Looks like the editor must have a penchant for stonery stuff. Front cover has QOTSA, Baroness, ISIS, Torche, Electric Wizard and Mastadon. All great bands but seeing as there are only a dozen or so albums shown they do seem to account for a high percentage.

Jaw-droppingly heavy and extreme in its sound, its lyrics, its production, and its overall impact. If you've not heard this album--and even if you're one of those who only post about CF to bash Tom Gabriel Fischer's blogging style--you really should seek it out and give it a listen.

A truly extraordinary album.

I have to get my hands on this! I'll just throw three albums out there. Controller by Misery Signals, Damnation and a Day by Cradle Of Filth, Chimaira's self titled album. These are not my top three, but some of my favorites this decade.

Here we go with the "this album should be on the list, this band shouldn't be on the list".

Guess what, it's already published. It's not a list of your personal tastes. You want it, then go buy Decibel and debate with them on why you like/don't like the list. Otherwise just let it go. Listen to what you like and get over the fact that others aren't always going to have your same tastes.

Decibel usually makes more sense than most of the other popular "metal" magazines. QotSA on the cover is alarming however. At least Watain's "Sworn to the Dark" is on the cover as well. Just a few personal selections from the decade:

Pig Destroyer - Prowler in the Yard (2001
Vehemence - God was Created (2002)
Darkest Hour - Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation (2003)
Wintersun - Self titled (2004)
Decapitated - Nihility (2002)
The Crown - Crowned in Terror (2002)
Burst - Prey on Life (2003)
Borknagar - Empiricism (2001)

I have a lot of respect for Decibel, but not this list.  There is nothing even remotely metal about the Queens of the fucking Stone Age, they included "Clients" (the shittiest, trendiest fucking Red Chord album ever), and even a Hatebreed album.

No doubt there's a lot of metalcore garbage on this list. I'll pass.

#10 End of Heartache (Killswitch Engage)

Expect tons of metalcore albums that will make up 85% of the list.

By far this is the best goddamn metal magazine out there in America. No fucking contest. I've never seen any other magazines put Darkthrone on a cover. This was the only magazine that featured the entire members of Down on the cover (has ANYONE noticed that, when other magazines put Down as a cover story, it's just Phil Anselmo on the cover?).

If you think this magazine is full of shit hten go fuck yourselves.

I really am skeptical of these lists because they usually cater to the blandest hottest selling stuff while leaving out some heavy hitters, that being said, here's what I feel this list should contain

Necrophagist - Epitaph
Vital Remains - Dechristianize
Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor/Dead Heart in a Dead World
Iced Earth - The Glorious Burden
Megadeth - Endgame
Decapitated -Nihility
Suffocation - Suffocation/Blood Oath
Symphony X - The Odyssey

Those are just naming a few. Obviously there are more I would put on there but those at least my favorite albums recording this decade. I fully expect to not see some/all of them on there in favor of a lot of metalcore/screamo stuff. Just the way the world works I guess.

Saying that Trivium has the best album of this decade makes my blood boil. I don't hate trivium or anything but there is absolutely no way that their releases are better than any of the bands I mentioned. I do like THE SONG the Crusade, I don't think the album is or should be anywhere near the top.

As for Opeth...I've seen this band twice and I've never been so bored in my life. Boring live, boring music...I don't know. You guys can like them but they just aren't for me. I listen to metal for EXCITEMENT!!! They are like prozak metal.

for the guy who posted BTBAM,...dude their old stuff is WAAAAAY better than colors. WAAAY BETTER!!! Get Silent Circus or their self titled debut album on there!!! Colors PALES in comparison to those albums.

Death Magnetic should not be on this list. It was a decent album but it got a lot of publicity just because it was Metallica. I feel like other bands have put in a lot more effort and come up with much better albums...there has to be 100 better albums than death magnetic recorded in this decade, there has to be!

I don't want to see hardcore/metalcore bands on this list...but I know I am going to so I won't even debate it. I just accept it and move on. I think we, the fans, know who deserves to be in the top 100 and who doesn't and thats all that really matters

Decibel Magazine is the best Metal/Extreme magazine published in the US today (as good as Terrorizer & BWBK) If you read the magazine regularly, you know they don't cater to metalcore/screamo/trend bands. I ordered my copy already so I can't wait to see what made their list. I might even try to get every album on the list (or at least listen to every album). I might not like everything, but why not give it a try. It's only music, right?

And to all the queers on here saying that this list will be all Metalcore, and trendy music. Have you ever read Decible??
Every issue I have ever bought, which is quite a few. Is full of a very wide range of different generes, not just metal. And alot of it is usually shit Ive never heard of. Which has opened my eyes to all kinds of amazing music. This list will be full of some amazing shit, that Ive probably never heard of. Best work from them I think, is the DANCE OF DEATH DVD-A in stellar 5.1 surround with those CREEPY pictures on each song page, they differ and they're all from the LP theme (easy nav.)

AMOL&D is good. "For the Greater Good of God" and "The Reincarnation of Ben Breeg," are classic MAIDEN.
