MORBID ANGEL Signs With SEASON OF MIST - Nov. 18, 2009
Legendary Florida death metallers MORBID ANGEL have inked a worlwide deal (excluding Japan) with France's Season of Mist.

"I am truly looking forward to our new relationship with Season of Mist," bassist/vocalist David Vincent states. "Michael Berberian has a lot of artistic vision and is a real music fan. This has been a long process to get to this point and in my opinion, it was worth the wait!"

"I'm really stoked to be working now with Season Of Mist," adds founding member/guitarist Trey Azagthoth. "The French have always shown me they much more value art over fabricated flatlined hype, and it's this artistic-minded value that will open so many new doors for extreme music as a whole. Mind makes meaning, why not own the process?"

MORBID ANGEL's ninth album will be released in 2010.

Professionally filmed video footage of MORBID ANGEL's entire June 27, 2009 performance at the Rock al Parque festival at Parque Simon Bolivar in Bogota, Colombia can be viewed at this location. A clip of the new song "Nevermore" is available below. (Note: The footage originally aired on Colombia's Canal Capital.)

MORBID ANGEL guitarist Trey Azagthoth recently spoke to Revolver magazine about the band's upcoming album, which will mark the Florida-based group's first release to feature bassist/vocalist David Vincent since 1995's "Domination".

"We played the new song 'Nevemore' on the last tour and that kind of shows where our heads are at," he said. "I'd say it's like an assemblage of all sorts of stuff from the catalog and some new influences. I listen to a lot of hardcore [techno] music now — the fuckin' serious, artistic stuff, not that crap you hear at the clubs. That stuff has impact and it's really extreme. Even if there's no guitar in it or no real drums, the energy coming out of the speakers is amazing."

When asked who's going to be producing the album, Azagthoth replied, "All I can say is, when it's ready, it's going to be extreme and outside the box. And, hopefully, the songs will inspire people to look deeper inside themselves for 'the stuff' and to tap that potential that we as human beings have."

Although MORBID ANGEL's upcoming album does not currently have a name, its title will likely begin with the letter "I", in keeping with the band's tradition of titling their albums in alphabetical order beginning with 1989's "Altars of Madness", and continuing through "Heretic".

"A lot of people around the world have come up with titles that they thought it would be," David Vincent told Norway's "Tinitus" radio show in an interview that aired in June 2008. "There is no title yet — we've not decided on it. We've not decided whether it's going to continue following the alphabet or not. So anything that you hear or read on the Internet is totally speculation by anyone."

MORBID ANGEL played its first show with new touring guitarist, ZYKLON's longtime axemeister Destructhor (a.k.a. Thor Anders Myhren), on June 22, 2008 at the Hellfest in Clisson, France.

Regarding Destructhor's addition to the band's touring lineup, Vincent said, "We had a fairly long audition process. We looked long and hard at this. We decided when we began this process that it was gonna be a unanimous decision. We had several people [apply for the job] — very good players from, really, all over the world — and we got a video from Thor — the same video that we asked from all the different players; the same two songs — and some people didn't get past the initial discussion stage, and then some people went on to the next stage and it ended up that the band unanimously felt that Thor would be the best guitarist for the band."

MORBID ANGEL's current lineup is rounded out by drummer Pete Sandoval.

but S.O.M are going in all directions nowadays it seems. Never expected them to land a high profile band like M.A though.

i get a little worried. That style of music is really old hat now. Nobody really listens to it anymore. It had its day in the early to mid 90's and it went downill after that.

so i guess it's like M.A in that respect ;-)

wouldn't say GTA is their best, but a definitive highlight for me too, although a lot of people seem to dislike it...

anyway, Heretic was harldy average at best, so this is going to be like the first MA album in ten years...

Covenant was their best album.

It's hard to believe that they waited this long for an album release. Touring non-stop for 6-7 years.

MA should of at least sign with Roadrunner. How awesome would that be.

Juggalo Metalhead- You're right. They totally should have signed with a label who's dropping most of their metal acts. Great idea. Esp for a band with absolutely no commercial appeal who may sell 50,000 records.

was their last good CD. Let's hope the new one is on par or better and it will come out. I saw MA on the first tour when David Vincent came back and was blown away, but that seems like years ago.
Looking forward to seeing them with Thor, he was great in Zyklon.

If the rest of the album sounds like "Nevermore" then it will suck for sure. "Nevermore" sounds a lot like the "Heretic" stuff which well was pretty generic and weak compared to the older albums. I'm not expecting an "Altars of Madness" but I hope they can release a solid album.

ON THEIR 'GATEWAYS' TOUR. FUCKING BRUTAL! I LOVE MORBID ANGEL, BUT 'HERETIC' HAD A FLAT AND MUDDY PRODUCTION. THAT ALBUM AND 'FORMULAS' ARE THE ONLY TWO MA ALBUMS I DO NOT OWN. THIS NEW ALBUM BETTER BE AWESOME? MAYBE, NOW THAT THEY HAVE DAVE BACK? 'WHERE THE SLIME LIVE' IS THE BEST MA SONG EVER!

Whether coming from the legendary Altars of Madness or the "miraculous plague of slime" Domination or the awesome Heretic... Morbid Angel is one of the "feel it from deep within" bands that make music thaumaturgic and a wonderful new look on how things once were and how that flows with the wheel of life into the things that are and the things that will be.

Formulas Fatal to the Flesh is tops for me, except for the vocals. I was really dissapointed when I heard Tucker for the first time. I'd love to hear David Vincent do "Heaving Earth" or "Chambers of Dis" on tour! Hell, I'd love it if they re-recorded it with DV!

I was actually checking back to their official page and their myspace pages earlier this week for more news on the next album

Cannot fucking WAIT for this. MA without Vincent was good, but not the MA I grew-up with.

And now on Season of Mist? Superb. That's two MONSTER new albums from that label in one year for 2010. This and "Option Paralysis" will be my high-points for next year

they better pick a good producer this time: ballou, classen, rutan, maybe sneap but he starts to sound generic.

just someone who knows the style and is on top of the game!
