TESTAMENT Guitarist Produces ACRASSICAUDA EP - Nov. 23, 2009
For the past six years, VICE has documented the story of Iraqi heavy metal band ACRASSICAUDA in its struggle to stay alive and continue the group while enduring the disintegration of its own country throughout the war.

On March 9, 2010, VICE Records will release ACRASSICAUDA's debut EP, "Only The Dead See The End Of The War", recorded in 2009 following the band's final relocation to the U.S. Produced by Alex Skolnick of TESTAMENT and mixed by engineer Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD, HATEBREED, SYSTEM OF A DOWN), the four-song debut "explodes with ferocious war metal," according to a press release.

Also in stores now is the inspirational book "Heavy Metal in Baghdad: The Story of Acrassicauda" (VICE/MTV Books). Expanding on the internationally acclaimed, award-winning VBS.TV/VICE Films documentary produced and directed by Suroosh Alvi and Eddy Moretti, VICE editors Andy Capper and Gabi Sifre extensively cover the history of ACRASSICAUDA, beginning at their youth in Iraq and culminating in their eventual relocation to the U.S. in 2008. Featuring never-before-seen photographs, setlists, posters, and flyers, the book tells the real story of life during wartime in Baghdad.

Listen to a free download of the ACRASSICAUDA song "Garden Of Stones" at this location.

Unfortunately, the title of their ep seems correct, but hopefully that changes soon. Will definitely check this out; I've been wondering what they've been up to. Good for Alex for helping out too- must be a promising debut.

If only I could pronounce their name properly in rapid succession.

I'm sorry to say but they only have fame now because of their situation and where they're from. Their music is mediocre at best. There are plenty of other bands who deserve what they are getting moreso.

Bring on the hate!

I think it sounds pretty dang good!!

Trust me, I've heard much worse bands get major record deals.

I'd love to see these guys live, they seem really humble, fun, & enthusiastic.

That the music is pretty cool. I actually hear a hint of Solitude Aeturnus in it. Maybe that's just me.

To poster I Live Again, I repsect your opinion regarding their music (although I think it's pretty decent) but I do have to say that it's good for them that they're safe, and having good opportunities here. It's the least we can do after we invaded their country illegally and bombed the hell out of it and spent ourselves into oblivion...

"I'm sorry to say but they only have fame now because of their situation and where they're from."

I think risking your life playing a form of music that's heavily stigmatized in a war torn country should earn you some proper attention. These guys deserve it.

I remember watching in the documentary that they could barely make it in Damascus, after fleeing their country. I bet they're happy to be in the US, but they've got their families over there still.

Listened to Garden of Stones and it sounds quite good.
Quite original and very promising !
The singer sounds better when he sings cleanly than when he groans.
I loved the Eastern tonalities in the middle and end too !
