RONNIE JAMES DIO Has Received BLABBERMOUTH.NET's 'Kind Words' Of Support

Earlier this week, DIO — the band fronted by legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio ( HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW) — cancelled its European tour after Ronnie was taken ill. An update on Ronnie's official web site reads as follows: " Wendy Dio [ Ronnie's wife/manager] would like to thank all of our friends and fans that have sent emails, cards, and blogs on Blabbermouth and let you know that she has passed them all on to Ronnie. " Wendy always reads Blabbermouth and gives Ronnie all the kind words the fans send. Any mean ones she throws in the trash, where is where they belong." DIO's lineup for the European tour was supposed to include WHITESNAKE/ex- DIO axeman Doug Aldrich due to the fact that the band's regular guitarist, Craig Goldy, had prior touring commitments with BUDGIE in Australia. DIO's "Killing The Dragon" album from 2002 was released in June on limited-edition vinyl with a gatefold pop-up cover via Night Of The Vinyl Dead. Only 500 hand-numbered copies were manufactured. "Killing The Dragon" was originally released by Spitfire Records. DIO's "The Very Beast of Dio" was officially certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America ( RIAA) on March 11, 2009 for shipments in the United States in excess of 500,000 copies. Issued in October 2000, "The Very Beast of Dio" is the second greatest-hits collection CD — and the first to be released in the U.S. — from the Ronnie James Dio-fronted band. DIO's last release was the "Holy Diver Live" CD, featuring a performance of the classic "Holy Diver" album in its entirety, from start to finish, recorded live for the very first time in 2005 in front of a sold-out London crowd. It also includes, among others, "Heaven & Hell", "Sign of the Southern Cross" and "Mob Rules" from vocalist Ronnie James Dio's BLACK SABBATH days, "Tarot Woman", "Man on the Silver Mountain" and "Long Live Rock 'N' Roll" from the RAINBOW era and "We Rock" from his solo career. I know is a private issue, but I would like to know what's going on with Ronnie's health. I might sound silly, but I have been worried since the 3 or 4 day ago statement about his hospitalization because I didn't know if it was a flu or a lightning strike (which actually he could have dominated with his horns).
Anyway, I just wish Ronnie a speed recovery. Hospitals suck big time. I was hospitalized many times in my youth and I recall how music was a big painkiller. And, since DIO introduced me to Heavy Metal, you can expect that DIOs records were my medicine most of the time. Specially "Dream Evil", which is the record that came out that time and that I listened to a lot while in bed.
So Ronnie, you are the King Of Rock N' Roll, ¡we need your singing, we need you!

I, too, would like to send along my best wishes for your speedy recovery. A few weeks ago we had my bachelor party (I'm 38), a very special occasion with close friends, much drink and merriment. Near the end of the night, we blasted some classic Dio tracks at top volume and paid homage to your greatness. WE ROCK! and so do you. Always.

I'm eagerly awaiting news of his condition as much as everyone, but, some things to keep in mind.
If this was something really, really bad, chances are they would have released something right away about his condition.
Just speculation, but, probably had some weird symptoms and finally went to go get checked out. He probably had numerous tests performed to correctly diagnose his issues. Certain tests can take at least a week to get definitive results.
I'm sure we will hear something in the next few days.
Let's just hope that it's nothing serious and RJD makes a swift and speedy recovery.

Ronnie, get well soon. The rock world is missing you already! Back in October 1987 you played Portsmouth Guildhall, UK - what a gig that was. When you tour in the near future a return visit would be much appreciated by the people of Pompey. For the time being rest, recuperate and no shouting at the nurses (preserve those vocals!)

I remember the first time I heard long live rock and roll back in the summer of 78 and was thrown into a whole new mindset. DIO was and always will be the BEST metal vocalist and without a doubt one of the best songwriters. His tireless touring and great shows leave guys 30-40yrs younger in the dust. PERIOD !
I have had the honor of meeting him sevaral times and most notably was on the mob rules tour in San Antonio when it was hot as hell outside and DIO came out took pictures and signed stuff and talked with everyone while Tony just had his car backed in and would meet no one. even though I was only a freshman in high school I knew that this guy was the best and that night at the show man was he on fire just blew everyone away. He still blew them away this summer at the Greek in L.A.
I hope for a speedy recovery and to see him back onstage where he belongs !!!

first heard ronnie around 78/79 on rising and totally changed my music taste overnight. First saw him live on the heaven and hell tour, and to this day have seen him a total of 8 times. 98`s gig at the astoria london was the nutz. the best i have ever heard him. LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL.

I'll never forget seeing you for the first time in Palo Alto in 97, still one of my favorite shows. You stayed after the show for hours signing stuff and talking with people. One of the nicest people i've ever met. Your music has got me through the hard times in my life and i want to thank you for that. Seeing you at the Forum with Heaven and Hell in 07 will probably go down as my favorite concert ever. You are an inspiration to us all! Rock on Ronnie!

Sir, i had the honor to meet you backstage in Quebec city in 2002. Those were the best 45 minutes of my life!! I've been a fan since i was 12 and meeting you was just like meeting my hero. You are kind to your fans, you are not a fake and that alone disserves all of our respect. Even more so, for so many years, you have been dedicated to your music and remained true to yourself. The first time I saw Ronnie was on the Holy Diver tour in December of 1983. I had waited for hours in the freezing rain to secure a spot at front row center. I sang along to every song and got a handshake from Ronnie. I even got a pick, a cigarette and a cup of run & Coke from Jimmy Bain. Over the years since then, I collected Dio rarities at import shops and record fairs, saw the Dio band a half dozen more times and also the Dehumanizer show.
When Heaven and Hell started up, I saw them in my hometown of Montreal and travelled to see their other shows in Quebec City QC, Ottawa ON, Mansfield MA, Toronto ON and Boston MA - no small feat for an average working guy like myself.
The idea of anything happening to Ronnie seems so unreal. He has always been there for me like no other performer has been; always releasing new music and being there on tour. Ronnie has never cancelled a show on me, ruining very expensive vacation plans, like another well-known singer has done to me a few times.
Ronnie has always carried the torch for what metal is supposed to be about. Like the others here, my best wishes go out to Ronnie and his family. I hope he gets well soon.
Sure, my expectations were high; catching a couple more dates of the Devil You Know tour, picking up Magica 2 & 3 and seeing the tour, and maybe getting a new Heaven and Hell album and tour after that, but this unsettling news puts everything into perspective. Right now, I'd just settle for knowing Ronnie is healthy and happy.

If your reading this, I hope you get well soon. You have been in our lives for so long, you are certainly like family to us. You have seen us through dark times, and have been there in the good times. We are here for you. Hope to find out what has happened soon, because it is pure hell not knowing for sure what your condition is.
I was in the hospital myself a few months back, and it lasted for nearly a month. A few surgeries, a few complications. I'm better now, but in the middle of it all, I managed to escape and make it to see you once again, this time was at the Greek Theatre on 8-11-09. I had tickets and I seemed sort of better. But I sure as hell wasn't going to miss you. So I wrapped my stomach and guts and stitches up in ace bandages, and saw the show! Another great Heaven & Hell show! I ended up back in the hospital a few days later (not due to over pushing it or anything, it was just pretty inevitable). But none of it stopped me from seeing you. I hope it shows just how important you are and what were willing to go through for you. We care about you. Get well soon! Lorn

I remember the words I've heard from you when we met on September 2005 in Kiev. I was a leader of a band, and you said to me: "Suzanna, everything will be great with you and your band!" Now I have another band (it calls RISING - in honor of the brilliant album), but you were right - it's great with us! and I wanna say to you from my bandmates' part and from me personally: RONNIE, EVERYTHING WILL BE GREAT WITH YOU!!! Get well Dio... you pulled me through two combat deployments and I'll never forget that.
Today begins a 24-hour vigil in your honor. God bless you and may you make a speedy recovery. For the next 24 hours I plan on playing in my house every piece of your art for everyone to see. There will be quite a few of us there.
May the blessed Holy St. Dio, the patron saint of Metal, recover for this illness and rise again. God bless you.

Arrgghh, this is the first I've heard of Dio being unwell (didn't see the earlier thread). Dio is my favourite singer & he has my best wishes in recovering quickly...but I've got a feeling he'll be fine (he's made it this far, he's still got plenty of years ahead of him)!
3 of my all-time favourite albums have RJD on vocals (Rising, Heaven & Hell, Holy Diver), he is an absolute metal legend.

While illnesses always suck, maybe this might give you a little bit of time to work on the Magica II and Magica III albums. Plus, if there's a sense of humor involved, maybe Ritchie might visit you, and you can write something briefly with him :)

It's great to see the show of love and positivity in the face of Dio's illness. He's a hero and a benchmark, and there will likely never be another like him.
So, on behalf of his legions of South African fans (we're here!), all I ask is get well soon (and record Magica II)!! :)
PS. I think it's wonderful Wendy reading message boards and passing on the fans' well-wishes :) A class act all round.

Surprise! We are still here thinking and talking about you. Here's one for you, I never got in to RJD until last year! I'm 35 and always respected him, but it's cool that I waited so long, because I'm discovering this amazing catalog of stuff, stuff that most the guys on here grew up with. I place him up there with my other favorite singers like Halford, Dickenson, Danzig, Tate, and whoever the guy is from Grand Magus (wow does that band kick ass). Anyway, horns high Mr. Dio, it's not time to bury you alive just yet!

i know this is late but just want to wish ronnie all the best. can't understand why anyone would post anything bad about this. i've made a 500 mile round trip for his glasgow gig (admittedly to see steve hackett as well) and am bummed out it was cancelled but if ronnie's in hospital how can anyone complain - i'm certainly not. i just wish him a full and speedy recovery. surely all his fans know he's a complete professional, as well as a decent guy, and wouldn't bail out without genuine reasons. love to ronnie, family and band and shame on anyone who posted a bad comment

Been a fan since '81, first saw Dio in '85.
Sometimes, even now at 43, Dio's music means the world to

I am sorry to hear about Ronnie's hospitalization. I wish him a speedy recovery. He ranks high among my favorites. I consider "Heaven and Hell" to be Black Sabbath's best album (and I mean no slight to Ozzy when I say that.)

I'm Brazilian, and I've seen him twice, in São Paulo(DIO) and in Belo Horizonte(Heaven & Hell), and I'm a real great fan of him. I'm living in Britsol, so I saw the chance to watch a big show, to listen to some rock 'n' roll and bang my head with Dio one more time. This was bit sad, cause I don't wanna see my greatest idol ill, so this message is to wish you,Mr. Dio, a fast recovery for more rock 'n' roll!

hearing about Dio's tour being cancelled was gutting, even worse I found out he was hospitalized, was supposed to see him in Manchester on the 27th.
You can't be ill Ronnie your a god and god's don't get Ill \m/o.o\m/
