JOE PERRY: AEROSMITH's Problems Far From Over

AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry tells RollingStone.com that Steven Tyler's appearance at last night's (Tuesday, November 10) THE JOE PERRY PROJECT concert in New York City came as a surprise even to him. "There was all this commotion during our encore break and somebody said, ' Steven is here.' " Perry says. "And I was like, 'What?' After exchanging pleasantries, Tyler asked to join the group on stage for the final encore of "Walk This Way". "Being an acquaintance of 40 years, I said, 'Why not?'" Perry says. "So he came up and sang and that was the last I saw of him." Despite Tyler's onstage insistence that he isn't leaving the band (see video below), Perry says AEROSMITH is still considering touring and recording with a new singer. "He wants to take two years off from the band," Perry tells RollingStone.com. "The rest of the band wants to keep on working. We have so many different options to fill up that time. Anything is possible at this point. Basically, any communication that we've had over the last couple of months has been through managers, so that's been pretty strange." Perry adds, "I never won any money trying to second-guess what goes on in Steven's mind. I guess this is just AEROSMITH business as usual."

give him 9 months off, and don't tour right away. allowing about a year off. it's an ok compromise.
All depends on WHAT you have lined up for a new AERO
album. IT WILL HAVE TO BE A STRONG ONE, so if you feel sure, with what you have in the bag DO IT !
Steven wants to do a solo. end of story. A Stevenless AERO album would tarnish the bands history....
so i dunno i 'd only tour w/o him, but not under the AEROSMITH BANNER - maybe i 'd call my self TOYS IN THE ATTIC or sth.....
Call up Desmond Child...anyone.... n do it !

I've been supported this band until they went down commercial mass market road, or anything that has come after "Done With Mirrors"!
& if this band has any hope of regaining their ass-kicking legacy, its a kick in the ass.
If its Tyler who needs to leave then so be it, & maybe they would be smart to change the name to Get Your Wings, or whatever cause what they put out might just be like their glory days of ass kickin!
Then Tyler couldn't touch it!

Tyler is obviously on a power trip, personally, I haven't bought an album since they hired outside writers to help compose their overproduced crap. They are still good musicians though. This is pretty simple to me....find a new singer, give Tyler his precious pretty boy time off and call it something different....play aerosmith songs on tour, put a new cd out that rocks....reall rock and roll and see what happens, if it fails, then the aerosmith legacy doesn't suffer, it it succeeds...then screw em......

I agree I've been a fan for 30 yrs! I will not support anything Joe Perry put out he's really pissing me off lately.
I live in the area that Aerosmith are from and I constantly hear how Joe Perry is a stuck up asshole and Steven is always nice and charming and friendly to fans when out and about. Fuck you Perry and take your annoying wife with you

Perry, I understand yer ready to roll, but no matter how controlling Steven may seem, he's one of the best frontmen of one of the best Rock N Fuckin Roll bands of ALL time, don't fuck that up and try to do anything AEROSMITH without him. Because that my friend will put Aerosmith to waste. You just did a solo record, tour on it for 6 months, take a break, then head into the studio with the other guys and by that time a Year will have gone by, Tyler takes his break, and the Biggest band in Rock comes back refreshed with a Killer Album and a Killer Tour. Take a breath, and keep some integrity with your band.

Joe Perry says the problems are far from over in the headline, but in the video at the 0:30 mark he says it is not true that they are fighting and shit like that. Don't make no sense.
