomenal album, but they are closer to the end than the beginning.

One more thing. It's refreshing to hear a band talk about these times in a tone of voice other than whining. They aren't crying about the economy, record companies, the war, or money. You hear nothing but excitement about a new record that at this point in their careers should be pretty badass.

Everything going on around us was overwhelming (SHITTY TICKET SALES), frightening (NOBODY BOUGHT OUR LAST RECORD), frustrating (WE ONLY TOURED FOR THREE WEEKS IN NEBRASKA) and confusing (WE TOOK SHOWERS TOGETHER). I must confess that it was also very exciting to me. I'm sure you can share my sentiment.

This band used to be really good and innovative back in the day, before all the hype around them... Waken the Fallen is a very, very good work. Then it went downhill, I guess it happens with a lot of promising bands :/

One of the most talented bands around. They write interesting music and I look forward to the new stuff. The band toured for two years on their last record, not many bands can do that. Especially when they started off the tour in medium sized venues and ended their tour in arenas. There is a glut of stale music out there right now and lord knows we need something new.

Every note to do the fans and yourselves justice? Then get a singer who isn't flat. I'm sorry, but the BAND here IS full of talented musicians. However, M. Shadows is just not a good singer. At least not for this type of music. And I think it detracts from the overall sound. The band's credibility was hurt by being a Hot Topic darling, but it soon became undeniable that these boys can definitely play. But the vocals never improved. Just an opinion.

I like them really, the songs have great hooks, riffage and lyrics.
Everybody screams about having more neo-classical guitar players, and that's definately there with Zack and Gates.

avenged sevenfold sucks. hard. and wheter they themselves are emo or not every little teen emo kid in the world wants to have their babies. they put so much avenged sevenfold crap all over themselves (shirts, belt buckles, jackets, patches, even fucking jewlelry) its ridiculous. and whatever talent this band has is buried under their absolutely retarded look and attitude. they dress so fucking gay and naming all their members "gates" and "shadows" just takes away any and all credibility they have.

This comes from a trend setter who would put "ozzy for Prez" as his/hers blabbername. Are you dense enough to think that Ozzy hasn't put his name on anything, let alone worn it or marketed himself? He even had a freaking tv show, bro. In case you thought Ozzy was his real name, he uses a stage name no different than gates, shadows, or The Rev does.

Can we have some remedial training for those who decide to post a comment here? I respect most of the opinions on here even though they may differ from mine but some people are just writing illogical nonsense.

Half of the people who are hating on A7X have actually llistened to more than 4 of their songs? Look, I'm 38 years old. I have no idea what Hot Topic even is. I don't listen to a t-shirt or a haircut. Besides, for any metal fan to make fun of of the way a band dresses? Do you realize the origins of the metal look? Do you realize that it comes 100% from 70's SOHO gay S&M clubs? Do you realize that the NY Dolls and Twisted Sister tried to look like drag queens ON PURPOSE?

A7X don't sound like ANY of the corporate rock or emo trash out there. They are the polar opposite of Korn, Disturbed and Linkin Park. And they ditched the whole Slipknot, Shadows Fall, Trivum shit years ago. Personally, as someone who has listened to hard rock and metal for over a quarter of a century, I can totally appreciate them.

Their first 2 records = Boring, unoriginal Metalcore

City of Evil = Fucking awesome when it first came out...it's been played to death though. Still pretty good, but havent listened to it in forever.

Self-Titled = Some good, some not-so-good. Overall pretty decent. Still better than Waking the Fallen and their first album w/ the name that i cant remember.

Personally, I can't wait for this new album!! I appreciate that with every album they break away from what they did the album before and test themselves as artists and musicians to do something different. They are not like so many other bands who have made the SAME ALBUMS AND SONGS over, and over again for the past how ever many years. And if you have ever been to an A7X show, its not just a bunch of Hot Topic teeny-boppers...its people of all ages and walks of life. I appreciate the determination and courage it takes to push yourself to take risks and do something that makes you feel good about what you do, instead of just doing what the masses want you to and regardless of what the critics and haters have to say about it. I look forward to this album, and a new tour. I won the A7X Vegas fly away contest this year and got to see them in their element in Sin City and had the chance to party with them after the show....it was the greatest night of my life. They aren't pretentious, they aren't arrogant, they are just down to earth great guys who truely appreciate every blessing that life has given them and are so thankful for each and every one of their fans. So to all the people that bash them...I hope you save some irrelevant comments for later on down the road, because Avenged Sevenfold isn't going anywhere. So you can hate it or love it, but in the end they'll still be here....and so will all of us who support them.

I've recently been getting more and more interested with this band, granted that Waking The Fallen is an awesome album, I also enjoyed their self titled. I dont see them as a metal band, more of a hard rock band.

awsome band, but last album was weak. hope for another city of evil. like the heavy metal\modern mixture. I love glam metal, so I dont care for their looks at all. more of a glam album would be great though.
