FEAR FACTORY Singer's Wife Captures Beauty Of Central Pennsylvania Through Her Paintings - Nov. 7, 2009
Wayne Laepple of The York Daily Record reports that central Pennsylvania-based artist Amy Abattoir — who is married to FEAR FACTORY singer Burton C. Bell — has been working on a series of paintings she calls "Driving in the Pennsylvania Dusk." A six-painting preview of the series is on display at Cherry Alley Cafe in Lewisburg.

Abattoir and Bell and their three children (Violet Morning Bell, Atticus Wolf Bell, and Vivian Honoree Bell) moved to Milton a few years ago.

"Your mind can relax and expand out here," she explained. "It's really an affordable high-class area for artists."

Abattoir's studio occupies the third floor of their large home in Milton. It's flooded with light from windows on all four sides.

"This is bigger than some entire apartments I've lived in," she laughed.

"I can work on a painting while the kids are napping," she continued. "I can carve out a few hours every day."

Her husband is often away on tour for weeks at a time, but he also has significant down time when he's home.

"When he's home, he's really home," she said. "We sort of trade time. He works at night, and I work in the afternoon."

Ahhhh, York isn't Central Pennsylvania at all. It's eastern PA. I guess it's too hard to actually look at a map once in awhile.

c'mon Blabbermouth, you gotta draw the line somewhere (between what can be considered metal news and what--like this--is completely irrelevant.)

Burt doesn't live too far from me. Gotta agree with above posts. Central PA, well, to me all of PA totally sucks ass, or perhaps just the people. From the mandatory annual auto inspections, all the fuckin "good ol boy redneck shit kickers and to the hidy-tidy (sp) rich fucksticks who think they can go any speed they want and not use their turn indicators when they make their last minute turn. The landscape is indeed an artists haven, but the people for the most part suck ass. It's amazing how some even function in society as they've got their own language. For example, I'm out for dinner and I'm asked/told " I'll bring your drinks a while" Now what the fuck does that mean. You'll bring me my drink and then take it away? Or one would typically say I am going to leave the door open... insteady they say "let" the door open. Or when a business is closed for the day, it's not closed, it's shut... WTF??? Where did this style of redneckspeak come from? Larry the Cable Guy? Foxworthy? I can not wait to get the hell out of here, unfortunately it won't be soon enough.

Well Milton is ok, but if you want to really relax after a tour, move to the Poconos, when I get home from a tour, it's great, I can go fishing or take the kids snow boarding or even go to the new Indoor water park at big boulder, lake harmoy, it's 10 min
down the road from my house.
Now this is a place to live and relax all in one spot.
Pocono Lake, PA. Rocks like no other.
