HALFORD: 'Winter Songs' First-Week Sales Revealed - Nov. 12, 2009
"Halford III - Winter Songs", the new album from JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford's HALFORD band, sold 1,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD landed at position No. 26 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

HALFORD's first holiday CD, "Halford III - Winter Songs" is being released via Rob's new label Metal God Records, distributed globally by ADA Global/Warner Music Group, Fontana/Universal Music Group, Conveyor/Universal Music Canada and Sony Music Japan.

"Halford III - Winter Songs" is Rob's first solo release in more than seven years, and includes a collection of new Halford-penned tracks plus traditional holiday favorites presented with original arrangements by HALFORD (Rob Halford on vocals, Roy Z. on guitar, Metal Mike Chlasciak on guitar, Mike Davis on bass and Bobby Jarzombek on drums).

Written, arranged and recorded during 2008 and 2009, "Halford III - Winter Songs" celebrates one of the most exciting holiday periods of the year.

"Halford III - Winter Songs" debuts new HALFORD tracks "Get Into The Spirit", "When Christmas Comes For Everyone", "Light Of The World", "What Child Is This", "Oh Holy Night", "Come All Ye Faithful" and more.

"Get Into The Spirit", the new video from HALFORD, can be viewed at www.MetalGodShop.com.

HALFORD's last studio album, "Crucible", came out in 2002. "Metal God Essentials, Vol. 1", a 2007 collection containing 15 songs spanning Rob Halford's solo career, featured two new songs, "Forgotten Generation" and "Drop Out".

Well, it was a strange idea from the get-go.

I myself have no interest in buying this, but since Halford is such a class act, I was hoping it would do a little better than that. I hope he had fun recording it at least.

that 1st paragraph is total bu$#shit! You know, he sold just over 1,000 copies here, come on. That's basically friends and family, man. and what position on what chart and how new of an artist?
SQUAT! I wish him the best, and als I'm sayin' is that it hasn't sold, whether it is or will meet his expectations, that I don't know, but it not selling (argument) could equally be made from those same words and #'s.

Peace, and Merrry Christmas to all including you Mr. metal god!

The novelty of 'heavy metal Christmas songs' was pretty muich over awhile ago.

As a rule, if Twisted Sister do something it's already way beyond played out.

It is in the Holiday music section of Best Buy..
Not sure if that has any factor on the sale's #'s
Truly I'm not sure if my local music store even has it in stock?
This effort by Halford might be seen as more a novelty to the Metal masses!?

I'll probably download one or two songs off of Itunes...but the fact is, I'm not in that holiday spirit yet. That doesn't even start up for me until after Thanksgiving. Shit Halloween was only 2 weeks ago for fucks sake.

Actually, it's a good metal album! It would still rock without the Christmas theme. I highly encourage you grinches to lighten up and pick up a copy. (Besides, it Beats the shit out of Bob Dylan's Travesty!)

Not a good idea Rob.. I know you thought it would work, but to put the HALFORD band name on was a bad bad idea.
Besides, no one wants to spend money on a holiday or seasonal album. Not in the demographic he is looking for.
PLus I am sure he is figuring, if he gets a lot of returns, they can just re-ship them out next year, and the year after........

Just a terrible idea to do old traditional christmas songs. Especially from a Gay, Metal vocalist. If he had all originals, maybe that would mean something, but this was bad for his reputation. Bad Move in every direction.

Rob, stick to Priest and tour. All the rehashed Halford stuff and now this, just makes it all look like a cash grab.

It's Halford. If anybody's earned the right to record whatever seems like a good idea to him at the time, it's Rob Halford. Sure, some of his ideas over the years have been duds (Two, Nostradamus, for sure!) but I think the guy's earned the right to take whatever risks he wants to take, even if it seems ridiculous.

A willingness to risk appearing ridiculous is one of those things that separates the men from the boys.

And Roy Z rocks.

Just that I don't 'consider' him a 'new or developing' artist. I mean all 1400 people who bought it for sure 'new' exactly who he is. And you might be only on that chart simply because you haven't cracked the top 100 on billboard 200 chart. It seems sort of 'Lawyerese' if you know what I mean, that's all. Much success to him anyway.

Since I'm listening to live Maiden "Flight 666 CD" have to say Bruce's latest solo LP 'Tyranny of Souls' is killer and Roy-Z of course is awesome on that solo CD. Every song is great, man!!!

If I can't find it in the next few days I'll have to order it. Definitely buying it. I think it's a great move and it's not "bad for his reputation" at all. Maybe for 12 people on Blabbermouth. Also, Nostradamus is a great record imo.

The biggest problem is that it's hard to find, that's why it's not selling. I have not seen it in ANY stores in my area, and I've been to many. I dislike ordering online unless I have to. Looks like this is getting ordered with my next few Uriah Heep albums...

It's a worthwhile effort for him, I think!
Congrats on having spirit yourself, Mr. metal god.

If I see it in the stores under $11.00 I'll pick it up!!!!! so there.
Hell, I'll even review it right here. Christmas is coming...
