SLAYER's New Album Cracks Australian Top 10 - Nov. 8, 2009
SLAYER's new album, "World Painted Blood", has entered the official Australian chart at position No. 9.

According to Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS, "World Painted Blood" is on track to sell between 35,000 and 40,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release.

SLAYER's last CD, "Christ Illusion", opened with more than 62,000 units to debut at position No. 5 on The Billboard 200 chart. This was the highest position ever on the chart for SLAYER, who previously reached No. 8 with their 1994 release "Divine Intervention" after moving 93,000 copies of that album in its first week.

SLAYER's 2001 album, "God Hates Us All", registered a first-week tally of 51,000 to land at No. 28, while 1998's "Diabolus In Musica" opened with 46,000 units, debuting at No. 31.

"God Hates Us All" and its predecessor, "Diabolus In Musica", have each sold more than 300,000 copies so far. Several of the earlier SLAYER albums have been certified gold for sales in excess of 500,000 copies in the United States, including "Divine Intervention".

...if any of the Blabbermouthers will bitch about those first week sales numbers? They seem just fine to me, but usually anytime the first week sales of any band other than Metallica or AC/DC are posted here, someone mentions how that particular band should have sold more copies than that. They will also usually say that it is a good indication of how that particular band is now washed up. Is anyone gonna say that about the mighty Slayer? I think not. By the way, 'World Painted Blood' is a pretty badass disc. If you liked the last two, you will really like this one. Keep thrashin' folks!!!

Great to see the Aussie metal fans buying Cd's still and pushing these metal kings into the top of our charts, we need more metal to dominate our top 10's and maybe the mainstream press will finally fuckin stand up, listen and start promoting METAL is australia even more!

I respect your opinion, but I bet you´re going a bit too far with that statement, that album might be the best since SITA but it cannot top ANY of the ones from and behind SITA.

Yeah we do, in Australia we only buy albums with poor production, it's a custom of ours.

We also have sissy usernames like 'Laz' instead of the almighty/scary/horrifying "Mystic Pain 666"

The RIAA and units and calculating the # of albums sold are the reason why music is in the shitter. Judging albums based on records sold rather than the music itself.

If anything, I was disappointed more in the new Wolfmother disc than I was with "World Painted Blood". Slayer at least kept their momentum up after the second album.

It's not Australia's fault if Slayer wants to string their guitars with rubber bands.
