THROWDOWN Recording PANTERA Cover For DIMEBAG Tribute Album - Nov. 9, 2009
Orange County, California's hardcore/metal act THROWDOWN entered the studio last night (Sunday, November 8) to record a cover version of an as-yet-undisclosed PANTERA song for a forthcoming "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott tribute album. The collection, which is being put together by a U.K.-based metal magazine to coincide with the five-year anniversary of Dimebag's passing, is expected to include the following cuts, among others:

* MACHINE HEAD - "Fucking Hostile"
* CHIMAIRA - "Slaughtered"
* EVILE - "Cemetery Gates"
* THROWDOWN - [to be announced]

"Deathless", the new album from THROWDOWN, will be released in the U.S. on November 10 through E1 Music (formerly KOCH Records). The CD, which will be made available in Europe on January 22, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records, was produced by Mudrock (AVENGED SEVENFOLD, GODSMACK, POWERMAN 5000) and was mixed by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, who has previously worked with HATEBREED, THE RED CHORD and SHADOWS FALL, among others. The artwork was created by Ryan Clark of Invisible Creature and DEMON HUNTER and can be viewed below.

THROWDOWN will embark on "The Deathless Tour I" in November/December. Support on the trek will come from BURY YOUR DEAD, FOR TODAY, ABACABB and THE WORLD WE KNEW.

"Deathless" is the band's fourth album with Dave Peters as frontman and primary songwriter, its second with guitarist Mark Choiniere (who joined the band in 2005) and first with bassist Mark Mitchell. Drummer Jarrod Alexander (ex-DEATH BY STEREO), who performed on the band's breakthrough "Haymaker" album in 2003, returned to work on "Deathless".

THROWDOWN last year completed touring behind the band's last album, "Venom & Tears", which was produced by the group with Mudrock. The past two years saw them on the road with KORN (Australia), KILLSWITCH ENGAGE (Canada), CAVALERA CONSPIRACY (U.S.), MACHINE HEAD / ARCH ENEMY (U.S.), headlining the Ernie Ball stage on the Vans Warped Tour, hitting major European festivals like Download, and headlining a U.S. tour of their own.

All Throwdown music sounds the same, what a tragedy, letting them cover a Pantera song. When I saw them with In Flames, Nevermore and Evergrey, they covered Walk, or A New Level....it sounded horrible and they stopped before they got to the solo. I hate hard core bands, but this is just an embarassment.

FLOODS, 13 STEPS TO NOWHERE, HOLLOW, THE ART OF SHREDDING, BECOMING, I'LL CAST A SHADOW, USE MY THIRD ARM, WAR NERVE, THE SLEEP, THIS LOVE, WOULD ALL MAKE GREAT COVERS. I HAVE BEEN A PANTERA FAN SINCE 1991, AND I WOULD GET THIS CD WHEN IT IS RELEASED? GET'CHA PULL!

PISS....'EVILE' IS A PLEASENT SURPRISE.

Whats the fucking point in Throwdown recording and covering a Pantera song, save time and money and just take any song from Venom & Tears album.

Can't wait to hear the slaughtered cover. That's my favorite song on Far Beyond Driven. Heavy as hell! The Cemetery Gates cover should be good too! At least Evile is technically proficient to even attempt such a song. Throwdown would butcher that song. They better stick to an easy song.

You could just put any song from Far Beyond Driven on this album, call it a Throwdown cover and I wouldn't know the difference.

These guys are okay but they sound TOO MUCH like Pantera.

Wow, "welcome to the real world"...get serious, or at least say something that has to do with "straight edgers" being phony as phukk, because that's the point being made here.

A bunch of over-compensating tryhard bully victim tough guys are paying tribute to the original band that made being an over-compensating tryhard bully victim tough guy popular. I bet they'll cut their mids and play slow and sloppy and say "motherfucker" a lot, oooh, how exciting.
