SLAYER: 'World Painted Blood' Debuts At No. 12 On BILLBOARD Chart - Nov. 11, 2009
SLAYER's new album, "World Painted Blood", sold 41,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 12 on The Billboard 200 chart.

SLAYER's last CD, "Christ Illusion", opened with more than 62,000 units to debut at position No. 5 on The Billboard 200 chart. This was the highest position ever on the chart for SLAYER, who previously reached No. 8 with their 1994 release "Divine Intervention" after moving 93,000 copies of that album in its first week.

SLAYER's 2001 album, "God Hates Us All", registered a first-week tally of 51,000 to land at No. 28, while 1998's "Diabolus In Musica" opened with 46,000 units, debuting at No. 31.

"God Hates Us All" has sold 319,000 copies and its predecessor, "Diabolus In Musica", has moved 306,000 copies so far. Several of the earlier SLAYER albums have been certified gold for sales in excess of 500,000 copies in the United States, including "Divine Intervention".

"World Painted Blood" first-week chart positions so far:

Germany: #7
Australia: #9
USA: #12
U.K.: #41
New Zealand: #16

Slayer always give to slayer fans what we want, so we dont take care of the reviews talking shit of this album, at least 8 killer tracks, for me Americon is not so bad and Human Strain and Playing With Dolls are simply good tracks, but they from SLAYER so they kick ass too.

Tom Araya singing is amazing, jeff and kerry do insane solos and riffs and what can i say about DAVE LOMBARDO, the god of drum, incredible performance, he is an animal

The only reason 'Christ Illusion' (which it seems like I am the only one that liked it) sold more or debuted higher in the first week was because of the big hype surrounding it being Dave's first CD back with the band since 1990. If it hadn't have been for that, then it, too, would probably have sold in the 30,000 to 60,000 range just like the last few CDs. I am 33 and have been listening to SLAYER since I was 14 and think they are the absolute best band ever, period.

Fuck Metallica and Megadeth.

Hail SLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the new CD. The songs are all over the place. Great CD and good job guys. Hopefully you'll bring some bands I actually like with you on tour when you headline over here in the US next year and not skip Atlanta on tour like so many bands do (but most bands period I don't like so it's not a big loss there.)

I'm done buying Slayer albums. The last Slayer album worth more than the plsatic it was stamped on is the highly underrated Divine Intervention. WPB is like some prank that Slayer and Greg Fidelman are pulling on what's left of the CD buying public. I dont know who Fidelman blew to get in to the music industry, but every mix he does is horrible. WPB is no exception. Slipknot Volume 3? TERRIBLE MIX....Death Magnetic is ok but would have been great if not for the oversaturation and the resulting clipping. WPB? The worst mix I've heard in years. It's all midrange. The guitar sound is weak. Tom araya lost his voice about 15 years ago. Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman are 2 of the best RHYTHM GUITARISTS of all time. As far as leads go? As usual poorly structured whammy dives and nonsensical chaos. They should pull this album off of the shelves and Andy Sneap produce. Just listen to ENDGAME. Superior production in every aspect/ Hell, get Chris "Zeuss" Harris to produce. "Clients" frm The Red Chord, and every Hatebreed album from "The Rise Of Brutality" on was produced by Zuess and sound a hell of a lot better than WPB.

there's not a goddamn thing wrong with the production....it's raw as it should be, like a high polished demo. Tom's vocals on WPB are the strongest in quite a while. great tracks throughout and a showcase of everything Slayer does well. For the record Christ Illusion is a masterpiece....in my opinion their weakest album, if you can even call it that would be Diabolos. WPB is very strong and should be given a few more spins if you have any doubts.

Can people bitching on the production of the new Slayer be a little more explicit and tell us what is so wrong with it?

This is a production which reveals the band as it sounds in the room of a recording studio, not a clinical-pro-tools edited,-re-arranged and copy-pasted kind of production you hear everywhere these days.

People are now used to those sterile productions and expect all bands to sound like Arch Enemy these days. Go in a rehearsal room and tell me which bands sounds like they do on their recent records: NONE!

Recording your music, shouldn't involve studio trickery beyond the occasional edition and second takes, especially for a rock band! If you can't play it like it is then you're ain't worth a dime from me. If you're not ready to have it sound like it is, then your music ain't worth a dime from me either.

I am glad Slayer went the 'honest' way on this album and tried to stay away from lower tunnings for the most part.

Well, the number for GHUA looks about right but the DIM figure must a typo. DIM had sold 293,000 by April 2007 so that number should probably read 296,000 and not 256,000. Also, what has Christ Illusion sold to date?

I actually like the production. I think I even heard Tom's bass a couple of times. I like the first song, playing with dolls, some of the different styles, where they branch out a little by Slayer standards, etc. At this point in their career, the fast stuff comes off as sub par, but there is no arguing it is Slayer. No big surprise! Ya know what yer gettin...

I've only given the album one spin since I bought it last Thursday, but I didn't mind it. It'll either grow on me, or at the minimum, not be too bad of an album from Slayer.

As far as the production itself goes, it doesn't bother me too much, other than I think the drums could have been mixed a little bit better. I'd also like to hear a more razor-thin guitar sound like on "RIB," but whatever. I don't think the production is a big deal, and I get what they were trying to go for: a more natural, organic sound.

Also, as far as number goes, looks like Slayer should be opening for Megadeth and Dethklok ;)

I really don't get you new breed of metal fans at all. You couldn't mix cake batter and your complaining about production? Shut up already. You will find the dumbest things to complain about. The production to me is fine. You probably didn't even buy the album and downloaded it. So you are listening to a shity MP3! Enough already!

I'm getting tired of this downloading age! I really am. People getting the album a month early and crap. I miss the old days were you HAD to wait until it came out. No streaming audio of the album's before. Nothing getting "leaked".

If you download something to see if you like it fine. Go buy it if you like it. Don't just load it on your MP3 player and not buy it. You people today are so lame! Do you even listen to music on a stereo? Or just your little shity iPod ear buds? Try listening to it on a actual stereo! Not a damn MP3! Have you ever heard music on vinyl? Oh yeah, that's right. That takes too much effort!

Ha Ha, They got smoked by Lamb of God.

If I were Slayer, honostly thier is enough good shit on Reign, South, and Abyss, that they never play live. That they should stop writing new music. And just do a world tour once every two years. And when they get tired of the same old set list, start busting out shit like "Read Between the Lies", or "Temptation" which Ive never head them play live.

I dont know why but I loved Chirst Illusion, but I just cant get into this album.

I THINK THE POST SEASONS ERA OF SLAYER IS DIFFERENT AND INCOMPARABLE WITH THE FIRST, AND IN THE SLAYER CARRER ALL SINGLE ALBUMS ARE VERY DIFFERENT EXCEPT FOR SHOW NO MERCY AND HELL AWAITS THAT ARE VERY SIMILAR.

DIVINE INTERVENTION IS AWESOME, AND I THINK THAT BOSTAPH DID HIS BEST JOB IN HIS CAREER IN THAT ALBUM

DIABOLUS IS THE ONLY RECORD FOR ME THAT IS A LOT OF STEPS DOWN ON SLAYER CAREER, BUT I ENJOY IT TO (SPECIALY POINT, BITTER PEACE, STAIN OF MIND, DESIRE, SCREAMING FROM THE SKY)

GOD HATES US ALL FOR ME IS AN INCREDIBLE ALBUM, IS NOT VERY FAST BUT IS VERY AGRRESSIVE AND I LOVE THE LYRICS (SPECIALLY EXILE, THRESHOLD, PAYBACK)

CHRIST ILLUSION WITH THE RETURN OF GOD LOMBARDO HAS VERY CLASSIC SLAYER TRACKS (FLESH STORM, JIHAD, CULT, SUPREMIST) BUT THE REST IS NOT BETTER THAN GOD HATES... OR DIVINE...

WORLD PAINTED BLOOD IS WHAT I WANT OF SLAYER IN 2009, I LOVE IT EXCEPT FOR HUMAN STRAIN AND PLAYING WITH DOLLS, THE REST IS FUCKING AMAZING

MP3 sound quality is AWFUL
anyone listening to the album on MP3 shouldn't even bother....and that goes for any album as well.

The production has grown on me....I just would have had a more classic slayer guitar sound....having said that I like the RAW RECORDING....and I LOVE the fact that you can hear EVERYTHING including BASS

WPB is a really good album
Can't wait to hear stuff from it LIVE!!!!!

Greg Fidelman ruined another great metal record and I won't stop bitching since I can do a better job in my room with my PC only !!!

I wonder how a dude with so much high-end studio gear can come up with such a pathetic mix and still convince bands like Metallica or Slayer that it does sound great. These guys must be deaf after years of intensive touring.

I have nothing against a raw approach of recording/mixing but the result on WPB is just plain dull and certainly does not sound as good as Slayer in their rehearsal room.

There's no low end, you can hear digital saturation (clipping) here and there, the mid range is flat and painful to the ears at the same time (Fidelman's "magic" touch ?!?).

The guitar sound (except on Psychopathy Red which wasn't recorded during the same session) is just a joke and the bass is buried under a wall of muddiness and overcompression.

Tom's vocals is the only thing decent soundwise on this record.

I really wanted to buy WPB but I love metal too much to support such a sub-par production plaguing a surprisingly good album.

Fidelman, please stop fucking with metal bands !

Does anyone know...Did a Slayer album ever get certified Platinum in the US?

I figure maybe Reign, just because word-of-mouth hails this THE Slayer record and it probably keeps selling throughout the years.
