OPETH, MOTÖRHEAD, AMON AMARTH Members Among Swedish Rockers Supporting Animal Rights - Nov. 16, 2009
Swedish progressive metallers OPETH have issued the following update:

"Djurens Rätt, Sweden's largest non-profit animal rights organisation, asked if [OPETH drummer Martin 'Axe' Axenrot] and his cat Max would be interested in being photographed for a very special calendar of rock stars and their pets. Axe being a big animal lover didn't hesitate one second, which resulted in Max and Axe being Misters July! Members of AMON AMARTH, CRUCIFIED BARBARA, DEAD BY APRIL, DIA PSALMA, HAMMERFALL, MANDO DIAO, MILLENCOLIN, MOTÖRHEAD, SONIC SYNDICATE, THE HIVES and THE SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES all had their pics taken with their pets as well, so if you want to see a slightly different side of your favourite rock band, we suggest you order one of these beauties right away.

"Swedish fans can buy it here, and if you live abroad you can go to this location (PayPal only).

"All profit goes straight into the important work these nice people at Djurens Rätt do."

Great cause it is. More bands need to also sign up and take part in events like this.

That is fucking awesome. If I weren't a poor-ass college student who can barely afford rice, I would buy one.

This is the most boring and unimaginative bands I have ever heard. I can't get my head around that people would like this crap.

You are the boring person. You keep posting that same comment on every news where Opeth appears. Could you elaborate on your comment, please? I would really like to know why you say what you say. I aim for a constructive discussion all the way.

Animals do not have rights. It is wrong to mistreat them, of course, but it is sick and twisted to put them on the same plane as humans.

I believe that all living things have rights until they disrepect life. And the way I see the world is that animals are far more respectful than humans will ever be. I would put Fido on a pedestal in the heavens, far above Michael Vick.

Completely AGREED! It is sad to see those commercials of animals suffering on TV but you know what there are billions of PEOPLE going to sleep in terrible conditions every night as well. Let's put our time, focus and money into people first.
