AEROSMITH's JOE PERRY: We're Not Going To Wait For STEVEN TYLER

AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry tells Billboard.com singer Steven Tyler's surprise guest appearance at his JOE PERRY PROJECT concert Tuesday night (Nov. 10) in New York "really didn't change anything in my mind" about the status of their band. Perry tells Billboard.com that Tyler "never said he was leaving the band" but further explains that the singer "said he wanted two years off to do his other projects," which is where things become problematic. " AEROSMITH wants to work," says Perry, who Tweeted earlier in the week that the band was "positively looking for a new singer to work with." He adds, "the band's been playing together for 40 years. It's a really powerful rock band, and I don't want to see it just go to waste and I don't think any of the other guys do, either. We're gonna work and we're gonna do something — I'm not exactly sure what yet, but the band's too good to let it sit around. We're not going to wait for Steven." Read more from Billboard.com

I think its hard for a band to survive without its vocalist. I know it can work but this band has had the same vocalist for ever and a day. Would hardcore fans be able to get around Tylers replacement on a new album?

Tyler, mostly. Perry's just trying to milk out this exposure for his current solo outing. Nobody's interested in a "Brand Tyler" solo project, which was probably along the same lines as the Cornell/Timbaland fiasco. Just either tour behind your past hits and forget about recording anymore "relevant" music or just call it quits.

As another poster said, Steven Tyler IS Aerosmith. The other 4 guys can tour together but do not try calling it Aerosmith. It's like Motorhead without Lemmy or the Stones without Mick.
Plus, if Tyler didn't say he was quitting it seems like this is all Joe trying to force him out because he thinks he found this new kid who does a good Steve impersonation.
I say if Tyler wants 2 years off to do something else let him have it! He's earned it. And as far as the other guys being in great shape, they really AREN'T! Both Tom and Brad had to miss half of the last tour and Kramer sat out a tour a few years ago. These are old men that could do with some time off!
Joe should just do his Joe Perry Project thing and be satisfied with that until Steve's got whatever he's doing out of his system. Don't tarnish the Aerosmith name by doing something stupid like this.

I still think this is more of a ploy to try to pressure Steven Tyler into putting off his solo projects until a few years from now when the band is done for good. Which is exactly what that whole Alter Bridge singer thing was about with Jimmy Page.

First off cool name (I'm serious) secondly I just want to say that as a 40 year old...I stopped "buying into Aerosmith" way back in 85 (the year I graduated High School ...yup I'm up there)) "Done With Mirrors" I really think that was the last good A-smith album...even though it gets slagged alot. Everything they did after that, reguardless of "the hits" ie..."Dude"....Angel....Janies got a Gun ewwwww! was spotty at best...usually all the deep cuts were actually the better songs...again "my opinion" and lastly...your right, what the fuck is with the people who post "first"??? It's so unbelievably annoying...please for the love of all that is holy diver....grow up!

I think Aerosmith should record something new soon... 2 years is a long time (and we'll probably see some "ultimate-awesome-this-is-the-shit-greatest-hits" CD coming out) and it's been a long time since Aerosmith put out something new and good (Just Push Play sucks!)...
In the other hand, If Tyler won't do it, It's not worthy...
So, maybe it's time for a farewell tour!! A real one!

Joe listen here playa, I had the unfortunate experience of seeing Aerosmith without you and Whitford back in 82.
He was pretty f'ed up and was singing train kept a rollin lyrics to dream on, but it was acceptable.
Even though Steven loaded up at cvs before the show it was"Steven fucking Tyler" so it was great!
Unlike Crespo and duffus those two were souless dreadfull players and ruined the whole show.
That and the opening act Dio blew Aerosmith off the stage like Katrina to New Orleans.
Joe it didn't work w/o you and Whitford, there is not a chance in hell people are going to see you in concert without him so relax and make excuses why your solo album hasn't sold a hundred copies.

Second of all, Joe Perry has come off like a TOTAL douche bag. He talks so much shit behind Steven Tylers (also a dbag) back and then has him up on stage and DENIES that he knows where the rumors started (WHILE BEING A HUGE HUGE ASSHOLE TO FANS! "I'm Joe Perry, I'm too cool to sign guitars") and then the second that Steven Tyler is gone, Joe Perry starts talking MORE SMACK!
Steven Tyler was at least being a nice guy and answering fans questions. Even if he is on heroin and other opiates....I wouldn't want to tour with Joe Perry and his egotistical attitude either.
And I love how the other 3 members are staying quiet....I'm sure they're embarrassed. This is stupid.

Record an Instrumental album of HARD-ASS BLUES, that way we don't have to hear the PAP commercial love songs that have dominated every Aerosmith release since Permanent Vacation. Maybe even Let Joe, Brad or Tom sing a bit. Or do like Santana and Get a bunch of guest singers for each track.

They are famous and very talented musicians and as soon as one thing happens in their life it is in the spot light. Take a look at your own lives and the drama that is in it then stop and take a long hard look in the mirror when your saying bitches cuz you are the only bitches that I see!
