SLASH's Version Of 'Paradise City' Featuring CYPRESS HILL, FERGIE Available For Streaming - Nov. 10, 2009
VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash has just released a two-track CD single in Japan containing the song "Sahara" (featuring singer Koshi Inaba of the Japanese hard rock duo B'Z) and a version of the GN'R classic "Paradise City" (featuring CYPRESS HILL and Fergie [a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson] of the BLACK EYED PEAS).

Both tracks can now be streamed below.

Slash tapped ALTER BRIDGE's Myles Kennedy to sing on the final song of his upcoming self-titled solo album, due in Europe in early 2010 via Roadrunner Records. "This track is awesome, [and] it completes the record," Slash wrote on his Twitter page. "Myles did an amazing job and the song is fucking great."

Slash recently told MusicRadar.com that he got almost every special guest he wanted to appear on his upcoming solo album, except for one: WHITE STRIPES singer/guitarist and DEAD WEATHER drummer Jack White. Slash revealed, "I wanted to get Jack White to sing on something, but he didn't want to sing. He said I'll play drums, I'll play guitar, but I don't wanna sing. He was one guy that I wanted to work with. Pretty much everyone else that I went after I managed to get."

"Slash" will see Roadrunner Records enter into a unique and innovative association with a U.K. media partner — the special-interest media group Future. In a brand new concept in record distribution the standard album release will be preceded by a "fan pack," in which the Roadrunner Records album will be bundled together with a highly collectable special issue of Future Publishing's Classic Rock magazine dedicated to Slash's career. This will be the first format of the album available anywhere in the world.

Slash tracked most of the CD with former NINE INCH NAILS drummer Josh Freese and ex-JANE'S ADDICTION bassist Chris Chaney. Other confirmed guest singers so far include Ozzy Osbourne, AVENGED SEVENFOLD's M. Shadows and Chris Cornell (SOUNDGARDEN, AUDIOSLAVE). The CD was produced by Eric Valentine (GOOD CHARLOTTE, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE) and features additional appearances by ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea and former NIRVANA drummer and current FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl.

"Sahara" (featuring singer Koshi Inaba of the Japanese hard rock duo B'Z):

"Paradise City" (featuring CYPRESS HILL and Fergie [a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson] of the BLACK EYED PEAS):

It sucks fucking balls. What a horrible, shitty song to come out with. God Slash, the days of COMA are well dead and gone ain't they? Maybe yourself and Joe Perry need to kick back, enjoy your time and stop! You guys just can't write for shit anymore. Either retire or find your singers, your band and play some rock n roll!!

As for Paradise City, that's not bad. Maybe if you dropped Fergie and Cypress Hill, made it a little less hip-hop and a bit more rocky and got...oh I don't know, maybe Axl Rose from Guns N Roses to sing it, it could be a deadly wee number...:p sar-fucking-casm baby!!!

Terrible times twice = poor hopes for the record. Stop it now Slash, no 800 page list of guest musicians is going to stop this effort from being a catastrophe. Call AXL

Bet Chinese Democracy is looking pretty good right around now.

I can't even be bothered to click on the play button to see how Cypress Hill or Fergie were able to "improve" this tune. Holy shit I can't even believe how much those songs suck ass. I truly thought Slash was alot smarter than this. I am sure he figured putting some talentless rappers on some tracks would help the cd cross over and sell more copies, but I can't imagine anyone liking this even the slightest bit.

And RiotAct.... sigh. You are such a delusional moron that it is hard to fathom. You have proven over the last six years (yes SIX+ years of posting this same robotic fanboy bullshit) that you have ZERO credibility here or anywhere else. You are an absolute fucking idiot and it is hard to even believe the stupidity of almost everything you say. My guess is that you were abused and picked on by your peers all through school, and because of that you can't bring yourself to say anything negative about anyone or anything. Go back to your produce-boy job where you smell like piss and leave Blabbermouth to the people that can at least be semi-objective about things.

now have listened to Paradise City, if the original would have sounded like that I don't believe that I would give it another chance, but I think Slash is not paying homage to anything and wasn't trying to reach a metal audience by re-releasing this song, he just took it and made it his own, and do you really think that the guys cares if it sells or not, he's a multi gaggillionare I mean what would really be the point to make the song sound the same, the original can't be made any better so he was just trying something different, and for that....hats off, it takes alot of balls to record something so different, I mean he may alienate some fans but who cares. I won't buy the album cuz he hasn't done shit since he's left Guns, and the only way it's ever gonna get better if all those old memebers get together for a few drinks and say let's bring back Guns N Roses and then and only then will something great come out, but then again who knows....Axl's G'NR totally fucking sucks. and Velvet Relvolver who the fuck knows with them. Paradise City. It sounds better than any time they've done it live with Cypress Hill, Fergie's vocals are listenable and nice. Geez, it's another perspective on it - what would be the point of re-recording it with Axl? It only lacks the fast part and more of fast soling frenzy - Slash's fast endning solo is unbelievably awesome in the original track. But when you just stop repeating "GNR" in your limited brain, this track sound pretty nice and it's even less sugary than the original.

Sahara. It doesn't sound good for me. But then again how often does Asians singing music originating from other continents sound good for us? It sells there, it sounds too different and unnatural for us to like it. But I think Slash tries to introduce us to something unknown, and he owes those guys - Japan has always been a separate and a very important market and also a great fanbase for bands from other continets.

It's HIS solo album FFS. He does what he fucking wants, I respect this fact.

Sahara's boring.
Fergie actually is kinda ok and so possibly would have been pink or C. Anguilera. Fergs pulls an AXL quite convincingly. But she's a girl no wienie and an extra octave there, by default. Axl on record sounded A LOT MORE fierce.... The urban element that C.H are bringing into the mix doesn't work...

and man, why does s"p"lash have to revisit a GNR song.
Because 90 % of his solo and VR outings are totally uninteresting. that's why. None of the guys in the old Guns is larger than the sum of all of them guys put together.

That chemistry was gone substituted by some other chemistry...... well if AERO managed to clean up even for a while, and GNR are not that funked up nowdays .... hmmmmmm...

you killed Paradise city you bastard. to the guy that said a cover song should sound different but reconisable, you may go fuck yourself sir. only thing that shit storm had in common with the original was the lyrics. Thats it.

the other song wasn't too bad i kinda liked it.

Slash, For the love of GOD man please i and every fan of yours here beg of you bury the hatchet with Axl.

i'd only fondle my grandfathers balls for 2 things one is a koenigsegg CCXR (a very nice car(look it up)) and a GNRReunioneventually.

What do people mean "making it his own" in reference to this crap version of Paradise City?! It already was his own!! This is absolutely fuck awful!! And that tune with the Japanese fella, well that's not even worth commenting on!!
Christ on a bike!! Please don't let these two 'songs' be an indicator to what the record is gonna be like!!
Slash, if this is what it has come to, it might be time to hang up that Les Paul.
