TONY IOMMI On BBC's 'Rock Show With Daniel P Carter'; Audio Available - Nov. 10, 2009
BLACK SABBATH/HEAVEN & HELL guitarist Tony Iommi was interviewed on last night's (Monday, November 9) edition of BBC Radio 1's "Rock Show With Daniel P Carter". The program is now available for streaming for seven days this location. (Note: The Iommi interview begins around the 44-minute mark.)

Iommi told Tim Masters of BBC News that he is making a good recovery after receiving stem-cell treatment on an injured hand.

"It's coming on alright actually," the acclaimed guitarist told the BBC at the Classic Rock Awards on November 2.

"I've already had the stem-cell treatment, so I've just got to wait now. It's been six weeks but it's feeling great."

Iommi had been in pain after problems with his right hand joints.

He told the BBC Radio 2 "Radcliffe and Maconie Show" in October that the cartilage had worn out between the joints.

"It was bone to bone and it was getting a bit painful," he said.

Iommi had his hand strapped up at the rock awards, but said he was still able to pick up his guitar.

"No, I can play! " he said. "I'm just wearing this now because if people shake your hand I don't want to push it, I want to take it easy for a bit.

"But it's been really good, and I'm glad I went that route before having any kind of operation."

Being a Sabbath fan from way back, it's great to see Tony, and even Sabbath as a whole, get this kind of respect. Because I remember a darker time, the 80's and the early 90's, when Tony and the Sabbath name got barely any respect at all. You didn't see even the metal bands of the time cite them as influences, and regardless of whether or not you think they deserved it because of the circus of singers they went through that decade, they didn't need to get shit on as often as they did.

Smile, Tony, you weathered the fucking storm, and showed all those fucks who was king!
