Missing METALLICA Fan's Mom Questions Hitchhiking Claim - Nov. 15, 2009

WHSV.com reports: Virginia state police say Morgan Harrington may have been hitchhiking when she was last seen on the Copeley Road bridge, after leaving a METALLICA concert, but Morgan's mother says that would be extremely unusual behavior for her daughter.

In a telephone interview, Gil Harrington said she had never known of her daughter trying to catch a ride with a stranger.

Police say witnesses saw a woman fitting Harrington's description trying to get a ride.

Morgan's parents, Dan and Gil Harrington, appeared on NBC's "Today Show" Saturday morning to discuss the latest clues in the case and talk directly to the person who they think has Morgan. Watc video of their appearance below.

Morgan disappeared on October 17 during a METALLICA concert at John Paul Jones Arena. She was last seen by eyewitnesses hitchhiking on the Copeley Road Bridge about 9:30 that night.

According to NBC29.com, Gil Harrington stated, "None of this makes sense. It doesn't make sense that our daughter is missing — snatched from her life, abducted or possibly murdered."

	This story just turns into more and more of a bummer with each day. These situations are always a diabolical source of pain for the parents and I always feel the most sympathy for them. It must hurt in ways we're incapable of understanding, unless it's happening to us. From what I've read about this story, I think she got into an altercation with a bloke that she knew, which got out of hand and she fled the carpark, losing her purse etc and wasn't hitch-hiking, but flagging cars down. When I was 15, I was walking through a highschool grounds one night with my step brother and a friend. We got jumped by a couple of guys and I ran into on-coming traffic and began waving down cars, until one stopped and scared the douchers off. I dunno, maybe this girl was doing that. I guess it could explain her mother's confusion over her hitch-hiking.

	I watched this entire little interview. Very heartbreaking. And it has indeed been nearly a month since this all happened. I'm glad this is the one subject that that in general blabbermouthers have been decent about. But there does come a time when the parents are going to have to move on. I hope the search continues by law enforcement for a long time, but I would say that if something doesn't turn up by the time Christmas is over, that it is time for the parents to put this behind them. That's a horrible thing to even contemplate as it is, but neither should they torture themselves with too much hope. I never get involved talking about these sort of things, disappearances, murders, etc., but this particular case really has me pissed of. I hate seeing on of us go down. I mean, she even looks somewhat similar to a metal chick I grew up with in school in the 80's, was friends with. I used to kinda want to go out with her but she was way caught up in a different world, different set of people, etc., than I was and I had no problem just being friends with her. We actually hung out a lot for a while after high school ended. Had some great laughs. So it is so easy for me to look at this Morgan girl and just think, what if? What if this was someone I knew. What if this happened to my wife who I have let go to the bathroom by herself at many a metal concert (SURE AS FUCK WONT BE DOING THAT ANYMORE, WILL ESCORT HER MYSELF!). SO it all just pisses me off. I so hop the very best for her, and her parents. And I would really like to see her friends say something about all this!! I mean, was she on drugs that night, what the fuck?? How the fuck did she end up outside the damn concert??

	her parents? Has anyone questioned them? One never knows in today's society. She also could just be flat out pissed at her parents and is rebelling to the point of this. That's just my take, anyway, hope she makes an appearance soon.
