SLASH, DUFF And STEVEN ADLER Perform 'Paradise City' At LAYN Benefit; Video Available

According to NME.com, Slash teamed up with Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's Tom Morello and LINKIN PARK's Chester Bennington for a special benefit concert in Los Angeles last night (November 22). The ex- GUNS N' ROSES guitarist joined forces with a host of guest stars at the LAYN ( Los Angeles Youth Network) charity show at the Avalon to help raise funds for the homeless. He was joined by his former GN'R bandmates Duff McKagan and Steven Adler, plus Bennington, who fronted their rendition of "Paradise City" on the night (see video below). The Los Angeles Youth Network ( LAYN) is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization based on helping over 10,000 homeless adolescents become self-sufficient by providing shelter, food, and counseling for the abused, neglected, and abandoned. In a recent interview with ARTISTdirect.com, Slash stated about his involvement with LAYN Rocks!, "My wife, Perla, and I support LAYN. She's actually on the board. We're trying to raise money to keep it going, and we've been doing these 'Slash & Friends' gigs recently. Basically, we get a bunch of people together and put on a concert. Perla had asked me if I'd be interested in doing it to support LAYN, and I was fully into it! This will actually be the first 'Slash & Friends' gig I've done in Los Angeles. Basically, I wanted to put together something that would be a really big blowout, and that's what we've done! We've got all these different artists, and it should be an amazing event." That was freakin' awesome! Chester is a great singer and he sure nailed that song. Of course, it wasn't as Hip Hop as a couple stoners from the hood and a girl who pees herself onstage, but oh well. And Steven may be a junkie from hell, but is there any doubt that he is THE drummer for G'N'R? He put the groove in those songs!

Great performance. Though every time I see or hear about Dave Navarro I get a severe case of douche chills. I wish he could be shot back in a time machine to the nineties and stay put.

ok, so the performance.. man what a hit, just hearing steven on there, you can really feel the song, it almost seems like it's all about the drums for gnr, cause we've all heard paradise city tons of times now, with different line ups (velvet, new guns, adler's appetite, loaded...) but when you have slash duff AND STEVEN! that makes such a difference. i just hope they feel the "chemistry" just like they did back w/ matt for the same kinda situation (and therefore started velvet). slash, duff: don't be dumb, you know what to do, and you know izzy is game! start writing some songs, put velvet to the curb, loaded on hold, and go support slash's record, and in about a year (when axl ruins yet another attempted "world tour") go hit him up as a band and piece guns back together. you know that's what we are all waiting for, cut the BS, all of you are nothing without each other (axl can't write by himself, duff's loaded is kinda cheasy, velvet doesnt work, slash by himself is like axl: can't write with the 'dream team' and izzy's stuff is boring without the rockness of gnr, and adler is now sober.... HELLO, GET IT NOW >!>!>?

Loved the performance from the band but I'm not going to suck Adlers balls here like so many of you. This performance was like hitting bp. Every major leauger looks like Pujols during bp. The fact is that Adler hasn't proved he can handle anything more than a few club shows here and there playing the same ten songs he has for 20 years. Sorum is the right guy and if you don't believe check for footage from the motorhead tour! Now Chester fronting VR? I'm sold now! Double bonus of new VR and no more Linkin Park!!!

Agreed! Also, Steven KILLED on drums. He was for sure the highlight. It's good to hear groove back in rock n roll!!! Slash better not let go of him this time.

I've been saying that for years & years but most people were like
"meh he's a washed up junkie,can't play etc."
He played a huge role in AFD's sucess because
he brought the groove into that band!
I'd take Adler over Sorum(stiff drummachine)anyday/night!
And I'd take drummers like adler,tommy lee anyday over supertechnical robot drummers day n night too.
IF they could get Izzy onboard I don't think a reunion wouldn't
be so far away,even just for a one night show it would be the
reunion of reunions!
Of course there's Axlhole,you'd think he'd sort out all of his mental prob by now,geez....
