ANVIL: 'The Story' Director Talks About Band's Appearance In 'The Green Hornet' - Nov. 14, 2009
Sacha Gervasi — the director of "Anvil! The Story of Anvil", a mockumentary-like true account of fiftysomething Canadian heavy-metal practitioners Robb Reiner and Steve "Lips" Kudlow who, after a desultory European tour with their band ANVIL, decide to record a 13th album in a final attempt to fulfill their boyhead dreams of stardom — recently spoke to the MakingOf web site (see video below) about ANVIL's upcoming movie debut in "The Green Hornet". ANVIL performed one of its songs in a scene in Michel Gondry's new hero film that featured the members of the group exploding on stage at a rock club.

In an October 2 appearance on WJCU's "Metal On Metal" radio show, Lips told host Bill Peters that "The Green Hornet" would feature the band playing either the title track to its forthcoming CD, "Juggernaut Of Justice", or "Flying Blind" from the group's latest album, "This Is Thirteen".

In "The Green Hornet", based on the '30s-radio-series-turned-'60s-television-show of the same name, Seth Rogen plays Britt Reid, newspaperman by day, masked crime-fighter by night.

According to People magazine, Rogen and costar Jay Chou are currently shooting the movie — due for release early next year — in Los Angeles.

I love Anvil. I saw the Anvil movie and everything, but am I the only one who thinks maybe they need to ease up on the promotion? As a metal fan, I'm kinda sick of seeing them everywhere.

iF i were them, I'd be milking this thing to the end. Why not?

Think "jon and kate plus eight".

Grab the 15 minutes of fame and extend it.

I'm all for the success of an underdog metal band but the movie was tremendously hyped for being epic. I thought is was slow and not very entertaining. I expected a lot tho' as it was supposed to be SO great. Good luck to the guys tho'. The Thirteen album sounded like it was going to rock!

Did someone win the lottery and privately invest in this band? They were in a Beatles Anthology ad on VH1. That wasn't cheap. Hope they recouped that investment back from the DVD

Considering the length of time these guys have been hammering at it, I'd say they have a lot more press coming to them just to make up for lost time.

Now, just to get RAVEN a movie...
