FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, UNEARTH, BIOHAZARD To Appear On DIMEBAG Tribute CD
- Nov. 20, 2009
|
|
BLABBERMOUTH.NET has received confirmation that FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, UNEARTH, BIOHAZARD and KIUAS will all appear on the forthcoming "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott ( PANTERA, DAMAGEPLAN) tribute album which is being put together by U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine for a special issue that will coincide with the five-year anniversary of Dimebag's passing. FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH recorded a cover version of the PANTERA classic "A New Level" while UNEARTH laid down their rendition of "Sandblasted Skin" for the collection, which is expected to include the following artists/cuts, among others: * FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH - "A New Level" * UNEARTH - "Sandblasted Skin" * BIOHAZARD - [to be announced] * KIUAS - [to be announced] * MACHINE HEAD - "Fucking Hostile" * CHIMAIRA - "Slaughtered" * EVILE - "Cemetery Gates" * THROWDOWN - [to be announced] * ZAKK WYLDE - "Suicide Note Pt. 1" * THIS IS HELL - [to be announced] Other artists that are rumored to have contributed songs to the CD include MALEFICE and SYLOSIS. The song by EVILE turned out to be bassist Mike Alexander's very last and was recorded just before he himself died of a pulmonary embolism, a blockage of an artery in the lung, on October 5, 2009 while on tour with the band in Sweden. "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott was co-founder and lead guitarist for PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, Dimebag and his brother Vinnie Paul formed DAMAGEPLAN. On Dec. 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by Nathan Gale. He was 38 years old. Video footage of Evan Seinfeld ( BIOHAZARD) performing the PANTERA classic "Walk" with Vinnie Paul ( PANTERA) and SIN CITY SINNERS in Las Vegas in early July 2009 can be viewed below.

As far as I know Dimebag was the one who was killed, not the whole band. This is a Dimebag tribute because it's gonna be the 5th anniversary of his death.
Are you stupid?

you cumbucket. it's a tribute to the guy who died, not the band who broke up before he died. i think this is great. some great bands, some just very popular bands, but it's going to get some great attention and i think it's going to be awesome. i'm for sure getting this. can't wait for rob to be yelling "FUCKING HOSTILE".

That's just a fucking funny ass name! LOL. Predator rules...... Anyway, I agree with the guy who said he would download the good tracks. Most of this shit is gonna suck ass. I think it's cool to tribute Dime, He was a bad ass (RIP) But hearing shitty bands cover Pantera songs is pretty annoying. The guy from Throwdown tries to sound exactly like Phil Anselmo on their music! They are boring. This record is a cool idea but it will suck. Chimaira & Zack Wylde. Bring it. Also (liquid metal) on sirius|xm plays some of these tracks already, I heard Evile: Cemetery Gates, it was mediocre with shitty vocals.

That is like something out of a dream if that were to ever happen to me! Meeting Dime while SYL was destroying....damn!!! I never got the chance to meet Dime and I saw SYL perform their last show ever (Opening Ozzfest 2006 with a 20 minute set). Your lucky to have a memory like that!

cant wait to hear zakk on suicide note part 1. such a deep song, man thats the perfect song for him to choose, fuck yeah!!! the rest to me is so-so but 99% of tribute cds are crap. my fav tribute cds are the sabbath ones especially the first one! this should have something by the cavalera bros and mabe some anthrax on it too. mabe judas priest should do cemetery gates. mabe slayer could do suicide note part 2. fuck this could have been great but no!! fuck it now that i think about it this cd blows we need a tribute cd from dimes real peers!!!!

why is it that when Magazines release tribute CD's theve always got a heap of shit bands covering awesome songs?? why not get some awesome bands like Lamb Of God, Devildriver, Slayer, Anthrax, Children Of Bodom, Soulfly, Metallica. Even Down & Hellyeah would be good additions.
But yet they put bands like 5 finger death punch, throwdown, Kiuas, This Is hell. i really dont understand the way British Metal Mags think??
but im really looking forward to hearing Zakk, Machine Head, Evile & Chimaira do there thing, fingers crossed Metal hammer adds some more decent bands. maybe they should make it a double CD and get a shit load of awesome bands.

Five Finger Death Punch? I actually gave them a listen the other day, seems people like Nu-Metal again! How about Devildriver, Gojira or a band that can really handle the bands music. Unearth, Machine Head, Evile and Chimaira should be interesting though!
Oh, has anyone heard of This Is Hell? Or do I just live under a rock?

Instead of tearing the project down, why don't you support it, maybe they'll do another CD with the bands you really want to hear? Regardless, they will bring people back to the classic Pantera everyone loves. I am a 5fdp fan, and Pantera is brand new to me, I did not listen to them in high school. 5fdp has expanded my metal horizons and made me open to a whole new genre of music. They bring their metal chart fan base with them and give something to the great music of the past. Ivan respects Dimebag and mentions him during his shows, Vinnie Paul was at their CD release party in Vegas, and they were on tour with the boys from Hell Yeah, Vinnie even made "Death Punch Chilli". The brothers mean a lot to the band, the fact these bands were asked was an honor.
And despite Avenged Sevenfolds' rendition of "Walk" other people are picking apart, it's still better than some other bands I've heard attempt it. And when death punch fans sing it with the radio waiting for them to get onstage there's not a silent voice in the house.
So bring on your comments, let's see what you can do if you don't like what these bands bring.
