MARTY FRIEDMAN: Tour, Album News - Nov. 17, 2009
Former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman will team up with Taiwanese superstar A-MEI for a tour of Asia and Australia starting late November. The ever-evolving pop diva will launch a bold new image by collaborating with Marty to show her yet-unseen aggressive side. The tour is an elaborate stage production and fans of Marty outside of Japan will now be able to enjoy Marty's playing in a new and amazing context. Exact tour dates and more details will be released soon.

Marty's "Tokyo Jukebox" solo tour is currently in the planning stages and is set to follow the A-MEI tour.

In TV news, Friedman will make his first appearance on Fuji Television's "Hey!Hey!Hey!" on Monday, November 23 at 8 p.m.

Friedman's "Tokyo Jukebox" is set for a January release in Europe on Mascot Records. The album will feature extensive liner notes exclusive to the European version.

Friedman has contributed the song "Meguriai" to Sony's new "Gundam Unplugged". The album also features Sugizo (X-JAPAN, LUNA SEA), Daita (SIAM SHADE) and is a rare chance to hear Marty's acoustic interpretation of one of the most famous Gundam-related songs. Release date is December 9 by Sony Music Japan.

This is one person that went for what he wanted in life, He was fed up with his role in Megadeth and went for something he dreamed of, which is obviously a whole different culture and language... He had the $$$ from his Megadeth career and went for it, now he seems totally happy, and with an album undertaking such as this... I mean this isn't your normal covers album, this is some complex shit that most guitar people could never do, ya gotta hand it to Marty, he went for what he wanted in life, never looked back , and he's accomplishing things HE wants to do, as much as alot of us Megadeth fans would have loved for him to stay or reunite with Mega, Marty is sticking to what he is in love with, ya gotta give him credit for that.....

He was on a documentary I think is was called Global metal on fuse friday. He is extremely happy being in Japan. He said that fans are much more open there unlike the u.s where certain types of music must tour with that same type of music. Hes doing what he enjoys and will never be back in Megadeth. Our loss his gain!!!

Marty is a truly in love with music... I know he listens to and plays a wide variety of it, like Kitaro for example and others in the old days. He started playing with bands even before he was in Hawaii (the band), that's when I got to know him and followed some of his career. I don't have all of his albums but quite a few and honestly I much prefer his solo efforts to what his done with Megadeth, though Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction are good albums. I know he is really liking it in Japan and the new opportunities it offers, he married a Japanese woman if I'm not wrong, it must have been long due with him wanting to move there, I totally agree with someone who follows his dreams as some of the earlier posts said, especially because he seems to have lots of creativity to give and he's definitely enjoying the ride!

Marty wanted to be a rock star and in the process ruined one of metals top bands. His actions are well documented and most people blame him for the shit heap that is Risk. Plainly speaking Marty is hiding in the far east and should never come back because he's a musical coward. Harsh i know, but true all the same.

He's having a harder time speaking English after years of living in Japan. The music is inspired by the Japanese culture and music these days. Interesting, even though it's no quite my thing.

Brian May and Robert Fripp probably want to have a word with him over the sound!!

i'm afraid you are a retard. marty was doing instrumental rock before megadeth and, after being sick and tired of mustaine's bs, finally quit and went back to instrumental music. i love that mustaine places all the blame for risk on marty. as if marty would have enough of a say in megadeth to dictate the entire direction of the songwriting when dave has made it clear that he is megadeth, regardless of who is in the band.

Hmm I actually might give Tokyo Jukebox a chance... I like the background music I hear on the video. Not my regular cup of tea though.
