KISS: Video Interview Posted Online
- Nov. 9, 2009
The members of KISS were interviewed by Altitude and Sprint TV prior to their October 31, 2009 performance at the 11th annual Voodoo Experience music festival in New Orleans. Watch the chat below.
More than 150 acts played on eight stages in three separate areas — named Le Ritual, Le Flambeau and Le Carnival — around the city.
Other major acts on the Voodoo Experience bill included JANE'S ADDICTION, WOLFMOTHER, EAGLES OF DEATH METAL, MEAT PUPPETS and DOWN.
Guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley says that he feels no shame in KISS being lumped in with other vintage, or classic rock acts — in fact, the band is thrilled with the fact that they're now spanning there different generations with their music and bombastic live shows.
Stanley, who's out on the road with KISS in support of their first album in a decade, called "Sonic Boom", told Metal Hammer magazine, "I'm proud to be in the category of classic rock bands — what's better than the word 'classic?' Are you kidding? If you want to call LED ZEPPELIN a classic rock band and then you want to call us a classic rock band, I'm not fighting. If I'm going to be lumped in with anybody, let me be lumped in with my heroes. That doesn't preclude you from being current. It means that you have a solid history and a foundation, which most bands will never achieve because they won't survive that long."

personally, i think the coolest thing ki$$ could do would be to not show up. i would totally respect them for that! the rrhof is a joke, and by participating in the induction, ki$$ are just making themselves to be hypocrits (once again) because they've spent the last ten years saying how bogus the rrhof is.
i totally agree with you - $immon$, $tanley, Criss and Frehley are the only members who should be inducted. give a nod of recognition to the other utility members who basically propped ki$$ up between reunions.

exactly, just don't show. It is a silly concept, a HOF for something that is subjective. Its all opinion. Its a fun to debate, a cool museum, but the when it comes down to who should really be in, it gets silly.
The original KiSS is the only KiSS that matters. Can you imagine if KiSS's first album was LIck it up, and their last, the last with Kulick, which ever that was(it was just one blur of horseshit poser, 2nd rate hairmetal to me), we are talking about one of the silliest bands in history. They might have maintained a recording contract because they did sell some candy ass albums, as did bands like trixter. They'd be remember in the same light as say, White Lion, just a rubbish band. Tears are fallin', Crazy Nights, heaven's on fire, just recycle bin rock.

How can you look at this band of idiots and not laugh your ass off? Look at Chaim Witz, looking like some fat, bloated idiot and trying to act like KI$$ is still cool. And then you've got Stanley Eisen, the make-up barely hiding his wrinkled old face, showing off his lypo-tummy! And Thayer and Singer, the trained monkeys, doing exactly what they are told to say and do. What a joke!!
And where's Sonic BOO(m) this week? Bottom of the charts, I bet! Wow, what a trail-blazing piece of work that was! KISS-dorks take note - KISS is over. So long. Buh-bye.

Let's face it there's no better bands out there. How about The Scorpions, they should be in for sure if they're not. I mean they're practically ambassadors for Europe (east and west).
And the new KISS LP. Is it standing the test of time (even short time)? It's been a month. We'll see.

top 40 singles is not the criteria I'm looking for in a hard rock band. I'm sure Led Zep had none. (?). who cares? I think top 40 singles might be a strike against a band

Oh, I see, boogerboy. In order for an artist to have credibility, they need to sell, sell, sell lots of records, right?!? So then by your reasoning, Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block are rock and roll gods, right? Record sales do not give an artist credibility. If they did, then Pat Boone would be considered a pioneer of rock and roll music. Give your head a shake!
The only people who take anything that Stanley Eisen and Chaim Witz do seriously are you KISS-dorks - the ones who think every word out of their pie-holes is a golden nugget from the gods. The rest of the rock and roll world (the intelligent folks) know that KI$$ is full of shit, their music sucks and their followers are a bunch of sheep.

"Bognerboy", I get your point about KISS having charted some albums and singles. But do you really think that gives them credibility? The point is well made - if charting singles and/or albums defined great rock and roll bands, then we SHOULD be inducting bands like New Kids on the Block, Tiffany, Milli Vanilli, Hanson, Backstreet Boys and Nsync into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But album and single sales, especially in the USA, don't give a rock band credibility.
I think you comparing a band like the Ramones to KISS is like trying to compare apples to oranges. But you must see that they had similarities too! Both started in the 70's in New York. Both were panned by the critics for most of their careers but survived due to a strong fan base. Both had changes in members. And both made a major impact on the rock and roll scene (KISS with hard rock/metal, Ramones with punk).
I see that you're tring to "one-up" YerMamaSux, but don't get so caught up trying to be right that you miss a really good point!

I would hope you wouldn't "dislike" anyone on BM just because they don't have the same opinion as you! And I don't think you should assume that people "bash" for no reason. Everyone has their own opinion about bands, that's what makes music interesting. I'm just as interested in why characters like YerMamaSux has to say as I am with anyone! What I think needs to stop is the needling and instigating that some do. That's just immature.
Hopefully, you see that KISS and the Ramones both had their place in their respective genres. And neither one is any more important than the other. I'm not a huge Ramones fan, but as a musicologist, I appreciate what they contributed to their scene.

the only immature people in here are people like yermammsux, and the randoms that have nothing else to say but kiss sucks or whatever... and as for the ramones debate, well a band wich has 1 gold vs a band with 40 gold, i suppose it would we a waste of time to compare the 2
your right..everyone has there own opnion as long as there is good reason to back up that opinion, you dislike things and give ur reason, as do others...but there is no place for immature bashing, and they are the people i mostly reply to

It's all me - I'm the only poster bashing your precious KI$$. Take a look at this tread, numbnuts - fifty posts and almost ALL OF THEM criticizing KI$$. There are more KI$$ bashers than there are KI$$ dorks now!
And so what if I do bash them? If you don't like it, I don't really give a shit. It doesn't bother me that you bash the Ramones, either. Just makes you look ignorant to all the other posters. Even intelligent posters like briance and heymaker see that.
How does saying record sales don't mean anything and noting Sonic Shit's dismal sales figures "dig me a hole"? Record sales mean nothing, but I pointed that out because all of you KI$$ dorks went on and on for months about how Sonic Boo(m) was going to rule the world, be the best KI$$ album ever, seller five million copies in the first week, blah, blah, blah. And you were wrong - Sonic Boo(ger) sucks, it's sales figures are a joke and all you KI$$ dorks are now making excuses as usual. I said it before, I'll say it again - KI$$ is over! All they have left is their stupid M&M's and Potatoe Head dolls.

"YerMamaSux" is actually correct when he says you are making yourself look foolish slagging the Ramones.
First of all, the Ramones stopped touring in 1996, so they aren't playing in any "stingu night club", whatever that is. But their last tour in 1996 saw them playing to sold out arenas and stadiums worldwide, including headlining the massively successful Lalapalooza Tour.Besides that, three of the members of the Ramones are dead: Joey (died in 2001), Dee Dee (died in 2002) and Johnny (died in 2004).
Saying the Ramones had "less than 20 million" in album sales is just foolish. I couldn't find an actually number, but the band released around fourteen studion albums plus some live compilations, and all sold well over a million in the USA alone!
The Ramones, unlike KISS, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
You call posters like "YerMamaSux" immature, but your remarks like "my band shits all over your band" and the smiley faces are totally immature!

u call urself a musicologist hahahaha the ramones never had million selling albums in america they had one album just scrap over 500k to be certified gold in 35 years 1 ALBUM mabye if there sales of all albums combined they may have sold a mill or 2, but nothing to write home about...bands like ramones and rush and stooges get talked about alot in usa, but on a world scale those bands are simply club acts...the good thing about living in australia is we have a birds eye view of the world when it comes to music, where other countrys tend to stick to there own thing.....im not here to make friends, to to give people cyber high fives
" you couldnt find any numbers on ramones sales " what sort of musicologist are you ??? i treat people the way i get treated...people bash, i bash back...people make a decent comment, i will reply with a decent comment...thats how the world works..
