AMORPHIS Keyboardist Interviewed In Athens - Nov. 6, 2009
Metalzone.gr conducted an interview with Santeri Kallio of Finnish metallers AMORPHIS on November 1, 2009 when the band played Athens, Greece. Santeri talks about how it feels being in a band that's been around for almost 20 years, gives advice to new groups coming into the metal scene and also offers as a sneak preview of AMORPHIS' forthcoming DVD which will be out released in 2010. Watch the chat below.

"Skyforger", the new album from AMORPHIS, sold around 1,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD landed at position No. 33 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Skyforger" entered the official chart in the band's home country at position No. 1. Released on May 29 via Nuclear Blast Records (May 27 in Finland), the follow-up to the "Eclipse" and "Silent Waters" LPs, both of which were certified gold in the band's native Finland, was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki.

are some of the most passionate and loyal out there. ELLADA!!!

The new Amorphis was surprisingly decent too. Nothing is going to beat 'Tales....' and 'Elegy', but it was listenable enough.

COMMENT | I'm still shocked only a few people on here support this band...

Amorphis is really an amazing band who are lost to most people in a scene filled with bands who will never stand the test of time, & that is a shame!

Not every song they have is amazing. But they have so many strong ones you cannot deny them.

Forget any haters, I'm talking on that Tuonela album too.

Amazing band. On the same level as Dark Tranquillity, in my opinion, in terms of being able progress and improve with every album. I like everything they've ever done, but their latest three albums are the ones I enjoy the most.
