SCORPIONS To Embark On Two-Year Tour In 2010 - Nov. 13, 2009
Veteran German hard rockers SCORPIONS will embark on a two-year world tour in 2010. An international press conference will be held in January to announce the details of the trek, which will include dates in Germany, USA, South America, Asia, Russia and other European countries.

SCORPIONS recently spent time at a studio in Hannover, Germany with Swedish producers Mikael "Nord" Andersson and Martin Hansen (the team behind THE RASMUS' "Dead Letters" CD) recording their new album for an early 2010 release.

"We are working on 12 songs at the moment," guitarist Mathias Jabs told Scorps News. "Great stuff. Definitely 'Scorpionized' in sound and attitude. More towards the early Eighties."

Although SCORPIONS' new CD is tentatively due in Europe in March, a U.S. release date has yet to be pinned down. "Azoff Management [which represents SCORPIONS] is currently working on the [record] deal," Jabs said. "Simultaneous release is up to the record companies."

He added, "The weak dollar has been a reason to delay the U.S. release in order to avoid bad imports in the 'rest' of the world, for all non-American bands in recent years."

SCORPIONS recently extended their record deal with Ariola, which is part of the international media conglomerate Sony BMG Music Entertainment.

The band's latest CD, "Humanity - Hour 1", was produced by James Michael and co-produced by songwriter/producer Desmond Child, who has worked with such high-profile pop/rock artists as AEROSMITH, BON JOVI, ALICE COOPER, KISS, RICKY MARTIN, CHER, MICHAEL BOLTON and BONNIE TYLER.

Schenker released his official German-language autobiography, "Rock Your Life", in Germany on October 14. An English-language version is also planned. More details will be revealed soon.

SCORPIONS took part in a special concert, dubbed "A Night To Remember", on October 2 at the Grugahalle in Essen, Germany, with special guests, former members/guitarists Uli Jon Roth and Michael Schenker.

Yeah, they are fucking awesome live. I've seen 'em a few times, last on the Savage Amusement tour with the Monsters of Rock in '88. Someone threw a camera at Klaus at the Seattle Kingdome ( hit him right in the throat!) and he said something like..."You people you need to have some respect, thats it we are outta here!" Good thing they were nearly finished with their set.

I bet this new record will be killer. Love me some old school Scorps.

by early eighties I hope he means along the sound of blackout and love at first sting or savage amusement.before blackout I had heard only the zoo and my friend bought that record and that was the only good song on it.blackout kicked ass from start to finish and I loved the rest of the stuff they did in the 80's.could possibly care less about anything they did before that. I don't care about what overrated guitar players were in the band before then.call it sell out if you must but the music they made before blackout blows compared with that and the records that followed.I bought 1 of those and compared to blackout it sucked.there I said it and offer no apologies for it or liking a band that changed thier sound to make music people liked.

Animal Magentism, the album with The Zoo on it, is one of their best. Every song on theireis killer! That is one of their best albums. Blackout is better, but only barely. Blackout was just a continuation of Animal Magnetism with a few more uptempo songs on it. But Animal Magnetism is heavy as hell, almost Sabbathy and dark.

Lovedrive is also killer, chock full of classics like Loving You Sunday Morning and of course the uptempo Lovedrive. That was their first album with Mathias on guitar, although Michael Schenker played on some songs. It was sorta the handoff album.

wow dude what drugs are you on if you think Uli Jon Roth is overrated? He was one of the best guitarists of the 70s. Songs like Sails of Charon or We'll Burn the Sky are as catchy as anything they put out in the 80s. I still love the 80s material as well, but to say that the 70s stuff blows is asinine

Yeah, Ive seen a few of Laggerluggers posts, and he is sorta "challenged" or something. I mean, everyone has a right to their opinions and tastes of course, but when people say they don't like burgers or mexican food or coca cola you have to wonder.

Scorps early shit is badass for sure, but I love 'em most from Lovedrive on.

I am on drugs and my posts are stupid because I don't get into a bands early stuff? like with priest I had never heard of them until steel but after hearing that bought an a earlier record which sounded nothing like steel but I am supposed to love that to?same with scorps never heard of them until lovedrive with the zoo but blackout blew me away but again I am supposed to be a big fan of stuff that doesn't sound anything like blackout?sorry not for me.as for the guitarists never had heard anything by roth so can't realy judge him but come on if he is half as good as you say shouldn't he have put out something by now that the average fan has heard?and michael shenker is overrated.nothing he has done solo comes close to what he did in UFO while thier sound has not changed since he left the band and they have continued to put out quality music since he left!thier latest blows anything he has done solo out of the water!again I bought the first2 shenker solo cd's only because I thought it would be like getting 2 UFO records a year since he was thier guitarist but they both suck compared to UFO.the only decent stuff he put out are the ones with robin mccauly a real vocalist who can also write songs something shenker hasn't done since he was with UFO.ok now back to my drugs,I mean the new UFO you should give it a listen and then try and tell me shenker is better.on second thought don't bother ur not gonna change my mind!

Hey, in my opinion and 1st let me say that only Metallica / Maiden / and my fav. RUSH I like more than Scorpions. As far as their 70's work. Get a compilation - they only have about 20 compilation CD's. Or try TOKYO TAPES 2CD live, For those in the know, I like "Your Light" as well from the great album of '77 "Takin by Force" (name says it all) Virgin Killer '76 and In Trance '75 as well as the classic of all classics, "Fly to the Rainbow '74" I also like from their debut CD, (totally diff. lineup) "Lonesome Crow" the title track- over 10 min. plus I like alot the song, "Leave Me" great bass work on the beginning esp. of that song. It fits the mood right, if you know. That debut LP. came out in 1972, my birth yr. kinda crazy if you think about it, they've been putting out records since 1972 that's over 37 yrs. '80s stuff is what hooked me tho. and yes I LOVED and still do "Blackout" if you like the '80s stuff try the compilation, "Deadly Sting...the Mercury Years" with at least 25 songs on a double CD. pssst. The German (import) remasters, tho expensive, are way better than the US. ones. Hands down, way better, clearer louder and mixed better IMO. Only real Scorpions lp.s that I dislike are "Pure Instince" and of course EYEIIEYE. DOES ANYONE LIKE THAT lp?? really. Glad to see "A Moment In a Million Years" is on the new DVD Amazonia - Live in the Jungle, which is hitting stores this Dec. CAN'T WAIT.

peace. SCORPS FAN #1.
