JETBOY Issues Statement On Recent Musician Departures - Nov. 10, 2009
Veteran glam rockers JETBOY have released the following statement:

"It is with regret that JETBOY announces the departure of both Doug Hovan (percussion) and Michael Butler (bass) from the band's lineup.

"Following the completion of the band's most recent EP, 'Off Your Rocker', and its pending release, the band entered a phase of intense introspection regarding band members' roles, chemistry, and dedication to providing JETBOY fans with the most professional product possible. Through this process, original members Mickey Finn, Billy Rowe and Fernie Rod, in conjunction with management, made difficult decisions regarding JETBOY's direction and ability to perform at a consistently professional level. Difficult decisions were made that resulted in Doug Hovan's voluntary departure and Michael Butler's much-publicized on-air dismissal during the recent 'Good Clean Fun' podcast [hear audio below].

"JETBOY wishes to assure fans that while the podcast may have presented the split in a light that was less that friendly, the parties have since worked out their differences and the split was best for all involved. In addition, Billy Rowe will continue to perform with THE BUTLERS and Michael Butler, further displaying that the parties continue to have a positive working and personal relationship.

"JETBOY wishes nothing but the best and future success to both Doug and Michael, and want to assure fans that the core of JETBOY remains the same, and that the music that has been embraced by their fan base will not change.

"JETBOY is currently in the midst of negotiations for distribution of the new EP and will announce further details about the release as soon as they become available."

A rock documentary film on JETBOY is in the preliminary stages of being shot by Reality Check TV, which also produced the "mini-doc" included in JETBOY's last CD/DVD release, "The Glam Years", on Cleopatra/Deadline Records.

"The Glam Years" contained a DVD of a 1986 concert at Los Angeles' legendary Whisky a Go-Go (featuring a chock-full of extra interviews and photos) as well as a 21-track CD of the group's greatest hits.

Rocky Dennis from the movie Mask is available. You wouldn't even need to change the promo pic.

HAHAHAHA! Awesome. Butler *is* a Rocky Dennis look-alike!

That podcast was hilarious -- and I've never cared about Jetboy.

These kids are part of the history of Broadway- but the sale of their souls for rock and roll never closed escrow- Things started OK- got worse quick- and now it's a train wreck. Finn should not bad mouth the dead- and a little professional courtesy would have gone a long way- Now it's way too late...

Mike Butler was the shining light of the Jetboy show- His chops and stage presence carried the band- To hear Rodd dis him is sickening- Butler is better off without these cats. They never recovered from sacrificing original bassist Todd- and now slowly spiral downward- ... This highlights the dark side of losing--- Great interview !!

If your bass cuts out for more than 3 seconds, you're fucked!

They just need to pay my rent...

All sobriety has gotten these cats is unemployment and retail work..

They used the 20th anniversary of Todd's death as a marketing tool. The douchebags never even went to his funeral.

Hmm Wildhearts vs Jeritolboy? Now there's a tough decision.

Fernie's a tool. Billy's a coward. Micky is just complacent. Maybe he's just a realist.

Someone needs to inform "Zorro; The Gay Blade" that he's no Schenker, No Angus and definitely no Joe Perry.

They may not be drinking but hey apparently those strong hallucinagens are working well.

But there is nothing wrong with being sober at band practice and anyone who says different probably isn't in a band that's done anything!

His picture on the band's myspace (main page) shows him drinking. He can't even take a picture without a bottle in his mouth.

Michael is loud, cursing and childish. He's got to be more mature.

The one that acts like a tool in this long conversation is Butler. Always getting loud like a child, Fernie seems to be quiet and friendly. Butler is a wanna-be Rockstar who just blows this chance.

How many times does Butler have to state that he just wants to play rock n roll with his "friends"..
He's not the one with delusions of rockstardom....

Fernie quiet and friendly? You've obviously never met Fernando Rodriguez.

Alright, so it is 1988 and I have long hair, my biker jacket on, tight pants and am driving to the Stone to see Jetboy. Yeah, it was cool in 1988 but not so cool in 2009.

Jetboy, your pod cast of firing Michael is super retarded. Reality check...your like 50 years old in tight pants acting like it is the 80's and trying to be in a teen market. I am all for making things a business and trying new things but, come on dudes. It's Jetboy..Yeah that jackass band with a mohawk that sang feel the shake and was cool for like 5 minutes. You are like Hanson...not so cool after the 1st song. It is over, it will never happen for you, you can never make a real living on this band.

Michael, keep rocking. I know you all from past SF bands and Michael is right. Bands should be fun. Yes, Fernie is right about making a living but again...you are 50! No one really cares. We just look at your MySpace page to live in 1988 again but in reality no on really cares that you are putting out new music. Seriously...no one cares about you new music.

Fernie, it's over with any line-up, Bro. Sorry to be the one to tell you but no one really cares about jetboy.

Hope you new band is a better time Michael. Can I get an American Heartbreak reunion? I actually like that band.
