METALLICA Land Gold Album In Spain

METALLICA were presented with a Gold Album award in Spain for sales in excess of 50,000 copies of their new album, "St. Anger", during its first two weeks of release. The award ceremony took place on Saturday, June 21 in the press room of Estadio Olimpico de Montjuic in Barcelona, Spain, two hours before METALLICA's appearance at this year's Doctor Music Day festival. Lars = Looks Like Fred Durst.
Kirk = Wears a Wig & a hippie shirt.
James = Looks like he should be playing in Corrosion Of Conformity, which isn't bad as COC rule. Looks like he's growing his hair out too.
Trujillo = Nobody can disrespect this guy, as he's a monster on Bass.
So half of the band are cool, the other half = who cares? Kirk wasn't even plugged in on St. Anger.

and as 4 st. anger...what a pathtic pice of shit of an album. and all the guys that have been saying how great this album is are hardcore mettalica fans who are in complete and utter denial..and can not accept the fact that there favortie band made the worst album of there careers....they just need to accept the fact that metallica is not the band they used to be and move on..

In the third pic, Robert has a plaque with his name on it for the St. Anger album. I don't own the album, but didn't Bob Rock play the bass on the album? Shouldn't the plaque say BOB Rock on it instead. I understand that Rob is a "full-time member", but he shouldn't get any plaques for Master of Puppets....
Seems kinda strange...

They've moved over 800,000 copies since it came out. About 795,000 of them are in used cd shops now for $5 or less. What a worthless piece of crap.

as far as i know they had said due lack of sales lars was blaming the downloading sites for it(just this does sound like somthing lars that eminem wannabe would say i wish i could remember the 2 guys names from the talkshow are but i do know this show is broadcasted from out of los angeles....if anybody has heard of this story please back me up ....i dont wanna start no bad press i just wanna make sure im getting the story correct.....like i said if im wrong i do appologise for it ....thanks

A gold album in Spain. You know, once you've hit that pinnacle, there's really not much else left in your career to do.
And I kinda like St. Anger - I'm not pissing myself over it or anything, but it's growing on me. It's definitely my least favorite Metallica album though, which is disappointing to me. However, if their next CD sounds like it (no riffs, solos, hooks, or production value), and it takes 6 years to release, I am going to be one pissed off Metallica lifer.

In Spain as well as a bunch of other small countries, Gold is 50k and platinum is 100k..it's all based on population, etc. Not bad for a non-english speaking country.
the 50k/100k standards are the reason who Shakira was umpteen platinum in all thoose tiny latin countries and why nobody had heard of her in the USA untill recently.

ya know, it's funny, anyone who has ever posted something negative about metallica on here has probably liked them at some point or another, i think Lars said it best when he said "With each album, we lose fans who can't deal with growth." AC/DC rocks and will probably always will because they put out the same album everytime, you listen to Back in Black and Stiff Upper Lip and you can't tell the difference about when they were released. Metallica is an ever-growing band and you think they give a fuck about ur pety comments? Fuck no. You listen to all their albums in order, you'll be able to tell the difference between every album. It seems that a lot of you are not very open minded. "Oh look, they've gone platnuim again FUCK THEM THEY FUCKING SUCK!" That really says a lot lemme tell you. Metallica has always stood for one thing, their don't give a fuck attitude. It's a shame that there's too many iggnorant people out there who can't deal that a band puts out a different album everytime. Fuck the bands who don't grow with albums, fuck them who can't come up with something better than their last album AND FUCK ALL THE HATERS WHO HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO WITH THEIR MISERABLE LIVES THEN BASH METALLICA. IF IT WASN'T FOR THEM, THERE WOULD BE NO SLIPKNOT, IN FLAMES, COC, MONSTER MAGNET, ...should i go on? So here's a big FUCK YOU to all you bashers who can't deal that Metallica is and always will be the front runners in anything Metal. (By the way, i love it how people come up with new names for metallica, that shows a lot of creativity dumb shits.)

I am not going to bash you but you are off base IMO. Indeed, many people bashing Metallica were and are still Metallica fans. But after releasing something so stupifying as the material(?) known as St. Anger who in their right mind want to hear any bands inspired by something like that? I was inspired by Metallica at one time due to the incredible riffs, great dynamics and hooks, and incredible time changes. None of these traits are present on this CD. I am a loyal fan of what Metallica were...but there is no one with half-ass hearing that could boast at how incredible this crap is. It would be a flat-out pure, uncut fucking lie to do so. This was put out for the SOLE purpose of dollars and nothing else.

listin to the album. its horrible. lars druming is the worse i have ever heard. kirk is way off key and those back up vocals he lands on the st. anger single are god afull, sounds like asshole durst..waht the hell happend to the guy i ididlized as a kid....guy needs to ask joe satrinai for guitar lessons again......plus they dont give a flying fuck about u n the rest of there fans. all they care about is being famous and staying in the mainstream and having all of those trendy nu-metal, nu-punk, and pop rock bands kiss there ass. this band is a is a prime example of waht happens when a band sells 5 to 10 million records, and starts to get majior airplay ..they start to care about being famous and staying in the mainstream more than they care about makeing good music.......
in all st. anger is the nail in the coffin 4 metallica. there carrers are over. and all of u mettalica hardcores need to accept this fact.

I'd like people to share my opinion on how this album is good and is a step in the right direction but I don't see that happening anytime soon because the majority of the people on this board are guys living in the 80's who can't deal with change. I have nothing wrong with change, I just have higher expctatons for the bands I am really into. "St. Anger" just really sounds like they didn't bother to finish the songs, Lars sounds terribile, etc. I'm not gonna go into all of what I think is wrong with the album. Hopefully, the album will get better as I listen to it more, but I'm not holding my breath. For me, and I can only speak for me, the album dosen't live up to the standards they set with their other albums. Like I said, I understand wanting to change and try something new, but I think they really dropped the ball.
Hopefully, Rob will bring some good ideas and riffs to the table, and they will work with another producer.
The last word from me on this album: It's a positive thing that Metallica remembered how to play fast and sound 'heavy,' hopefully now they can start writing good songs again, and maybe do some more of what a reviewer said in one of the reviews: edit the length of some songs, they are getting long in the tooth at times...
