KORN Rumored To Headline Next Year's ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL - Nov. 19, 2009
KORN drummer Ray Luzier told Unwired TV in a recent interview (see video below) that the band might headline next year's edition of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour. Also rumored to take part in the trek are Connecticut hardcore/metal masters HATEBREED, whose frontman, Jamey Jasta, told Metal Mark of SkullsNBones.com in a November 16, 2009 interview, "We're gonna be on a very big summer tour, which I just can't say just yet, but most people will probably guess."

Last year's installment of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival featured SLAYER, MARILYN MANSON, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, BEHEMOTH, ALL THAT REMAINS, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, JOB FOR A COWBOY and more.

This summer, AOL's Noisecreep spoke with KORN frontman Jonathan Davis about the band's forthcoming disc, which is said to be a return to the group's earlier sound.

"It's really like the old school stuff ... like the first two records," Davis said. "It's just going back to our roots, working with [producer] Ross [Robinson, who also helmed the band's first two albums] ... It's just been amazing, and it sounds like nothing we've ever done. It's more in the vein of the first two records, and we're really excited about it. And working with Ross, it just sort of evolved out of us, naturally. He's got us going back to the old school-style of how we were writing, and how we all just sat in a room together and did all this stuff so. We're excited ... It's just how its been taking shape."

Other rumors I heard from various sources have also included Rob Zombie in the mix, along with Lamb of God and Mudvayne. Should be interesting on how the final literary turns out.

Do people still like these guys? I can only hear about Johnathan Davis' childhood problems so many times before I lose interest. (i.e. So many times = 0 times).

Metalheads Union local 666- Totally. First 2 years were good with strong line ups. This year is totally going to discredit the tour.

the_pagan_prosperity- I've also heard those with the addition of 5 Finger Death Punch.

Whoever compared this to Sounds was right on the money, except I don't really remember ever wanting to catch Mayhem for more than a band or two, whereas Sounds at least had a few bands in their prime (and Clutch!)

Ticket price - $50ish
Overpriced Beers consumed durning crappy bands - $60
Drunken grub purchased to soak up beer $15
Crazy $60 shirts purchased - $0

Blowing off the whole shitty thing after learning that KORN and Hatebreed are involved - Priceless

Not having to deal with dumb ass Hatebreed fans alone is bonus. I'm sure the short busses will clogging the parking lots at these shows.

Sounds was a great tour package the three years it went around, especially the first year. the red chord and clutch on the same tour is just a beautiful thing.

I enjoyed Mayhem this year, thought it was a strong line up, but I'm with everyone else saying Korn will mess this up. And there's no way they will record an album that sounds like their first album when two of the original members aren't in the band. It's just not going to happen, which is too bad b/c that first disc is the only thing worthwhile that they put out.

These guys are still going? Korn were what it were for their hey day, not much to them. Most fans i knew left korn's music after teenage years were over. Hard to believe 30 yr olds r going to korn concerts. But hey, if that's ur cup of tea more power to ya

I can understand why most people are just like "-yawn. korn?"
even though i liked their last two albums i can see why mostly everyone hated them. that stupid mallcore poser shit.
I really think Ross can actually bring them back to the attitude they had on their first two albums. As a long Korn fan I'm really excited to see how this comes out.

Okay KoRn is my favorite band, but last year a lot of Metalcore/Deathcore bands played here as well as other kinds. I think they should have Bring Me The Horizon in this year, they are widely known, and widely awesome. Another good band that should come, I know I'm being a dreamer, System Of A Down. lol

COMMENT | Oh yeah another one.

Another non-main stage is Black Veil Brides that would help them they don't even have a wikipedia page, but they are well known.
